If you watched all the coverage from E3 2010, you’ve probably seen some of these shots before – but, as usual, I’m posting them up again here in their original, watermark-free, 18-megapixel glory so you can take in every detail. Enjoy!
See more articles on NASCAR and Screenshots.
LIFE LIKE!! even d i dont like nascar
Knuckleheads don’t seem to realize NASCAR is purely a spectator sport. Hence circle tracks. You sit you lazy butt in the stands and never lose sight of any of the action. F1 and lemans cars are great but I couldn’t go to one of their events because I don’t want to see only one turn or straightaway.
Ironic isn’t it…
No One cares about the simple typical NASCARS.
so why did u take the time to post u moron. its funny how all u crooked teeth pale brits are getting so upset i love it.
just look into the future and you will see that NASCAR will be the biggest hit of GT5. I’m pyschic, i know these things
Why can’t everyone just get along?!
I got two photos ready so far. 1 of the Charger and a Mustang. The photo of the Chevy Carmaro is bad so I’ll have to wait for another. I’m posting them now you find them in NASCAR NGC.
were are you posting them? because I know that they wont be running a soloar next year unless something has changed in the last 16 hours.
@Roberts
Yes you are right it was the Nationwide race. I should be getting some photos here in the next few hours I hope. We’ll see more of the new cars from my understanding at the next four races. I also found out that the new cars will be in the last two races in both series. Toyota will be show casing the Soloar at the Daytona 500.
I hate all these closed minded people who hate Nascar. I love Motorsports in general,why cant you!. I can watch dirt cars to F1 or Rally to oval track racing. Just sit back and enjoy.
These pictures are great, the detail on the cars are so real I can’t believe it. Though I hope we see the NGC Cars (Next Generation Cars) in a DLC soon after release. The NGC’s were show cased at the Daytona Race this July forth. So whom ever watched it seen the cars like I did. They’ll be the 2011 Dodge Charger R/T, 2011 Chevy Camaro RS, 2011 Ford Mustang GT. Toyota hasn’t show cased their new body still yet but they should when in the next few weeks. I’m still waiting for some photos so I can post them up, to share with you all. Dale Jr won that race I believe.
You are actually talking about the Nascar Nationwide series. this is the sprint cup cars completely different.
sorry for the crap spelling above. My spelling = Fail.
I hope that PD doesn’t include every track…29 tracks of which 24 is an oval….
how good are the nascars on a real circuit??
Horrendous. Like a lot of American cars, they build the body and make it look OK, stick a big engine in it, then the designer goes on holiday and the interns are let loose on crafting the car itself. The result is that unless you want to go in a straight line fast, or around easy left-handed bends like NASCAR’s, the cars handle like a pickup truck on sand when it comes to turning.
I suspect that if you try to turn the steering wheel to the right on a NASCAR, that all four wheels would pop off in a comedy fashion and you’d skid along the ground like a toboggan.
Ehhh, don’t pay any attention. The good doctor is just a troll.
They turn pretty decent actually. Certainly not like open cockpit or Le Mans Protos, but decent.
All you have to do is watch them scrub their tires on warmup or restart, when they weave back and forth, and you can tell they turn just fine in both directions.
And yes, Just ignore DrTrouserTinkle. He’s just getting his kicks baiting people again.
I’m not really getting any kicks from any of this. There’s no serious discussion to be had as all of that is halfway up the page.
Yes, I don’t consider NASCAR to be a “proper” motorsport, that is that I consider it motorsport by virtue of the nature of the machinery and nothing else; but I’m far from being alone in that thinking.
Watching idiots crash into each other like a destruction derby is not my idea of racing.
okay!
thanx!
NurseWheresThePlank, “decent” compared to what exactly? A Mustang? XD
Better than alot of european touring classes that I see spinning off track every few minutes….
The graphics are amazing, but the car with the Toyota has a worse rear stake. The pixel and the m and m promotion are blurry.
STUNNING!
If you’ve never seen a real NASCAR, try this website:
justfukingoogleit.com!!!
These ARE the most impressive NASCAR models I have ever seen in my life. It’s one thing to see an amazing collection of cars in a game like GT5, but to see little details that you would only notice if you were standing right next to the car in real life ON THESE game models is breathtaking. I mean you guys sound so spoiled and ignorant to be complaining about these! Do you have any idea how many YEARS I had to beg EA on their forums to make their NASCAR models just HALF this good? There’s stuff on these cars that are so subtle, such as the imprinted Chevy symbol on the 42’s rear bumper, that I know countless hours were spent making these models. THE BEST PART, however, is that these cars ARE NOT identical. The chevy imprint on the 42 is not on the 88. The decals in the wheels from the 88 to the 24 are different. The cockpit gauges are laid out differently from car to car. All of you morons sit here and say all of these cars are the same but in reality PD has noticed all of the subtle differences between the car and re-created it, and to see this level of dedication for the sport I love the most is very touching.
“why cant we all just…. get along?”
Because the release date for “along 5” just got pushed back again….
They’re adding wind effects to it I hear.
Day of Thunder style WOOOOO! *I do not endorse that movie in anyway*
Now, Now, remeber you restraining order please…..
Reading some of these posts just makes me shake myhead. Why has this become a country VS. topic? I love Gran Turismo because it showcases vehicles and racing from all around the world. I welcome all sorts of racing. But some of you are acting is if PD has spent 4 years of production time into NASCAR and it will take up 70% of the game. NASCAR will be a SMALL % of GT5. All that Jordan did was post pictures of the cars and some of you are acting as if the NASCAR made the front cover of the game and will consist of a HUGE portion of the career GT mode. Like I said before, Im not the biggest nascar fan in the world, but welcome all sorts of motorsport into the game so there is something for everyone to enjoy. And the generalizations need to stop. IF you dont like NASCAR, dont use them. And FYI, not all Americans are crazy about nascar, I know I wasnt at first until I learned more about it and all that goes into the race, so you need to stop assuming all Americans are fans of it.
Its just a hideously ugly sport, that why people hate. Its good that there may be something to it if you look into a bit. But that americana is just too irritating, in all its manifestations.
Just a right turn and give me Vipers. Thats all.
Im a “pean” as some instigator said, but im looking forward to trying out nascar in gt5 could be fun.
Dont watch on tv because i dont enjoy nascar as a spectator
(too long to literally watch cars go round in circles, regular yellow flag periods for ad breaks, many seem to watch just for the crashes and im sure for fans it’s the personalities driving they enjoy watching so as i dont know any i dont enjoy watching )
But despite this i have enjoyed on toca and other games a little nascar racing, and as others have said its something different for gt so eager to see how well they do it.
Watched allmost 19hrs of le-man this year, and allways enjoy F1 and the FIA GT championship, and hope to see if not completely officially at least in part these races available in GT5, so americans can get a taste of the skills required to race in those series as we “peans” will get by playing nascar.
