I thought of this idea last night. We could do something like the GT3 drift competitions, but instead of video's we could use photo's since most everyone can get one of them. We could maybe use a panel of judges or voting. This is just an idea, and maybe you guys will like it.

Id be down.

Ok sounds good. Three people so far couting myself. If we can get some more then I will start organizing it more. How many people do you think we should have for one of these?

This has been said before. You cant judge a proper drift just by a picture.

Ex.

Although this picture came out beautiful (at least I think it did) my line is off, and this drift ended in a wild and violent spinout (still getting used to the snapback from the DS2)

May I suggest a "best pic" comp??

That's what it is supposed to be, the best looking picture wins. 👍

People, please. He isn't talking about judging the drift. It's about the dramatic value of the image. Who cares if you spin out? This is for fun, not skill. Well, not drifting skill, anyway. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I thought the same thing. He is looking for the best picture, not the nest drift.

Totally visual man. Best looking pic wins

great idea. i dont have a vidcap card so i cant make videos, and cause im a cheap ass im not getting one.

if its possible, you could set up a poll so everyone could vote instead of having a panel of judges. only problem w/ this is that some people have access to multiple computers, not sure if that allows you to vote more then once, maybe not if you have to log in.

Just some suggestions on how it could be done, each person who wants to be involved would submit 1 picture then everyone participatings pictures are all posted with no names associating them with the creators. whoever posts the group of pictures cant vote.

If no one is able or willing to take on the task of running the contests maybe the participants could switch off week to week and take turns posting the pics.

It would probably be best to have some sort of time frame like 1 contest per week, submit by this day and you have X days to vote once the pics are posted. # of participants allowed each week should probably be limited, maybe 10-15.

of course all kinds of limits could be used, like everyone has to use the same type of car on the same track, forcing an equal playing field so to speak.

what do you guys think?

Cool, not a bad turnout. Thanks for helpng clarify up that this is for the best dramatic value of the drifting photo. I think we could get a pretty good turnout. Hey ZeroDrifter, I don't get the point your trying to get across. :odd:

Edit:To the poster above me; that is a good idea to have some limitations. Definately there should be a limitation on the track I think, but not sure about a car limitation. What do you guys think?

set up a panel of judges (say 5 people) that are known for being good drifters and/or good with photos (maybe a photographer or two... as in a real one).

i would be definitely in... buying a usb flash card in a few minutes.

Well, so far we got about 8 people that would like to give this a try...If we can get a steady ten i'll start the competition. 👍

some king of drift..i wanna battle you then

Whoa, uhm, NK4E. he is right about one thing that just a photo can not be evaluated because the judge or somone may not even know if the picture was right before a spin out, or something..

And IMHO nk4e, chill out with the challenging. He even wasnt being mean or saying he is the "king of drift"

bustwave.

Lol, no I mean by video, not pictures, the pictures just make cool BGs on Pcs ^_^

Yeah I also meant video. Chill out with challenging. I still don't think you should challenge somone that has just joined the boards and that just had his/her opinion on something as small as "evaluating a drift picture"

And IMHO this whole "Drift Photo Competitions" is kind of pointless. A pictures doesn't show skill or control.

Oh nevermind do what you want...

In all fairness, drifting as a whole is pointless. It's about fun, which is what this contest is for. Just entertainment. I think it'd be best if we all just relaxed and stopped taking this topic so seriously. :indiff:

Bustwave. This isn't about judging the drift itself. This is about judging the photograph that involves drifting. It's to judge the photo's dramatic effect involving drifting. Looks like we have enough people now, we just need to decide to use a panel of judges, or voting. What do you guys think.

I think voting in a poll could work. Each poll option would be the user's name, and the first to make it to 15 votes or however many you think it should be wins.

Ok, im thinking we can try one week with a panel of judges, then one voting. After that we can decide on whether to use a panel or voting.
