  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Congratulations to everyone who submitted, and especially division winners and those who ended up on the podium. Really insane times from the aliens!

I must say I'm very happy with my handicap again this week (great handicap finishes by Shawn and Frank also 👍).

This is quite a streak for me, and I have Mohit to thank for it! He gave me a little talk about 6 weeks ago, which could be summed up as: "stop being a wuss and go for it!" But I must also thank everyone posting very helpful comments and suggestions week after week

Hopefully I can keep it up and bring my handicap back in D3 territory soon!

Congrats to winners and podium finishers.

I get the handicapped win this week. :D

I'm pretty sure if I keep this momentum I have going I'll be up to D2 in no time at all.

A crazy couple of weeks. That was a LOT of time trialing. Congrats on your excellent time Wes and for finishing a very quality 25th in the world... Which is really quite impressive when you think of all the people that came out of the "woodworks" and from other sims to compete. We really got a lot of the fastest sim racers in the world to appear for this. Nothing even close to a normal seasonal ranked event.

I am stoked to have the second fastest time in America. I am greatly looking forward to the nationals.

With all that said, I still have a bit of sour grapes for how division 1 handicap has been treated in the last couple events I have participated in. Wes wins the whole event, 25th in the world and gets a worse handicap. Similar to the Tsukuba event.. We all know how fast Twissy is. Maybe one of the fastest in the world. He enters with what he even called a "lucky lap," and his handicap is worsened.

Tsukuba is probably my best track in the game, and I entered what I thought was a pretty decent lap. I spent a lot of time that week. Finished within one tenth of Twissy.. but he is given a negative handicap, and I finish below div 1 silver for the first time in a while.

Our handicap system, I thought, was based on our abilities to run a lap with fairly similar amount of time put in, from week to week. Sometimes we put in more time and finish higher.. Sometimes less, and finish lower.. Sometimes we just have good and bad weeks too. This GTA event, I would fair to guess, a lot of people put a lot more time in, and did a comparatively much faster time than normal. One could say divisionally higher.

So sorry for the sour grapes. I really do appreciate what the Admins here do for the WRS. This is not meant to be a bash on the events or the Admins in any way. I am just wondering if something is possibly not being calculated properly, or I just am not understanding the handicap system one bit.

I really thought this event was going to be one where almost everyone improved their handicap. After this many hours at the wheel I would venture to say, each and every one of us, is quite a bit faster than before the event.

Agreed 100%. Chasing you D1 guys around and using the Tidgney vid I can honestly say I've learned (and improved) more than I would have thought possible in the last few days.
I didn't quite get all the time I wanted to, but I am more than happy about how I finished.

Edit: I forgot to mention that all non-GTP_ tags will be removed from the 3D3 Friends lists as all official events (excluding this one of course) require GTP_ tags to enter.

I have to say that I'm also surprised by the handicap output.

Vaxen is away on vacation for a couple of weeks, so we'll have to wait until he returns to dig into it.

At a minimum, I will suggest that the weight is reduced for this event.

But I have to say that something looks a little fishy, when the best handicap here is a 1.3.

That said, maybe the system is reasonably good at predicting the best possible time, as that par time for a 1.00 handicap is pretty much in lockstep with the best performances in the world. Ramon had his .745, and there's one better than him, with a .682.

I put quite a bit of time into this, more than a normal WRS week, and most people would probably say the same, I suspect. Yet I performed below my normal handicap level.

For the Podium Videos we would like to request that the following drivers post their replay:
GTP_RackAttack

I'm not going to be home with internet until next Tuesday (7/3) at the earliest, if you need my replay quicker you can probably still get it from the leader board in-game. Otherwise I'll upload it as soon as I can.

Thank you for the response EDK and Hydro. 👍

Kevin, you bring up that .682 time. That time is absolutely out of this world. I have heard "legend" of Ti-Tech and how he is the fastest sim racer in the world. To be over a half-tenth clear of the next best time is supernatural.

But the craziness of that time aside.. This really is a technical track with long straights to really punish a less than perfect corner. I am really impressed with the times that us WRS members have achieved this week.

I scored a 31'8xx in the first week and thought that was a phenomenal time. A couple past GT Academy finalists on my friend's list managed to get faster .8xxs than me. Frustrated and determined, I put in some crazy hours.. which prompted a '31.550. At which point one of the previous finalists said in the forums... basically, congratulations. He said he was 99.99% sure that that time was good enough to get me to the national finals.

Amazing how many hours of driving later.. and so much unthought of time was found by all of us. It truly is impressive how deep our WRS list goes into the '31s. I definitely would have never thought, after the first few days, that so many of us could achieve the times that we did.

A giant 👍 to everyone and your times this week. Really awesome stuff!