Do feel drivers racing in the european based race series at the top of their game are much more skillful (WRC and F1 in particular) than american based race series, definitely not saying nascar requires little or no skill, clearly it does but seems to be a more specific skill set than europe.
Top european based drivers may be able to attain nascar skills over a season, but cant see a nascar driver (with exception of european based driver montoya) picking up F1 or WRC skills over a season.
Clearly just my opinion, not meant to offend just adding to the discussion.
Yes, totally. I’ll bet some NASCAR star is secretly practicing some form of higher-order racing right now, so that in the future when it is announced that this driver is moving on to some other series, he’ll have a head start.
A right turn and a hairpin here and there would go a long way in NASCAR…
sad. no nws today..
will be challenging because everybody got the same car… so the speed and acceleration won’t be too different from driver and opponents … the goal will be of not doing errors .. and getting behind other cars (without resistance of air do not remember the name of this teknike) and pitstops !! I think its a tecnical kind of discipline … even if its just an ovel ( in circle) .. so too all people saying its boring because it just turns left … i understand … but kaz wants us to try that so lets try .. and just dont play nascar if you dont want … im sure all people complaioning about nascar will give it a try lol and maybe will like it after all !! november 2 … long wait again !!
*technique- drafting :)
WOW JUST WAIT FOR THE GAME!!! Look @ all the comments,People are really showing there A$$es! Im not crazy about there nascar thing but it’s a form of RACING PEOPLE! there are simliar forms of it all over the world….The bottom line is that it’s new to the series and of coarse it’s gonna get alot of attention, And im sure pd/sony got a nice check to show it off too!!! I bet if they were Drag cars in there it would be a problem too,but its cool to put in a dragstip? Just be glad you can drive all these types of cars on one game and put them on other tracks and try them against each other.Because in reality wether you like it or you don’t and that’s YOUR OPINION !!! You still gonna buy the game and your stuck with it! @ least there fast!!! I bet you guys can’t wait to run 50 laps in a prius on the electric motor while charging your batteries @ the same time on the nurburgring… OH JOY!
I agree 100%.. although, I am a NASCAR fan
That’s an example of how spoiled you are thanks for repeating that for a second time for everyone to see saves me a lot of time. On topic? What am I on a game show, ok how many major cities are their in the town of I could care less about nascar but I’m still here talking about because clearly I need to constantly bash it because I’m the ignorant one?
Having grown up in Germany my whole life and now living in Toronto, Canada for the past 6 years (for apprenticeship), the fundamental difference between USA and Europe, is that Europeans know alot more about America then Americans know about Europe. It often seems Americans are living in their own world, and I really respect alot the beautiful things that have come out of the US, like music, films, sport leagues and many of the things of the past when America was truly a pace setter in new ideas. But when I look at mentality of America in this day in age, especially on the level of government and banks, it’s hard to understand where they see themselves going as far as the future is concerned. The time has come I think where European Counties will become serious world powers. I don’t hate America, I generally respect everybody, but when I see whats going on here, I’m frightened for America. What does this have to do with GT5 and NASCAR, well it’s just that if both countries thought alike I think we’d have NASCAR type races in Europe.
We actually do. There is a Nascar federation in Belgium. It’s called the European Late Model Championship.
NASCAR style Stockcar Racing is actually pretty popular around the world. Here is a list of some of the series with country.
USA = NASCAR Sprint Cup
USA = NASCAR Nationwide Series
USA = NASCAR Camping World Truck series
USA = NASCAR K&N Series (East coast & West coast divisions)
USA = NASCAR Whelen Modified tour (Northeast & Southeast divisions)
USA = NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (several classes running at shorttracks around the country)
USA = ARCA racing series
Canada = NASCAR Canadian Tire Series
Canada = NASCAR Whelen All-American Series (several classes running at shorttracks around the country)
Canada = NSCA Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup (uses cars with the same basic rules as the Canadian Tire series)
Mexico = NASCAR Corona Series
Mexico = NASCAR Mini-Stock series
Brazil = Stockcar Brazil (classified as the same type of Stockcar as a NASCAR one, although look drastically different)
Brazil = A pickup truck version that is part of the series listed above.
Argentina = ACTC (not sure what the actual name is or what divisions they have)
UK & Belgium = European Late Model Series
UK = Pickup Truck Racing
UK = BriSCA & other short track based series
France = RACECAR Series (FIA sanctioned series, uses cars similar to those used in the NASCAR Canadian tire series)
South Africa = Don’t know if they have any series but I know they did hold a big race this year
Aus & NZ = Many short-track based Stockcar series
International = Speedcar Series (yes it failed due to lack of money)
There are many more too, and have been many in the past. Yes Stockcar racing is more popular in the USA & Americas, but then Formula car racing is more popular across Europe.
I hope you mean you observe the US from going over the border, and haven’t been thinking Toronto Cannada is part of the states…. ;)
I hate watching Nascar, but it is awesome to race in video games. TOCA 3 did a pretty good job on Nascar part, which is quite intense.
You should’ve seen how fast my Dad ran to the computer when he saw the picture of the NASCARS in the second picture of Madrid “Holy S***!!! They’re turning left!!!” Until I told him thats a GT5 picture. :D
So what your saying is that lame troll remarks is a family tradition?
@ Puddles
Ofcourse, we start pre-heating the oven first, and then a large giant troll walks out with a stick and a certain Doctor in his pants.
Glad to see everyone continuing to descend into the realm of unthinking xenophobia, hatred & generalizations. I hope the servers for GT5 are segregated by region because if I have to listen to one more insane argument between American and European meatheads spewing their disgusting, childish hatred towards one another I’m going to be sick.
Why is America getting its own racing series? I am Germana nd I will play NASCAR and Super GT alot.
There’s got to be some credit given for the one of the top old time NASCAR drivers who has got to have one of the worst names/nick names.
He originally raced in Canada and then moved south to the USA.

firstly, you dont know the meaning of irony, my definition of irony is for example where you said “anything they do that doesn’t benefit you gets you emotional like your on your peiriod or something.” and in a previous post you ranted like a little girl… “how many demos have been shipped here to be played for americans? How many times has europe gotten gt b4 america? Did america get gt4 prologue? For how many gt’s games have their been rally cars, f1 cars, dtm’s, btcc, le mans cars. America gets one f****** race series of their own” hmmm… secondly, i was on topic, as i specifically mentioned nascar, i was merely using geography as an example of your ignorance. and thirdly, your about as right as jean todt is an american. nuff said
The why are you talking about it, and as for not caring about what goes on outside ither countries…I smell irony. This site isn’t about geography stay on topic and stop fishing for reasons to stay mad when you know I’m right haha.
I think all the personal attacks are getting out of hand…probably more a result of everyone wanting the game to finally release…like crabby kids when they’re hungry.
