Steward's Comments:
Credit to Sjaak for the idea this week. We've had several people test these cars, and the lap times are surprisingly close. Drive both, pick the one you prefer, and have fun!

Viewing your T1 & T2 Lap Time Splits:

  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay'

  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replay Theater' option.
  • While Viewing Your Replay, Choose the "Live Timing Monitor" To View Your Sector Times
  • To post your T1 and T2 Splits, simply post the sector times that are shown in the live timing monitor.
  • The WRS Fetchbot has been updated and will now add your splits together!

Standard Clean OLR Rules:

  • At least two tires in contact with track at all times.
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.

  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules
  • Save your best lap/ghost replay

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 72 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Please submit your time in the following format on a single line:
    Time: X'XX.XXX
    (Example-) Time: 1'10.100
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the body: "get entry"
  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the body of "remove entry".

  • Please include in your submission PM your final lap time

Why Use GMT?:

GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Time verification:

Save your ghost replay and keep it at least a full two weeks after the event's deadline:

  • Racers, named by the OLR Admin staff, (if any) will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • Any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • When a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide the correct replay within seven days of the request
  • Failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from the results table
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Ahh.. the SLS is so beautiful. Unfortunately I think I might be all time-trialed out for a few weeks. It is so tempting though...

Nice combo Kevin.

Great stuff, Kevin 👍

Looks like you overlooked to specify power and weight for the Lambo, as the vehicle specifics for the Mercedes are mentioned twice.

Fixed. According the the GT5 matrix, since I'm not near my PS3 at the moment.

EDIT: And credit to Sjaak, might be as fun as the Blue Streak Ferrari week! :)

I will give it a run. Sounds fun.

I started with the 🤬 until I got a feel for the track and started to feel like I was "flying" then drove the 🤬 until I could beat the 🤬 and I think thats how I plan on doing this one for awhile yet beat car A with car B and then beat car B with car A...I might not ever actually pick one just keep doing this because its a blast man!

Both cars Im using a 4/5 bb but now want to try a 3/5 BB and race them head to head.

14.739
45.251

First clean lap I ever did in one of the cars. haha Man it took forever to beat the other cars lap...beat it by 6 tenths tho. bb 2/6. Gonna switch cars again.

14.750
44.621

I think for me this one car is potentially way quicker being a DS3 driver...only took a handful of laps to beat the other car and I beat it by 1 second. bb 3/5

I dont think Im going to try again with the other car today. Its way harder to drive quick and clean by a huge margin.

Ahh, seems like a sweet combo to play in D1 for the first time, great track and one of my favourite cars in there..

5 laps with each:
T1: 14.671
T2: 43.799

Needed to take a break from GT academy.

I will definitely be running this and I know which car I'll be in.:) I never used to like Tokyo but the event in the Corvette was some of the most fun I've had on a track so this should be fun.

Great car and track combo. 👍 The left hander before the hill is probably my favourite corner in the game.

Never used to like the track but once you can lap consistently without hitting the wall it's amazing. I will probably ruin a lot of laps in the last sector though.

14.735
44.243

A lot more to come. Love this and will only be using one of these beasts! Great idea - more two steps definitely welcome here!

This track needs an extra sector adding :)

Aiming for a 58.5 T2 split, which take a bit of effort.

Very nice cars on this track, so nice handling both of them and a lot of power too 👍

First 20 laps:
14.661
45.671

Ouch! I'm already far too familiar with the barriers. Very tricky on the brakes with both cars but I have a good feeling this week. :sly: A good hour-and-a-bit:

14.628
43.968

My T3 was probably rubbish but I have a bit of free time this week put aside for WRS. I did a 14.609 T1 which is my best from today and I think I can squeeze maybe another couple of tenths in T2. Fun cars but I've already made my choice which one I'm using.

T1: 14.561
T2: 43.860

Not improving for 10 hours on GT academy has made me crazy, at least I can still improve this easily.

I'm picking the car that is owned by Germans. ;)

T1: 14.884
T2: 45.850

Just a few laps in each car to see which one I like. They really are both very fun.

Edit: Tightened the nut behind the wheel a bit. Splits don't show it but I was almost a full second faster on this lap

T1: 14.862
T2: 45.813

Welcome back to the fray Jack.

I had a run earlier that was slighter better, but had a tire up against the square curbing. Don't know if that's legal or not, so threw it out.

Where is the square curbing you speak of?

Sounds like something we would DQ for, so a good call. But want to clarify.

Great concept Sjaak, EDK, and the other admins. A really addicting and fun combo!

Tried both cars, chose and stuck with the one I'm more comfortable with (HINT: It's European :sly:), and just kept pounding out laps for 2 hours.

1st try. Interesting concept! I have only been behind the wheel of one car so far.

Welcome back to the fray Jack.

Thank you ConRollins. I did the GTA for a few days but...I couldnt get fired up about it.

This Tokyo one is so cool. I never TTed here and man this track has a feel of alot of speed behind you when your on what I call "a run" doing better than youve ever done and your ghost is way behind you in the rearview.:)

Gives me quite a TT high. haha

Edit: Wow Gooners just looked at the leaderboard, some great splits my man.👍

Just to make sure I'm getting this right... the car has to be completely stock? What is/is not allowed?

Based on my reading of the OP, I assume the car must be stock.

Thanks Jack 👍. There's so much grip that you can really push the car.

Yes, the combo is done in arcade mode. The car you choose should be from the arcade car garage (which you cannot tune anyways). Just slap on some Sports Soft tires and you're good to go.
