Hi Guys, first post on GTP. If this is in the wrong place I apologise, I searched the topic and found nothing.

I want to buy a wheel, unfortunately the back of beyond country that I'm in is short on PS3 peripherals. All I have found so far for sale is this http://www.geniusnet.com/wSite/ct?xItem=16809&ctNode=165&mp=1 Does anyone have any experience with this wheel, will it work. Is it worthwhile getting? I know it's no DFGT but it's the best I've been able to find.

Let me know what you think.

I am thinking as well of getting this wheel. Did you buy it? If yes than how is it????

Thx

Nope, I haven't bought it yet. Should be getting it end of this week though so I'll post back and let you know how it goes. I'm fairly certain it will work with GT5, but the question mark is whether the FFB will work or not. It uses immersion for FFB so i'm guessing the legal wrangle with Sony a few years back might've caused them to disable it for PS3.

Ok great - gonna wait to see how you like the wheel. As it is compared to the Logitech Driving Force half price.

Well just check when it does not have force feedback if it gives any response as to whan you drive over gravel if the wheel does vibrate and so on.

Looking forward to your review.

So, got the Genius Twin Wheel and hey presto it works!

Now when i say it works i mean you can accelerate, change gear and steer. Force feedback does not work however (even though when you plug it in the motors will run and it calibrates itself) but i'm not shocked at this because this is clearly stated in the user manual. More surprising is that there is no vibration effect... It's hardly new technology!!

The motors do work when you're racing , but purely for re-centering the wheel. Build quality seems decent. There is some play in the wheel shaft but nothing unpleasant or unexpected. 900degree mode is useless, when set to 270 degree the response is much better and more accurate.

The pedals and shifter seem very well made, more so maybe than the wheel itself. And the leather feel material on the wheel is very pleasant to the touch.

Overall i'm very happy. Another $175 on top for a DFGT purely for FFB would not have been worthwhile for me. ( Those were the only to options where i am unfortunately, yes DFGT was going to cost $320 ) And FFB is still available if i ever use it for PC gaming.

Bear in mind this is my first and only wheel. So take my opinions with a pinch of salt.

Thx for the review. I have a few questions regarding the wheel as i am thinking of getting it as well:
So when you drive of track you do not feel any vibration from the wheel? Thats funny, my budget wheel for 30 eur does that.
When you press the acclerator pedal is it always full throtel or can you adjust the throtell depending on how hard you press the pedal???
900 degress is usless?? what do you mean??? I hoped that the 900 degress function would be decent as that what i would like from that wheel. You can adjust after the new update the steering sensitivity - did u try that out?????

Regarding FFB - i do not need that as well.
Thx

Steering and acceleration are Analogue, so yes you can vary your throttle and and braking inputs.

There is no vibration whatsoever, and i just can't figure out why not because even the cheapest controller known to man has vibration. It's still possible that it's not turned on, i haven't had a chance yet to really check out the settings.

I don't have the latest updates so i don't have sensitivity controls. That being said, it's worth noting that not having the updates there may be other things that would be different about the wheel with them installed.

I'm not sure how 900 degrees is supposed to work, but with this wheel when you use 900degree mode it means you have to turn the wheel almost a full turn before you get any response from the vehicle which is frustrating and slow. I much prefer 270degree mode because you get quick inputs with more than enough finesse.

Can i ask you one favour? Try the 900 degree mode when you in cockpit view. As how does it look when you turn the wheel.

And i did read somwhere that you have to always calibrate and re map the controls when you start the ps3 again.

Try the 900 degree when you download the new update and tell how it feels.

THX a lot

So does your wheel vibrate now? I found out that you can turn this on and off in the game. Probably you did turn it off as my budget wheel - a pieco of junk - does at least vibrate when i go of track. Which actually i turn of now because the wheel vibrates now in a strange way. - heh -

You can turn this on and off in the option menu under control vibration function.

And sorry for this question - how much does it turn when in 270 degree mode??

Do you think the wheel will last long - meaning the quality of how its made etc. ..