All this will be a non-issue once we’ve been fed.
It would be somewhat poetic if there were a required NASCAR stage to complete the game or to get to the professional level…just a little more fuel to the fire.
Gamescom can’t come soon enough. Just so we can all bitch some other detail to death.
Oh you know it, they’re practicing their bitching as we speak no doubt…. “that red isnt quite the right shade” “That tracks turn 3 is angled at 3 degrees not 4 degrees” “Kaz is called Kaz, why cant he be called Steve”
Seriously I’m expecting some truely mindless moaning!
Hey, good Idea. I’m calling him Steve from now on…
Steve from Rickity’s House of Digital Delights….
Ok so this is one big reply to several people/topics from somebody that is actually involved in the
NASCAR & Racing business.
First off the headlights & Taillights are vinyl decals made by Competition Graphics as well as some
other suppliers. The grille you see on the nose is a decal made by them as well.
The bodies are not exactly the same, the aero numbers are but the bodies are not. They are similar
but not exactly the same. That is between different manufactures, all the Chevy’s are the same, etc.
Somebody said something about a new COT that debuted this past weekend and if they’d change
the in-game one. The car that debuted this weekend IS NOT a Cup series car, it’s a Nationwide
series car. For those that don’t follow NASCAR but follow F1 the Nationwide series is basically the
GP2 series of NASCAR (development level wise).
Somebody mentioned the Ford F-150 as the best selling vehicle in the US over the past few years
and how it should be included in GT5. IIRC it was in GT4 and may as well be in GT5. Also it’s not
the F-150 that’s the best selling vehicle it’s the entire F-series which includes 3 or 4 variants of the
truck, so the numbers are a little skewed.
I have to say it’s funny to see all the Euro-Kids crying about people rubbin… Rubbin’ is Racin’.
Somebody said something about how Europe is the bigger area for this game… Look at the sales
numbers, GT1 was about equal, GT2 & 3 sold more in America, GT4 & GT5P sold more in Europe,
Middle East, & Africa. The euro area sold more overall for the franchise, but they also got GT4P as
well as the Tokyo game.
About the Wing/Spoiler. In previous images the cars had the Wing on them as was raced at the
time, but do to some issues with the Wing making the cars less racey and more likely to get
airborne they switched back to the spoiler, which is something they had used for decades before
they went to the wing. The screenshots/vids from E3 show that Sony/PD are keeping things current
as they changed the cars back to the spoiler as NASCAR has done for this series.
The reason they are focusing so much on NASCAR is because Kaz is a huge fan of NASCAR style
racing and well it’s the American gaming season. Once they get to Europe & Asia for their big
gaming conferences we’ll get coverage of the types of racing from that area.
Jean Todt was in town for not only the NASCAR race but for the Grand-Am race as well. Part of the
reason was to see how NASCAR can get so many people to come to the races when F1 has some
problems with that, part of it was to see how Grand-Am & NASCAR put on exciting close racing
with tons of passing whereas F1 & several other FIA series have a problem doing that. Also
NASCAR for years has wanted a race in the NYC area, ISC (the company that owns about half of
the NASCAR Cup tracks) has wanted a race in the NYC area as well, there was an interview this
weekend where Mr Todt said that he is still working on getting a GP in the NYC area….. Part of me
thinks there were some “secret” meetings going on about a NASCAR/FIA track in the NYC area.
Somebody was asking about pictures of the Cup cars to compare with… Here is a Zip file with 21 hi-rez NASCAR Cup series pictures. 16 of them are actual pictures and then 5 of them are technical drawings describing some stuff. http://www.mediafire.com/?rnmzizgznz5
Yeah I know it’s a long post, but like I said I was replying to several people/topics at the same time.
my point exactly, you’d have to look it up first you moron. since you seem to like making stupid generalisations, i’ve made one regarding you and your fellow americans, in that you are seemingly oblivious to anything that goes on outside of your own country. and for the record i really dont care about NASCAR being in GT, there will be plenty of proper circuits to race on when it comes out
Well, I’m Canadian, and you seem to be a blowhard bigot.
The videos and pictures of nascar in GT5 look promising.
Good one rick. And see what jeffrey star did there everyone? Take note that’s all you have to do is not use them instead of being sanctimonious little b******. I say good day
Amazing,but NASCAR not best racing cars.GT cars,Le Mans cars,WRC cars>>NASCAR.
Well, just to see the crash scenes, MUAHAHAHA I killed a hillbilly car!
Im never going to use a Nascar
when i get the game:)
Not even for a shiney trophy? Hmmmm :P thought so, I’ll see you on the oval cowboy HAHA :P
My problem is that you all believe you are pd’s gift to earth and that anything they do that doesn’t benefit you gets you emotional like your on your peiriod or something. And I could name all the countries in europe without google, I have a globe and an atlas, so what does that have to do with anything?
First, to be clear, I have no problem with NASCAR being in the game. The more kinds of racing, the better for all of us, really.
Having said that, there are more than livery differences between the cars. Just looking at the front view of only the Chevy models will show that there are different pins holding down the hood for different cars. A look at the side view shows differences around the vents in the rear window on the driver’s side.
These are only two of what are probably many small differences recreated faithfully and different on the real cars by driver. I’ll bet the dashboard view on each will show far more changes from car to car. It’s actually quite amazing how much PD did to model all of the differences. Because of this, it is clear that it’s not just one model per manufacturer in NASCAR.
Still, I welcome NASCAR because they add yet another type of racing to our game.
its funny that everyone can B*tch about this game. it was not your 60 million doller investment, so let him put in whatever he wants in this game, everyone is still going to but the game, even if it has nascar or only 200 prem cars, they are still doing a great job with this game, keep it up pd. love how you have opened up the spec on this game,
And hey, anyone care to guess what jean todt was doing in daytona this weekend for the nascar races. Cmon cmon cmon just guess id love to hear how wrong the peans can be!
who gives a rats chuff what jean todt was doing… and whats your problem with europeans? i bet you couldnt even name half of the countries in europe without googling it first
Days of Thunder… and thus my NASCAR knowledge is spent. But no denying the graphics looks beautiful and I’ll look forward to racing them… will it get me watching NASCAR… hmmmm I dont think it will to be honest. But its cool to have it in the game none the less!
Rubbing is Racing according to the line from Day of Thunder. Hmmm according to the restraining order I have its not! haha
These Premium cars look absolutely insanely stunningly detailed… (too many adjectives?) And there are 200 of them… But what I’m saying is that if they just scrapped the 800 Standard cars, they could’ve made 200 more Premium cars, maybe even more than that! That would give us around 400 Premium cars, all with cockpit views, all insanely detailed, and all awesome. I’d much rather 400 Premiums than 200 Premiums and 800 Standards.
Wow, DrTrouserPlank is one good troll. I call him a troll because I refuse to believe anyone would be that stupid and ignorant about a racing series and then spout nonsense as if it were fact.
