[GUIDE] How to zoom external view

go to --> Options --> multyscreen

select

modes: server
ip (don't change)
layout 3x1
border 0%
curvature 0°
screen tilt 87% (or less if you want more zoom)

Cars ingame now looks much more detailed !

It works for interior too, but you have a scale from 50 to 100%... so you can't make the view wider, only narrower :/ Nice find, but it's useless for me unless they change it so we can take 50 to 150 scale or something like that.
 
Pretty cool. I'm surprised more people don't know about this considering the games is a few years old lol.
 
I had heard of this before but when I went into multi screen settings I got scared of lots of options I didn't understand so left it alone, now though I will have a play around with it. 👍
 
I thought we knew about this since the game was released? But thanks anyway. I hate how the camera is so far away from the car. Bring back the GT3/4 camera please....
 
Will definitely try this, always thought it was a bit of a waste having such detailed cars so far away. Now it would be nice if we could rotate the camera :P

There's a bit a problem when doing this, some cars like the SLR Mclaren (premium) are located extremely low on-screen, almost touching the bottom border of your tv, so zooming out will chop the image and you will only look half of the car right at the bottom, so the cars need to be centered in the field of view for this to work properly

When you use that cars is sufficient set less zoom. I wonder why PD not put inside pause menù an option to regulate the distance of external view just like for the interior :confused:

Yeah, still, there are only like 6 or 7 cars in the whole game that have this problem, so this settings work great with the rest of the cars, especially really little ones, also, with the in-race quick options menu, the settings Wide, Zoom and Extra Zoom for the cockpit view, sometimes are too close or too far away, with your settings the balance is just perfect for all cars.

Wish you could make it wider in cockpit.. and have cam closer to windshield somehow.

The only way to do that is with triple screens, cuz with just one flat tv, you only get around 60 degrees of view while we have 180 degrees of view IRL, three screens can give you around 150 degrees, much closer to our real life perception.

A quick question to all who have done this, does it provide a better effect on the sensation of speed at all when using cockpit or bumper views?

No, the sensation of speed remains the same
 
Will check tomorrow. Though it's a shame that it doesn't improve cockpit view. I want the camera to be further away or wider.
 
There's no way to search every old thread or topic so even if this is 'old' news it is new news for many. Thanks for the new post! There is no way anyone would think, hmmm I wonder how to zoom an external view, maybe I should try the advanced search function on GTPlanet....
