Some of you may know this and some may not but Snow Leopard can connect with a PS3 controller over Bluetooth out the box. (Make Mac Discoverable + Press PS Button on Controller)

My problem is how can I use my controller to operate stuff on my Mac? I cannot configure it to do anything! Are there any free programs available to make use of the controller?

I'm downloading Colin McCrae Rally Demo to see if the controller works. I was just confused as I couldn't configure anything in the Bluetooth options.

EDIT: Tried with VisualBoy Advance, works a treat :D:tup:

That's awesome, because it requires quite some fiddling to get working in Windows XP/Vista.

Dunno, but on linux, you can configure xorg so that you control the mouse with your analog sticks and have l/r mouse buttons assigned to buttons on the sixaxis, so you should be able to use it as a remote control.

I'm not quite sure what link with more Info you are after, can you be more specific?

I've made a important observation earlier that needs to be known. Once you have finished using the controller, You MUST remove the PS3 controller from your Bluetooth Devices. Then you can re-sync with your PS3.

If you do not remove the controller from your bluetooth devices your controller will never connect to your PS3 wirelessly, even after being synchronized.

I can't help with free mapping software but I used Pinnacle Game Profiler so I could use a 360 controller on the PC.

It's pretty good and I'm sure it works with pretty much any controller. When I used it for MW2 on the PC I mapped the analogue sticks to 'work as' the mouse which sounds like what you're trying to do.

Actually I've got a driver from just after the PS3 launch that allowed me to use the SIXAXIS over USB. The main issue is that you have to run the app (which just runs a few commands in cmd.exe) and have the PS3 switched off so that it connects over the USB rather than turning on the PS3 over BT. I used it for some N64 emulation.