Don’t listen to much talk radio huh?
But yah, top notch troll. Most of them don’t get much if any response. I’ve seen better, but it’s pretty good baiting form.
^^Um…its not pd that’s putting all this attention on nascar. Your issue is with the website
My issue is not with the site, the site just covers the news that is let out, which im sure is mostly regulated by PD or Sony…and watch the trailer from E3, Nascar got more time in the video than rally, which is obsurd…did this site make the trailer too?
@Devin
The E3 trailer is from footage shown at E3 (a confrence held in the USA) so of course they would showcase alot of NASCAR to appeal to Americans and try to get another fanbase involved into the Gran Turismo series. If you are unaware, next game show is GamesCon which is held in Europe, so I’m sure that alot of EU type cars/events will be shown to appeal to that market, and the last show is TGS (in Tokoyo)…see where Im going with this?
Ok, let me just say, before i make my real comment, that this game is going to be fantastic, and i will buy it, but good lord stop focusing so much on NASCAR, if PD wants to put work into it, make a NASCAR game…im tired of all this focus on a part of the game that i will completely avoid if possible…
They lost the wing 10 weeks ago and are back to the blade type spoiler
Thank god. Now I may consider watching again. Hated the dang wings.
To everyone who thinks europe is getting shafted and america is getting everything….how many demos have been shipped here to be played for americans? How many times has europe gotten gt b4 america? Did america get gt4 prologue? For how many gt’s games have their been rally cars, f1 cars, dtm’s, btcc, le mans cars. America gets one f****** race series of their own and all the peeans start whining. “I don’t want this…why don’t they do that…make this car for me.” Seriously listen to yourself, grab your lunches that mommy made you off the counter your late for school ya babies.
The Wings/Spoilers on the back of the car are new? Because I heard someone saying on this website, that the nascars didnt had the new spoilers in GT5 and now I see Wings/Spoilers on the back of the car in GT5…?
Might be why some sources list Nascar has counting for more premiums than the 3 others have stated here. Might be counting wing and spoiler versions has seperate. The above pictured is the “car of the future” model that has had both wings and spoilers fitted has they’ve tried to work the kinks out. Older cars just had spoilers.
I know this has nothing to do with this article…
But do you think you will be able to play your own music in the game?
While I’ve been waiting for GT5, I’ve been playing Midnight Club and I love the fact that I can just play the music straight off my Hard-drive
They confirmed it will have it. You play MC:LA too? Gimme five!
yeah you can,right of the hdd in GT5. awesomeness.
Thanks guys, I know the cars, the driving and tracks are important. But I’ve always hated the music on GT4 LOL, I need the HedKandi music, while im setting my times round the Nurburg =D
Yeah I love MC:LA lol, the driving isn’t exactly spot on, but the Cockpit views are good..
Can’t wait to take Jeff Gordon’s car out for a spin on the Top Gear Test Track. :)
Looking forward to driving my Red Bull Toyota!
Hope they don’t considers all 8-16 nascar cars are 8-15 of the famous 200… I would be pissed off because they are ALL THE SAME car and should be consider a ONE car, not 8 or 16 DIFFERENT cars
There are only 3 different models shown above: Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. Each sponsor just has a different paintjob, so why would 2 different Chevy sponsored cars be counted as 2 different models? There are also Dodge brands I beleive so that would make the total 4 models but I havent seen any screenshots of those.
I understood the point.
On the title of the game, I think it would probably be a better game if they adopted your suggested title. Hopefully someone can mention this to PD so they can consider if for their next project.
And the rebound shot is a dud…..
To use the analogy I might well actually take them to a Mexican restaurant if that was considered to be the most widely eaten cuisine in this area.
I wouldn’t have a problem if the restaurant also sold Hamburgers to cater to other’s tastes, but I’d certainly disapprove if there were more hamburgers to choose from than traditional Mexican dishes.
I think you missed my point. The fact is the game isn’t called “Gran DrTrouserPlank 5: The real american hatred simulator”. My best advice: Skip the NASCAR portion of the game, as it will only be a small % of what you will find in GT5.
@Organ-Donor
your the best!! lol
Oh dang, I think that was just “The B***H Slap heard round the world”…..
superb conversation, 10 points for the slap and “Gran DrTrouserPlank 5: The real american hatred simulator” this made my day!!! :D :D
There’s going to be more than 3 unique models.
Even so, for a car that is practically gutted on the inside it seems a waste to go premium on it.
@Dr
Fair enough. You don’t like NASCAR. Thats YOU. Think of it this way: Lets say you are having a buisness meeting with clients from around the world. Would you take them to a Mexican resturant just because your favorite food is mexican? Wouldn’t the logical thing to do is take them to a buffet so everyone can choose their favorite foods and keep everyone happy?
And for your comment “for a car that is practically gutted on the inside it seems a waste to go premium on it” the same can be said for cars with only 70-100hp. Thats the brilliance of opinions.
I don’t understand why so many guys have a problem with the nascar series.
Yes imo it is boring to watch on tv just like F1, WRC …etc,
but playing it (especially in GT) can be a lot of fun.
I think every wellknown racing series is welcome in GT.
This is my dream since GT3, to have one great driving/racing game including all those different race series/types like nascar, wrc, f1, supergt, touring car…and so on.
Next thing is imo some guys are spending to much focus to the premium/standard thing. I still think that standard cars will have cockpit-view and will look damn beautiful. And finally the important thing: the physics will be as great as with premium so there really isn’t that much to worry about.
greetings
I agree in general. Despite my other posts I don’t “care” whether NASCAR is in or not. My annoyance (like many others) is that Europe is the biggest market for games in the world and the center of world motorsport. It’s a continent that on the whole doesn’t watch NASCAR, and it is therefore well down on our list of priorities. We are just fed-up of America getting more recognition with content specifically aimed to their tastes whilst Europe gets taken for granted. KY got nobbled into doing this by SCEA though. I’m sure it was never his intention to include these cars originally.
I also see the annoynace of people that god-knows how many identical NASCARS are getting premium treatment, taking away from (frankly) far more worthy cars that are being dumped into the standard category.
^^
Chevy, Ford, and Toyota. 3 different car models. All the rest is just different liveries/stickers. Your getting that bent up over that, you got searious issues. God forbid they try to expand the racing experience, I thought that was what Gran Turismo was all about?
@DrTrouserPlank
“god-knows how many identical NASCARS are getting premium treatment” – Of course they all get premium treatment because they are brand new to GT and everything brandnew to GT will get premium treatment thats more a technical thing than anything else.
“I’m sure it was never his intention to include these cars originally” – I am sure that there is nothing in GT which Kazunori-san hates or was forced to put in. He and PD are not replaceable for Sony!
