Just saw that ... looks like this is how they will unlock the special suits and helmets. I hope it's a challenge. Vettel and Stig gear can't be too far off.

That's what I'm thinking. I hope there is an actual challenge to these events.

That is exactly what I am thinking. Something tells me the closer Forza 4 gets, the better this game is going to get.

I too hope it's a challenge, can't wait!

EDITED: Weird it seems to have been removed on the GT news list.

I remember it saying: 11est time there will be an online event held and the winners of the events will receive Jeff Gordan Gear. As soon as I went back to take a picture of it for this thread, it was gone.

Possibly the release of the patch too?

PD announced the patch for end this month..

If they make it a America only to win tickets to NASCAR or something and Europe + Japan aren't allowed... Well because GT5 is all ages i will not mention it.

It was a news item that said there would be a new NASCAR seasonal event on August 24th at 11 PM EST, and that there would be special prizes including Jeff Gordon's helmet and racing suit for use in game. It had a picture of Jeff Gordon in the news item in full racing gear.

One question.

WHERE was this information seen?
Could someone please provide a link or more info.
I've had a quick look but been unable to find anything.

I've had a quick look but been unable to find anything.

It was on the in game news list, right above the current seasonal news. Clicking on that brought up detailed information about the event.

"Well because GT5 is all ages i will not mention it. "

If true it's just a contest. Plenty of contests are regional.

Trust me, you are not missing anything. I haven't followed Nascar in years, but I did have a chance to attend a race a few months ago and it was hell on earth. It was the absolute worst motorsport event I've ever seen. No organization. Not even basic sanitation. If you like Nascar, watch it on TV.

Oval racing is supposed to make spectating much easier, but at some point, there are simply too many fans in one location and it's completely miserable. They got too greedy, IMO.

What track did you go to? Chicagoland is very well run and clean. Boring as hell though, not a very exciting race.

Auto Club Speedway is the same way. Everything is pretty much in order but the racing is horrible.

It was Kentucky Speedway. I got tickets from my employer and was in the area for work.

I also have attended Texas Motor Speedway (many years ago) and thought it wasn't very good. Not awful, but pretty bad.

I much prefer roadcourses for spectating.

Anyway, the races themselves seem more and more artificial these days. The entire event is meaningless because they will just bunch everyone up at the end. There's very little room for different and interesting car innovations. But that's built in and Nascar fans probably like those aspects (For some reason).

I want to see different ideas tested on the track to see which ideas are better. I want to see true endurance, where if your car is better every lap, after hundreds of laps you are way ahead and untouchable.

Polyphony Digital has, curiously, announced a special “NASCAR-themed online racing event” to be held in GT5‘s Seasonal Events next Monday, August 29th at approximately 8:00PM PST. Though specifics remain sparse, they have confirmed a unique prize for the event will be available in the form of Jeff Gordon’s 2010 driving suit and helmet. Kazunori Yamauchi has also commented on the event via Twitter.

This is the first time a GT5 Seasonal Event has been announced in advance, so it will be interesting to see if anything makes it particularly notable other than the unique prize. The starting time of the event also roughly coincides with a period of scheduled maintenance for GT5‘s online services.
THIS I S A COPY FROM GT5 NEWS FORUM.
