Welcome To The World Rally Championship Series Information Page

Hello everyone, my name is Jerome (jump_ace) and this is my first series I'll be heading up,
during this time I would like give you guys some basic information, basically Nitro is NOT doing the series
and I am. Now that that is all cleared up, I am going to group the rally cars into 4 Divisions. You may
compete in 1 or all 4 divisions. Division 1 Rally Race Cars (i.e. Mitsubishi Super Rally Car, Subaru Rally Prototype etc..)
Division 2, SUV division, there aren't too many to choose from, but then again no other series has run these yet, that I know of.
Division 3, 'regular' rally cars, these will be defined in a list coming soon in the next month or so,
but basiclly you can depend on seeing all of your rally cars here like all the Evo's, Impreza's, Clio's w/e..
Division 4 is the classic era division, with the old school feel of the Ford RS, and Integrale.

As for length of time I am thinking 6 to 8 weeks, as there aren't too many rally tracks compared to tarmac,
but I would like to make a voting poll of how many weeks to make the series and which tracks to run.
Majority wins, as I want to make the series actually FUN for u guys, if possible.

I will keep a point system as well, and a weekly leaderboard, much like the one found here:
http://www.jumpace.com/gt/AMC/index.htm

This is my first step and I want to express that anyone can pitch in an idea for improvement and if enough people
support it, then great! Wish granted! LOL. I will also make a sign up thread later.
GL and Get Diry!

Yeah I am half expecting I'll have to open up a part A and part B to the regular rally division to allow more normal cars to run that can install dirt tires, but I dont want it to get where everyone is using the Ford GT on Dirt tires just to win either, so I wont allow EVERY car. I was also thinking of adding these this as well:
Open time posting; where everyone will tell their final lap/race time (yeah one race would be cool I think) as well as thier splits.

But again, if just about everyone wants to keep our final times a secret, that is fine too. If anyone would like to help with testing shoot me a pm sometime, no big hurry here as I wont finish the muscle car series until Nov anyway.

Oh man, I can't believe I missed this the other day. I'm definitely down for this. You are going to have dirt and tarmac rallyes, aren't you?

BTW, if you need some assistance, don't hestitate to ask. I'll help out the best I can.

Yup! Im up for this one! 👍
I aint so greeat at rally! so this should be a good place to up my skills in that department :)

Yeah, I am wanting to leave most of our options to a democratic voting poll. U know whether we should do a rally at Nurb or not...ummm NOT!!! LOL. So thus far I was thinking of maybe 8 tracks, including Swiss Alps (for sure) Grand Canyon (For Sure) Tsukuba Wet, Costa Di Amalfi, Ice Arena, Special Stage R5 OR Clubman and a coupe more depending on what you guys want to race. I will be getting into greater detail once I am finished with the muscle car series and I"ll make an official sign up thread etc...

No rally at the Ring!! >:-P

Besides car selection, what kind of timing format would be used? I'd be less intersted if it just turned into a fastest lap competition, would be be using a real rally format?

As in, would it either be, best single laps at Canyon forward and reverse combined? Or, best total of three laps forward and three laps reverse and you only get one shot at it?

I'm cack at rallying, but if there's a timing system like Redline outlined, i could be interested in this; true rally format 👍

I'd much prefer a seat of the pants one crack at it format. That is how real rally is. Sure you get testing and practice, but you have to do that on your own time. You can't actually practice the event stages at speed, you have to take what you know, make your best guess and go with it.

Unlike circuit racing which, if your budget was there (*cough*Ferrari*cough*), you'd have basically unlimited testing.

So ur thinking maybe do a race for 2 or 3 days to allow for testing and then use the 'honor system' to give everyone one shot at it. Although I was thinking of running it in arcade mode and adjusting the hp and weight accordingly. But if we could iron out the details to on the spot, true rally racing that would tickle my fancy for sure! Any ideas? Anyone? Bueller?

The idea of a "rally weekend" sounds decent to me. How would we format it though? Restrict practice to a day or to a certain amount of time/laps? Then the rally to be run on the one shot deal basis?

Cracker's Trans-Am series sort of works like that, you can practice as much as you want but you have only one shot to run the race and submit race time.

As car as classess go, I think that'll be a little easier to figure out. We could use the old SCCA Pro rules which where pretty simple and straight forward as a guide.

well, hello jump_ace. long time, no speak. i trust you got my PMs. so, how's this series coming along? just to let you know, i've been busy recruting teams and drivers for the V8 series, and we're up to 22 drivers already. i only launched the series on Saturday, but then again, i have my way with words. apparently i'm rather....persuasive.

hmm, doesn't look like much is going on here. if you want a good example of how a series SHOULD be run, take a look at mine. oh dear, looks like you're having a hard time with yours. Ah well, can't be helped!

ciao!!!

Um as I stated earlier, most of the testing will be started late next month, as this is just the information page anyway, no serious recruiting needed. If anyone wants to join in they can. I mainly want people's feedback like redline fox to gather up how I want the series to go. Thx for checkin in nitro. GL with your series.