“We are just fed-up of America getting more recognition with content specifically aimed to their tastes” – I understand your point of view but E3 is in Los Angeles – America. So what would you focusing on for marketing and demonstration: The US-Market.
Lets just wait over gamescom(european market) and tgs(japanese market) and we will have a concret overview about GT5 and its content and the premium/standard thing. I am really sure that Nascar didn’t took sooo much time and isn’t such a big par of GT, more like wrc. They did a lot of other stuff which also used resources which could be used for premium cars.
Finally the whole package will be amazing and there will be so much stuff that everyone can race the cars and the races they prefer. Isn’t that epic!
greetings
I mean seriously, where the hell is F1?! I know here in the US, no one cares about it, but Europe buys most of GT games anyway. It’s like selling a soccer game here, no one gives a crap, we’re buying MADDEN and MLB. Localizationz EPEIC-phailzor!
Hehe, I remeber years ago when some people from the NA market complained there were not enough US cars, and the reply would ussually be, “It’s a japanese market game, that’s why. Deal with it.” This would quite often come from people in the EU, who by and large seemed to be satisfied with what they where getting apparently.
Now the NA market is getting more cars. EU is complaining about not enough of theirs.
Well, I’ll refrain from the “It’s a Japanese…” crap, has I always thought that was bull anyway, but it would appear that they don’t fear lossing the EU market has much has they desire to gain the NA. Deal with it.
@puddles – No, it’s not the EU complaining, only some ?#!!&~
on this forum. And PD won’t lose the Euroean market because of NASCAR. I’m sure, the vast majority welcomes it as another racing-series and even more diversity in GT
Ok, I’ll give you that. It only seems like EU vs. NA untill you inventory the whole page and come up with only a few people…
Shame I can’t reply now.
Anyway. JPM was a clown. As for him being the last of the late brakers, well; there’s a distinct difference between braking late and using someone else as a brake as he so often did, or refusing to accept that you’ve been passed and just turning in regardless of what’s around you. He was a typical product of American motorsport. Brash and arrogant, full of confidence in his own ability which it turned out he had little of when it came to a racing series that wasn’t glorified bumper cars. Like almost everyone who’s come from NAS or Champ cars, he had nowhere near the precision required to race The best drivers in the world and went back to the “B-league” of world motorsport.
If this is the caliber of driving that the NASCAR fans hope to emulate in GT5, then I’m glad we’ve got NASCAR to keep these numpties away from the proper racing.
Why are you so against nascar? I don’t like it myself but I’m glad its in the game. I am really not a fan of any American cars, but that’s another argument for another day. I think Nascar takes a lot more skill than you are giving credit for. Anyway, why don’t you put your money where your mouth is when GT5 comes out and race against a Nascar in, as you would call it, “a proper race car”. I think you will be suprised and maybe even get your butt handed to you. By the way, I don’t mean racing against it in an F1.
JPM was testing for Williams F1 before his US racing career got going, whilst he was racing (and winning) the F3000 championship in Europe. He raced in the US for about two years (winning CART series (not ovals) in his first year) and then winning the Indy 500 the following year – after that it was F1 all F1..
Montoya may be Colombian, but most of his race craft was developed racing open-wheelers in Europe.
What a waste…
Yup, why’d you post it. Could have used the space for DrTrouserFlakes trolling…..
Kaz said their making more..but currently its taking up 13 (I think) premium spot.thats bs.. ,i’d rather have more euro luxuary cars or something
@Kilzone
Thats the whole point, he is making the game with EVERYONE in mind, not just specific people. Someone could also argue that they would rather have these high powered beasts than dinky 75hp economy cars as premiums. Others may like to see the daily drivers more. Its all about reaching out to everyones interests. Maybe write Kaz a letter? :) For me, I like seeing as many different types of cars and variety as possible.
…Im hoping PD doesnt make EVERY SINGLE nascar team with every single car/driver.what a freaking waste that would be.. ,they’d be assuming all americans watch/love Nascar… ,imagine what a chunk of premiums these cars take up….
^^ If I’m not mistaken there are 3 different car models: Ford, Chevy, and Toyota. So that would take 3 spots up considering its three brands just with different liveries/stickers. I would be suprised if they counted each sponsored car as a different model even though its the same just with a different paintjob.
Only 200 or so premium cars and they have wasted 10 of them on NASCAR – what a waste!!!
Just 3, as I stated up the page a bit. It’s 3 cars, different liverys for each.
@theduke
some people do not even have to strain to take their ignorance and stupidity to the outside
you seem to be one of them
I hope they count it as one, they’re all the same ugly looking things. Good thing they have full damage, they’ll look nicer.
@FlareKR
Ehhh, DrTrouserFlakes trolling is a bit more passion inspiring. That was amatuer by comparrison. Or was that just a warm up?
@ Puddles
Just getting started :D
sorry!!! accepting a music title for the song in the E3 trailer of the GT5
Did anyone check the Official GT website, kaz is accepting a title name for
the E3 trailer of GT5
Half these images are basically flogging a dead horse. We need more new information.
I’m quite looking forward to Nascar as a new challenge. I don’t really watch any on TV, perhaps because I see the lap counter at 23 out of 500 laps and they’re just going round in a circle. However, I remember playing the nascar portion of Codemaster’s Lrace driver”; it was great, I liked the speed and the closeness of the racing. So I imagine that despite all the perceptions that nascar is boring, when playing in gt5 with incredible graphics and sense of speed, it’ll be a hoot!
And the NASCAR discussion starts again…omg.
Why some of you bashing NASCAR. Noone critisise you, that you watch Formula 1 or street racing.
I really like it and I think, it is a big plus to have the full NASCAR- trademark in the game with all its rules.
And the pics are hot, unbelievable detail.
so many premium spots wasted..
But just think, you can drive all these monstrosities that are identical other than who’s sponsoring them, and pretend you’re one of these hot-headed American racers who wasn’t good enough to get into a proper racing series.
I’m going to be Montoya. The man who couldn’t deal with F1; crashed into everyone he tried to overtake, and slinked back to the US with his tail between his legs.
Racing NASCAR’s seems about his level.
@Dr
If you hate NASCAR so much why you spend time in here and continue to post. Move on. If I didn’t like something I wouldn’t waste the time to keep talking about it. You are ignorant. PD is trying to appeal to the tastes and add something for everyone, but just because YOU or other europeans keep bitching about how much you dont like it, dont use them! This is what you sound like
“Whaa whaa I hate nascar they shouldnt be in Gran Turismo because **I** don’t like them” Well kaz obviously thought they were important enough to add. Whether you like them or not they are a huge part of motor racing. I like the idea of getting all kinds of flavors, instead of just 1 or 2 types.
Lol, yeah, I bet you’re a Schumacher fan or a Raikonnen fan… JPM was the last of the brave overtakers.
