Help! Jeff Gordon NASCAR final three races

I have read a myriad of threads on this and keep getting guys who say to take the brakes to 0/0 (and they are not talking about the A races, but the NASCAR school)--which I have no idea how to do. And they also said that after the race starts you can put the ABS back to 0 to kill the ASM--which I cannot see how to do. The last race the Lowes car pulls away even with me right behind it and the whole packs runs away from me time after time. They hit the wall and I don't, yet they pull away. It is staring to piss me off-- I already have a half dozen NASCAR cars, so getting the car is not the point. Just wanted to get golds but I am not doing well on this. I have a G27 I am using. I also have to use Auto tranny on this as if I use manual, as soon as the race starts it drops me form 3rd to 1st gear instantly (as the computer turns control over to me.

And advice is appreciated. I am re-learning driving from the DS3 to the G27-- thought it would be easier with the wheel! Still having issues with the NASCAR stuff and the Vettel crap.
 
At the NASCAR School if you have any ads on beside the ABS you'll fail almost every time due to the ads slowing you down.
 
Solution: If you have the G27, reason why the car goes from 3rd to 1st when you gain control is because your shifter is in 1st gear, put it in 3rd gear before the race starts and then when you need to shift to 4th. I cant remember which one it is, but in the Daytona race, you will need to draft off of the Number 48 car I think, cant remember which one but its the one thats able to pull away from the back pack and merge with the leading pack. If you dont draft that car you wont make it in time.

Just concentrate on where you need to be on the track, make small corrections, follow the drafting lines. I also have a G27 and it took me a few tries, some of the aids you couldn't turn off, donno if you able to now after all the updates as I did this back in December. What I remember doing is getting physical with the AI and blocked as many as I could as often as I can.

It's only AI, they don't have a soul, so its ok.
 
YouTube is your bestfriend here. Beat it just by just looking at this guys video. Nothing else also with a controller. I highly suggest this over anything else.
 
You need to turn abs off because for some unknown reason it causes the traction control to stay on. I was struggling to gold those events until i read on this forum to turn the abs off as well as tc , i then golded them first go. hope this helps.

This is the issue-- I can't turn off ABS. 1 is as low as it goes. I will look for youtube videos and since I usually use my paddles, I didn't think about checking where the manual shifter is. Perhaps it is in 1st or 2nd gear. I will work on it today. Thanks guys for sharing the advice. Now perhaps if anyone can share some actual driving talent??:)

Hot damn. Finally got gold on the pit one. As I was trying to get the best draft I kept getitng too close to the wall so any bump tossed me into it. Just one touch and the race is lost. Also have to let the red car hit me to get enough speed to draft the car on the outside lane. Ok, on to Indy. Cue the video!
 
Not so good on the last one. DO have bronze now; was diving low in the final turn for first and the lead car turned down into me and DQ.ed me.

I've been trying race 3 on Daytona for over 2 hours yesterday (G25).
ABS to one, everything else off...
Can't seem to get it done though.
My best is 2nd place, and that was luck.
Why the hell can't I turn ABS or ASM off anymore???
It really sucks...

Kiwi, watch the video on it that's posted on here. Watch who he drafts and how quick he gets to the front group.

If you're using paddles leave the gear lever in neutral.

FORGET EVERYTHING EVERYONE SAID.
This is what I did:
As of patch 1.10, they made it almost impossible. You cannot turn ABS off, wich causes ASM to be on none stop. ASM will reduce ur speed DRASTICLY during corners. Back up your save game data just in case. REMOVE your internet cable from the ps3. Delete the GT5 softwear (DO NOT delete save game data, just remove the game itself). Install it back, with the first patch of the game. Since the cable is not conected you wont be able to update. Go to the school, turn ABS Off, wich will turn off asm. Go race your ass off. As for the first race (Joining the pack after pitting), sharp turn to the track and let a car bump to your butt. Use auto coz You won't see it coming, and the speed will jump. Without asm (ABS), you wont get speed reduce. Just be carefull not hiting anyone. From then just trial and error. Ones u complete, re save ur gamesave data and update GT5. Mission complete. Tip! Dont brake befor corners at indy. Maybe just abit, but mostly just keep low throttle or let go of it. Hope this helps!

This morning, after spending 2 hours on this challenge yesterday, I did it on the 3rd try...
Won by 0.9 seconds.
Very hard, but doable.
Though very annoying and frustrating.
The AI doens't seem to have that ASM problem :indiff:
 
Got 1st with 5 tries on indy. Pretty easy just draft draft draft on the straits then pass pass pass on the corners when under braking. I used DFGT with:
ABS:1
Active steering:embarrassed:ff
Transmission:automatic

Hopes it works :)
 
That might be where I'm screwing up on the very last race, I've been so used to using a manual maybe automatic might be a better solution in this case!

None of this is necessary. I've done it since 1.10 came out.
 
I got gold last nite on the final Jeff Gordon school-(2 laps at Daytona). Used standard DS3.

I used:

controller sensitivity -2
Abs 1
manual trans

Won by .059 seconds at the stripe!!! Practice, practice, practice. Steady as she goes, follow the Lowe's car thru the first turn, hitting 221mph at the turn. Stay slightly below the Lowe's car line, and then follow the first green car on the backstrech, hitting 234mph before the next turn. Go low, stay in the draft. As the explanation says, any mistake will cost you....
 
If you still have trouble:

At the start, draft the Jimmy Johnson car right at your front. Keep the steering steady so that you won't lose precious speed by nudging the wall. Next, keep on the outside line, or to make matters simple, keep following Jimmy Johnson. Exit speed of that corner should be 200 mph or above. Now keep to the right because that's where most of the racers are. Before attacking the next corner, you must be 380 km/h or above. Take the inside, but don't be too dangerously close to the line. Just a little distance from the line and the cars and you'll be okay. Stay in the inside line before the back straight to overtake these guys. You must be like 5th place or something now. Slingshot the remaining and overtake on the inside. Be careful though, one of these guys will spin you out, leaving you in frustration.

Also be extra careful, because even the slightest nudge will disqualify you. Leave a bit of space between each other. Don't hit the wall, it may lose precious speed, or even worse, you will get stuck there like a magnet and be slowed down.

Entirely possible. I redid the test yesterday and got gold by having ABS at 10.