Some class suggestions

Open classes.

Open: AWD, with a max displacement of 5.1 liters

Group 5: This would be the 2wd unlimited class basically. Anything goes as long as it is 2WD.

Group 2. 2wd cars with displacement under 2.0 liters (or 2.2lit?) Retrictions include no turbos or superchargers, other then that anything goes.

Production Classess

Production GT: AWD, max displacement of 2.6, turbos and supercharged cars must run PGT regardless of drive-train. Cars must maintain factory brakes, suspension and engine mods are limited to ECU reflash and exhaust.

Production: 2WD cars, max displacement of 2.4 liters. N/A only allowed. Cars must maintain factory brakes, suspension and engine mods are limited to ECU reflash and exhaust.

Group N: A heavily restricted FIA class that allows few modifications, mods allowed must be approved for homologation.

I think I got the old SCCA class rules about accurate? (Basically, I said them yeah!) Though, I am having to pull this info out of my ass from the last time I checked since SCCA does not support rally anymore. The NASA and Rally-America rules are just a bit to complicated to start from I think. We should tailor to our own needs anyway. Group N for example would probably not be very practical for us.

Yeah, the N Group may not work out in this game very well. Although I would like to keep this series closer grouped to our favorite rally cars, rather than racing a Viper at the Alps. But I was thinking of doing a 2WD and 4WD group, and maybe a classic group. But mainly sticking with what would be your production group is my thought. I was thinking of making a rough draft list of cars for each section and I'd like everyone to add to the list (if applicable) incase I missed some cars. But this is good progress so far, I'm pleased to say the least! 👍

Grouping the pure rally cars should'nt be to much trouble. We can just run them in their classes.

WRC/Group A (The 97 Evo rallycar is a Group A machine, not sure what else is.)
Group B
Historic (Or pre-Group B era)

Then we could run and only suggestions of course
2WD Mod (An unlimited 2WD class)
Production 2wd (Production based 2wd with tight rules)
Production 4wd (for stuff like stock Evo's and Imprezas)

I think we should also seperate when we run classess. Like run three for a season then run the other three later.

Unless, we can get a huge field of drivers like real rallys have. All of the classess get scored overall and among their respective class. That would be pretty damn sweet, but might be difficult to pull off and require the kind of organization that the WRS has.

And I don't think we want it to get to out of hand competative so people are trying to win before they are just having fun.

Hi Jerome,

I might be interested in this too sounds interesting, not too clever on the rally stages but would have a go!

Running the NRS now so would have limited time but definatly up for the challenge..

Oh and by the way the way you dealt with Nitro in post 15....true class.

(Nitro the end of post 14 was completely uncalled for).

regards

Dave

Ok, for the moment instead of me throwing a huge list of cars together which I don't have the patience for hehe. I'll use examples, I think most of us are already clear about what is a WRC car and Group B, but Group A and historic might cause some confusion.

WRC
All of the Subaru Impreza Rally Cars are WRC, including the '99
The Pug 206, Mitsu Evo VI rally car, Toyota Corolla Rally Car,

Group A (which will have to be bumped into WRC)
In real life, the Group A Evos still could win events even after the FIA introduced the WRC rules. So I am not sure when Mitsu switched to their WRC Evos. Though the Evo IV rally car and Ford Escort are Group A for sure. The Celica GT-Four is a Group A car as well.

Regadless, of all that, I think that WRC and Group A should just be combined.

Historic: Hmm, The Bluebird and Lancer rally cars are a given. Maybe we can also include the Honda 500 if anyone wants to try wheeling something different.

So, hmm, I should organize my thoughts better.

Maybe we can let people submit a car they'd like to run for a particular class like a true tech scrutineering, then we can approve or move it to the class it belongs? That would save us a lot of trouble with making up a list of cars.

Going through the cars, I think letting people submit their choice for a particular class would be much easier. For people who are not sure or don't care, we can assign cars. That is just my opinion. I'd be willing to do the "tech inspection".

I am also trying to figure out a way to allow LM or Tuner cars into certain classes, which I think would provide some nice variety.

ok, ok, jump_ace, i'm sorry if i offended you. i didn't mean what i said, so i'd just like to apologise. friends?

@Nitro: Hey no sweat man, I wish u luck in your V8 Supercar series, if I had time to race I'd choose the Falcon. Later!

@Redline: Now that is a good idea, letting people submit what car they would like to use for a division and we just say 👍 or 👎 . Excellent! That would A) save me a lot of time making a long list (tho I'll still cite examples of each division to help clarify) and B) still give everyone a chance to race a car they may not have been able to do thus far at GTP. Great idea Fox!

thanks man, glad we can still be friends. hey maybe, if and when you have time, you could sign up in the future. if not, then "hey", there's always next season!!! good luck with the WRC too!!!

Hey thx mate, thats the right kind of attitude that will get you somewhere around here ;). GL in the V8's!