I’d never watched a NASCAR race before JP went to NASCAR, but now I never miss one… I like F1, but next to NASCAR, well it’s all just a little sterile… and though this season is more interesting, the actual racing is usually boring as ****, unless it rains.
Villenueve also went to Nascar. Couldn’t make it there.
He is a F1 Champ.
@Paulpg87- Only 3 premium spots were “wasted”. Nascar, so far by PD, is composed of 3 cars, each with different liverys. (chevy, ford, toyota)
“If I didn’t like something I wouldn’t waste the time to keep talking about it.”
You obviously dont like what the Dr. has to say about NASCAR, yet you keep coming back to attack his comments.
My opinion? NASCAR in GT is a shameless ploy on PD’s part to make more money from americans…simple as
^^^ So you are denying the fact that NASCAR is a huge part of motor racing, whether you enjoy it or not? I’m not the biggest NASCAR fan in the world but I can see why PD is adding them, just expanding on the enjoyment of racing and automobiles in all sorts of flavors for everyone to enjoy. I just think its pretty weak that someone has to constantly bash it just because it doesnt fit THEIR interests. NASCAR is a huge in the racing industry and will pull in alot more sales with them being included. Just sick of hearing people bash the inclusion of it because it doesnt fit THEIR tastes. Its a good thing that PD is including all sorts of motorsports and racing, giving something for everyone to enjoy, not just catering to a specific crowd. And again, if you don’t like the NASCAR, dont use them. Its just ignorant stating that because you dont like it that its a ‘waste’ when a good ammount of people are looking foward to it.
@Organ-donor
Yes, NASCAR is a huge part of motor racing, IN AMERICA. But everywhere else? ..hell no.
And your right, NASCAR doesnt fit my taste or interest. However i would be more inclined to just say its shite, as its about as exciting as watching paint dry.
I will state again that this is my opinion, so stop crying about it every time someone has something negative to say about this lame excuse for motor racing
Nascar: Everything Else is just a game
Such ignorance in this message board now. The game isn’t tailored specifically for you, it’s made for mass distribution. All the stupid comments about NASCAR shows your ignorance about motorsports. It’s a huge sport and deserves recognition as much as others, so get over it you bunch of Princesses
I don’t think Dr.TrouserPlank is evil enough to comment. Move out, my turn to troll!
NASCAR is a sport about subtlety, something lacking on those barbaric scandinavian tracks. Subtle variations based on one elegant model, like a Rothko color-field painting.
Its a shame that as soon as a little southern U.S. sensibility meets the european GT elitism, the “us vs. them” mentality ensues.
Automotive racing is not a sport! If Asians and Indians can compete with black people, it’s not a sport.
O_o
I guess we pretty much have to stop calling the olympics, football (both kinds), tennis, golf, etc sports then.
BTW, who has the silent wistle in here? Quit calling in the trolls. I just stepped in troll poo….
uh, yah, O_o for sure.
I’m guessing that’s supposed to be some kinda Tina Fey qoute or something. Otherwise it’s about the dumbest thing on the entire page.
Well, either way it isn’t too bright.
It is, google (or bing) “tina fey tiger woods masters”. Watch the video, somewhere around 2:20.
Ahhh, ok, thought it might be. Reason I said it wasn’t to bright either way was because the possible number of people who wouldn’t get it, and likely would take it very very wrong has a result.
Probbably a good thing you have provided an explanation for sure. :)
I confused Tina Fey with Tamie Fay (TV preacher’s wife with the bad make-up). That somehow made it seem like the Klan just arrived at GTP. oppps. Makes more sense now.
God forbid PD trying to appeal the game for everyone, to suite everyones tastes, shame on them.
I couldn’t agree more. Although I love racing games (the good ones that is) and have done so for 20 years, I,m still really worried about GT5, not that it will be a great game in it,s own right (which i,m sure it will be) but that PD may have chewed off more than it needed to trying to appeal to too many people by including too many racing genres (in what looks to be a very limited way) rather than just making a very focused street racer like the origional GT using todays technology to the fullest to deliver the definative version of the series.
Graet Pics, You can even see the modelation on the underside of the car.
Seriously, what’s the point when at such high resolutions all you can see is jaggies, poor textures, and low poly counts on the curves?
wow, you’re gonna complain about low poly count? lol
You have not heard the bang, eh?
Yes, at those resolutions, the textures look jaggy and around the wheel arches etc. are obvious straight lines. Looks lovely at the intended viewing distance. Does not look good at all when viewed at 18MP close up.
Perhaps that would be a problem if it were possible to travel into the future, where a game has finally been made where the cars have more than a pathetic half-a-million polygons each.
You haven’t seen my friend the paper tree have you. A four year old friend of mine made it, don’t hurt his feelings though, I already did.
All those years of playing Gran Turismo games, wishing NASCAR cars were in them so I didn’t have to play those godawful EA games. My dreams have come true. Nov 2 feels like a eternity away.
Holy cowz.
Wow, these cars are ugly…Are all Americans born without any sense of harmony and style?
I’d be happy to buy the 3rd type of collectors’ edition- EE (european edition) where these heaps of cr*p are removed. And yes, I am willing to pay more for less cars
Next step is adding F150, lincoln navigator and a white stretch hummer. After all the American market is the most important one…
@twin
They aren’t made for style and looks smartass. You don’t like them, dont use them. And your comment on Americans without sense of style, thats all opinion. I can name a handfull of European cars that are worthless and hurt to look at.
Well then you are a fool aren’t you!
GT has always been about diversity of cars so why is adding more a bad thing? The F150, though a woeful piece of engineering, has been the best selling vehicle in the US for years and so clearly should be included in GT.
Though I am not a great fan of watching NASCAR, you have to admit they know how to create a spectacle for the fans, something that F1 could definitely use!
As for NASCAR in games sign up to iRacing and have a go at NASCAR, I guarantee you will change your opinion.
@Organ-Donor
You are so right!!! The only some-what nice European cars are in the $100,000+ range. And these heaps of cr*p cars go to turn, they need driving skill, not 20 bagillion pounds of downforce or traction control. I mean did you see the new E3 video? Sebastian Vettel is a shrimp, he wouldn’t last a day in a cup car.
@Jimmy
Don’t get me wrong, I didn’t mean for it to sound that way, I love all cars from all over the world, its just the whole generalization that he was using kinda pissed me off. Some of my favorite cars are from Europe and Japan as well. But bang for the buck…the ZR-1 and Viper will stomp alot of the exotics for a fraction of the price.
Yep, all those of ugly American cars…oh wait, what’s that? A Toyota? Oh, there’s another one…and another. Last time I checked, Toyota wasn’t exactly an American company. Try knowing what you’re talking about next time. It’s actually pretty useful.
Your an idiot. That is all
Just envious people of the greatest country in the world, USA. Everybody’s an internet tough-guy when hiding behind a keyboard…don’t worry about it Organ, I hear ya.
Aaaaaaahahahaha! just pissed myself laughing at that one… made my day…
@Jimmy H… care to explain why what makes Vettel a shrimp. You couldn’t ask for much more of a man who’s just starting his racing career. Also there are many Euro sports cars that a fun as hell under 100.000. Nothing against the Vette and Viper but keep in mind these cars guzzle massive amounts of gas at all rpm ranges only possible in America, whereas Europeans manufacturers strive for high power using higher compression with more sophisticated technology, in turn making more “gasoline-free” power. I can tell you Europeans can build a car with a monster engine any day to compete with the American supercars, but they don’t because their reputation would decline after building a gas guzzling monster. Remember Gas prices in Europe are almost double that of US, which is why diesels are so dominent there. America lives off oil.
I love to see that Dodge Challenger commericial they showed at the World Cup over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over!
I’m so sorry the USA kicks so much ass. Here’s an American-made tissue for you.
You should probably look up facts before you spew stupid crap like this. Look at the comparison between Corvette ZR1, Viper ACR, Merc SL65 Black Series, and a Lambo LP640 done by Car and Driver, the Viper had the best highway mpg and the corvette had the best city mpg, so basically the Europeans can build a car without monster engines that get less gas milage than the “omfg huge fat inefficient american engines”…..
@funrun-
Sorry, i exagerated about Vettel. He is a good driver but i was just got way too pissed at the people taking cr*p about NASCAR. Listen, what do I know about him, for all I know, he might he could be the worlds greatest. SOrry, thats all i have to say…
Im off to Silverstone this weekend. Ill keep my eyes out for GT5 if its there.
Look at the ridiculous rears on those cars.
Utterly shapeless American engineering that does what all American cars do…. go fast in a straight line. Don’t try turning a corner (at least not a right-hand one) because that’s where the thought went out the window in the design process.
How ignorant you are DrTrouser. Go look up nurburgring lap times for the ZR-1 Corvette and Dodge Viper SRT-10 ACR….they are in the top 10 for fastest production vehicles on that track. Get some facts before sounding ignorant.
Some facts for that ridiculous selfproclaimed Dr:
As far as I know, the Viper SRT 10 ACR is still in the lead
with 7:22:01 (production-cars). It took the record from the Corvette ZR1 7:26:xx
i bet you feel dumb now Dr. Maybe you should change ur name
CORVETTES ARE DOMINATING in the GT3 european championship races :D
sorry to burst your big fat american bubble boys, but the production lap record belongs to a ferrari
Actually I think you’ll find that record belongs to Zonda, and the Zonda R @ 6m47s…
@tommy
point out in my “big fat american” post where I said the ZR1 or Viper held the #1 spot?? IF you can learn reading comprehension I stated that they held top 10 times. And on that note, they beat alot of cars that cost twice or three times as much.
Ah…i stand corrected, zonda R it is.
Organ-Donor: Point out in my post where i said i was responding specifically to you. Obviously “reading comprehension” is something your lacking
you said “boys” which is plural which means you were directing that statement at ‘us’ and not just him. No big deal.
I just watched both cars on YouTube. The Ferrari 599XX and the Zonda R are impressive cars, but we are talking about production-cars, they are in another category.
The 599XX is a production-derived racer, and the driver of the Pagani, which is a real race-car, even said it’s comparable with former Group C cars. Would be the same, as if Chevrolet came to the ring with their LeMans Corvette
Utterly shapeless piece of wood. Oh wait, that’s you.
I wanna 18mpx shots of a nsx r or maybe even Godzilla .. Maybe a civic type r.. a better yet a datsun or a fairlady z.. These are cars I wanna see in gt5s glory… not a NASCAR like really NASCAR. Smh
alucard0712 – cant you just google it :D There is plenty of photos of nascar cars in google graphic. Just type “nascar car office depot” in example :D
some people don’t google…some BING! so maybe that’s why :P
^^^Really?I don’t know that!!!Thanks!!!Can you provide some real-life shots of the NASCAR cars?I wish to compare! ;)
sure…look here: http://cache3.asset-cache.net/xc/85791403.jpg?v=1&c=IWSAsset&k=2&d=77BFBA49EF8789215ABF3343C02EA548A31B79ACB4A873F60D6FB28512C04AE2BD4B6535581518F4E30A760B0D811297

See the first link above or http://www.zgeek.com/forum/gallery/files/1/0/8/nascar.gif with some chicks…or google for “nascar”…
Do you see headlights?It’s textures!Seems we have MORE THAN 16 CARS on track at the same time!
Oh…oh…yes…texture
http://vacations-by-city.com/articles/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/nascar1.jpg
BECAUSE THE REAL ONE GOT TEXTURE AS WELL!
No, it’s because they’re stickers!! it would be unrealistic if they actually modeled the headlights because in real life they are not, remember NASCAR cars are much like a car with a big sticker on top of it!… The textures of the headlights look exactly as they do in real life.
this is marketing 101 guys cony did not spend the big bucks for nothing.This is to tap another set of ppl in NA to generate more money they know the die hards will come back so now they are trying to tap a new market touche sony touche
completely agree. I don’t even know if Kaz really like those old american cars, or if he’s just putting it in to attract NA buyers.
Hope to see that environment in photomode, very minimalist in it’s philosophy.
When come the hybrid NASCARs???:)
They look great..but,I mean.seriously,they’ll have all of them and their taking up premium space.I’d rather have more everyday cars as preumium, you can modify those.I doubt they’l let us mod any race car and in my opinion,race cars in general are making too big a part of the 200 car roster..
A few premium race cars from a few big series will, overall, please a lot more people than a few more premium production cars. There are just too many production cars out there, hence PD’s carefully considered compromise.
Also, think of it this way: Including really good NASCAR vehicles now will introduce a HUGE new market to Gran Turismo which will in turn get Polyphony Digital TONS more money and therefore have the resources to make LOTS of premium cars as DLC :)
Uhh not sure how gtplanet didn’t catch this but I found new trailer.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bs8IYi89D8s&playnext_from=TL&videos=07GlY9KPki8
That video was released last month and is mentioned in this post.
My reaction to this: YAY MORE SCREENSHOTS!!! Oh, it’s just nascars…
Nascar sucks donkey dong.
Thanx for the update anyway Jordan.
seriously? just stop
Amazing shots to say the least!
I wonder if there will be a new version of the new COT body type, perhaps available as DLC, because the cars did just literally change this past weekend.
Also, I read in a Road & Track magazine article that NASCAR will be upgrading to fuel injection some time in 2011. Should make for some interesting advantages.
Can’t wait to see what new WRC cars will look like in 18mp,simply astonishing!
that was the nationwide series not th sprint cup those were the new cars for that series
this is pornography in its purest form
can’t wait for the game
it’ll be worth the wait, i’m hella sure of it
It’s crazy how I never liked NASCAR until GT5….amazing marketing…..
LOL
you’re absolutely right hahahaha
same here
LOL!! me too!!! :D
I still don’t. Especially ovals boring. And how sincere the commentator sounds everytime when the leader just got t-boned and spins off into the wall: “OHHHHH NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO…”
I’m still not liking nascar and never will, so they failed to market it to me.
I still don’t like it but on the bright side, at least I’ll contantly be going fast and trying to go faster at 300km +.
Actually GT5:P got me into Nascar. I raced on the Daytona oval a lot and grew an appreciation for the skill it takes. I’m no longer an ignorant guy who thinks, “they just go in circles” anymore. The fierce competition and the nice use of drafting to fight for positions made me realize how much skill it takes.
That, and after I watched Pixar’s “Cars” with my brother. I love that movie!
I too found myself getting more and more interested. I read a lot of NASCAR history and discovered that most of what NASCAR haters hate has little to do with Americans in general, but rather is the result of 60 years of misguided decisions by the racing organization itself. Would be nice if they updated the cars though… they’re shockingly primitive. Basically an 870hp engine with some scaffolding bolted to it. But for some reason I doubt that PD will include their tendency to go on 3 wheels while cornering at Infineon and Watkins Glen haha
I’m really not looking foreward to all of the Nascar rednecks playing GT5. I played the Nascar game by EA; all they did was work on setups and say GT5P wasn’t a “real” racing game. Let’s pawn those noobs.
rednecks arent the only ones who play nascar you know…:(
Oh I know. That was just the annoying ones on there. I live in a huge Nascar town and I’m a Nascar fan. I just don’t see it fitting well. I’m glad Activision is making a Nascar 11 game next year.
Shut the *bleep* up. I hate how everyone assumes that all NASCAR fans are rednecks. So please, think the next time you say something like that about the US’s most popular sport.
Have you ever played NASCAR 09? A lot of those ‘rednecks’ are pretty good at setting up cars, so don’t even talk.
*and yes, NASCAR is America’s most popular sport
Jimmy H
Like I said before, I’m not downing Nascar. I live in Darlington, SC…a Nascar capital. The point I was trying to make, was the fact that those people on Nascar 09 will come over to GT5 and do NOTHING but race those cars. I believe that everyone in GT5 should spread out their gameplay. The guys in 09 would be on there for days turning laps for setups. I used to win all the time for the little time I played 09 (until I got tired of the guys with their “sacred” setups). It’s sort of like the guys on MW2 that play it twelve hours at a time. It just ruins the fun for everyone else. Well.. maybe I’ll be seeing you on the track and see how it goes.
Oh ok. Sorry then. good point
I agree with akS2K16, I’m definently not a redneck, and I enjoy the sheer thrill of NASCAR. I also watch F1, IRL, Rolex what-ever-you-call-it, and I watched a fair bit of 24 Hours of Le Mans.
So yeah, not to beat a dead horse, but NASCAR is vital in the USA. I’ve owned a couple of NASCAR games myself, and I can say that there are quite a few redneck fans. But up north (Indiana & Michigan), most people are hard working, blue collar families that enjoy a nice, 200 mph traffic jam.
And yes, the NASCAR games made by EA are trash, just like every other sports game they make (yes, I really am saying that). The only reason people buy them is because they’ve monopolyed the sports franchises, (NFL and NCAA mainly) and people just want to simulate what their fantasy sports would be like.
NASCAR has a tarnished reputation. All people say is “they only turn left, how hard can it be?”. Ask any of the “go-or-go-homers” (drivers that have to qualify in) how hard it is to go left. Play GT5P, drive a Corvette, and see how bumpy, dynamic, and hard it is to drive in an oval.
I, too, am also not a fan of NASCAR in GT5. I like the fact they do have NASCAR, but only 9 drivers/teams? C’mon man! I think they should go big, or go home. We basically only have 3 official tracks to race on, IMS, Daytona, and Infinion(assuming that the stock car setup is in, and the track itself.) Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be one of the first to drive in reverse on Test Course and slam into the leader (hopefully, Jimmie Johnson).
Rant, off.
Sorry about the long post, just thought I’d clear it up.
The real advantage of Nascar for Kaz and PD is that: all the car body shapes are the exact same… no difference… just have to apply the livery of each team… and the work is done…
Does that mean further confirmation that Livery Editor will be in GT5… ?
REally nice pics, but Aside from Nascar, can we have other cars images too? Please dont make me get sick of Nascar even before i got the game in my hands…
after wating a lot, i have to say this.
all you people who go to all this events and take videos of GT 5, you are really stupid. no one crashes the car really violent and then change the camara to actually see the damage. you only choose “premium cars”, choose a normal “standar” car and try using the interior view, to clear all doubts. i have alot of complains, about all this people. (not to GTplanet.)
I think that in the demos, there only are Premium cars.
let´s hope. if not, o my god. such a waste.
you can even see the welds under the spoiler!!! :o
…and the barcode on the tires! :O
now i know why they would think they may have put too much detail into there cars :) im fine with it though … the wait will be worth it
and you can also see how f****ing ugly they are!! Im so sick of all the hype around nascar in this game. It is maybe one of its only flaws.
wow they are amazingly realistic… can you imagine what the PD teams cars will look like when we have real time ray tracing?!?! probably epic!!!
Shame. Another set of 18megapix shots of texturing work that is way to lores to hold up to scrutiny.
Also take a look at those head lights.Cmon PD, we’re not in the 19th century anymore. One additional face for the headlights and a separate surface to catch reflections please? Just tacking the texture on the glass geometry looks really really poor
because they’re sticker headlights in real life?
Dude, NASCAR cars are ALL stickers. Yes even the headlights are stickers in real life.
You really think PD would make headlight flat 2D textures?
@another3dartist: You realize this game runs on the 3 year old PS3 hardware, do you?
@another3dartist
you made my day :D
NASCAR-cars have no headlights. Every part of the livery are stickers, even the headlights. NASCARs are stockcars with a body frame, covered by a lightweight bodywork
@another3dartist Are you serious? In real life the head and tail lights are STICKERS lol. haha. You obviously have no idea about anything in NASCAR.
@Jimmy H- it’s true. Just google a real image of one and you’ll see.
@another3Dartist
LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This fail is legendary! I can just imagine this guys ego when coming in here. “I’m a 3D artist so I know! This headlights aren’t rendered well at all. hmph!”
Sorry I had to join in the loling @ this guy.
Wow. That was funny.
Well if the headlights don’t look like real ones, then I guess PD did a good job! lol
It’s true, I don’t know much about NASCAR and that fail was funny! Not afraid to laugh about myself.
But still those many of those vynils and the head light stickers just look like graphics downloaded from the web. Maybe I’m wrong again, but I don’t vynils are printed from a 200×200 images that makes the print appear aliased like that.