---------

And, for me, a special congrats goes out to RackAttack for achieving the #1 time in the United States.👍 Also, big props go to our own A7XMaverick for leading the US for almost the entire time trial from start to finish. 👍

I'll have my replay up tomorrow. The podiums video has to be done. 👍

As for handicaps, I think mine has been dropping a good amount recently due to me finally getting my pedals fixed good and being able to put in solid laps week after week now that I'm not having troubles with the wheel in terms of learning how to use it or faltering components. As for the overheating issue, I'm just going to tie that into it being summer and living in a humid climate. Lowering the FFB on the wheel has been my best way of preventing that from happening. It just struck me oddly that it occurred fairly recently since I switched from 30% FFB on the wheel and 10 in game to 40% on wheel and 5 in game, which is a lower FFB overall.

That's possibly the best answer ever to that request :D
I'll see if I can snag it next time I sign in 👍

Congratulations to everyone! Well done guys! 👍
Like I said before, I don't have enought time to play GT5. Hope in 2 years, when I finished my studies (Mechanical Engineering), have more time to compete with you guys. :indiff:
I hope my country take part in GTA soon. :grumpy:
I think I will post my replay tomorrow.
Once again, congratulations guys! 👍

I want to say that I wish I could have done better but it is what it was. I also want to say that I couldn't be prouder of this program and the class of competitors that compete here weekly and from time to time. Just to be around this is so cool for me considering how I look at this whole video game deal and what it is.

I'm just biting at the bit to drive for real again and hope that my time here will pay off by giving me the challenges to dissect how I look at driving a car. GT5 forces me to deal w/ the perfection you have to have to drive fast and our GTA finalist should be so proud of what they have just done and the chance at true greatness they have given themselves.

I can’t wait to see our WRS members on TV representing our country and showing the world how it’s done. Jordan should be so proud of what a great community this is and what his efforts have done to give us all a great place to practice and dream.

Giveum hell and stay focused, you guys earned it. Letum feel the strength you bring to the game and show them your metal. Good Luck 👍

Congratulations everyone for some great times. I did the original GT5 qualifier but this was my first time entering a wrs event. I haven't been playing GT5 too much lately so I'm quite happy with my time. Now I have to figure out what all the results mean :) I'll try to get my replay up tomorrow.

Impressive times. Regarding the handicaps, I didn't run much but I doubt that I would have been able to set even something approaching a D1 time with an all out effort.

Congratulations on all winners and podium finishers, amazing times !!! I am happy with my Division win, but not quit happy for my results in GTA, arround 125 th in my region, I knew there was more to be found on that track...on the other hand has this GTA tt, learned me a lot, wich will help me improve my skills for sure...

Good luck to all people who go to the next round, show the world what WRS is all about ;)

Thanks again Rees and congratulations on your impressive 2nd place in the USA.

I think the handicap system is completely fine this week. I put in more time than I normally put in a WRS week for sure, but this wasn't really my kind of combo and we all had to learn a new track. My best sectors combined would have given me a 30.7 high, so I left out a good 2 tenths on the track.
I can't say I'm unhappy with my time but I know why I needed a 30.8 to get a D1 gold handicap.

Of course I'm really happy with my win (although I didn't deserve it) and I'm happy this time trial is over. On to week 72.:)

My replay:

Congrats to all that had fun with this.

I mainly entered to see how the analysis would turn out. Great work on that wrs team! Thanks.

My time is classified Div 3 Bronze, a full class behind my real division. I did put in quite some effort, but admit I had very little driving in 2012.
Handicapped 37--1'30.952---(0.59268)---GTP_Vince_Fiero, that means there was some .270 better in there to reach TiTech85 consistency with my handicap.

My conclusion out of this, my handicap seems quite spot on, a .270 off pace, but near to my driving ability. The other drivers (determining the Div classification) probably put a lot more effort in this then they would normally and overachieved; seem coherent.

So my excuse: seems the others overachieved (congrats on that) in stead of me underachieving.

Edit:
...but not quit happy for my results in GTA, arround 125 th in my region, ...

I came in 151 in the same BeLux region, 2 years ago I was 107th (last year no BeLux, I did not bother). It seems to me competition was serious. It is also a good reality check.
1) there are over a 100 people faster in your region. So it is.
2) you are on 1000000+ participants in the top 0.5% of the world. Keep this with you.

:) meaning I have beaten you this year, a D2 driver !! But you are right I have spend at least 48 hours on this track, did a few hundred laps. But when i looked at my best sector times, I saw I left almost 0.6 sec....Just could not nail them togheter...
I have no problems either with the fact of knowing there are a hundred people in my region who are faster. Being 44 years old, would excluded me from the region finals anyway.
In my opinion the most fun of this GTA TT, was the fact you were able to see what your friends where doing, the fact we had to compete on a new track, and the fact I learned a lot of this TT.....

Congratulations to all winners....

Was in the wrong opinion, that all times are got from the 3D3 Friendlist and therefore not have to be submitted to the bot :(
Reading helps ;)

Just ducking in to check the results - well done everyone.

A comment on the HC results - if one person put in a super-human effort in a normal week, then that would likely be reflected in an outstanding HC result. However, if EVERYONE put in a superhuman effort, then the relative balance between the drivers stays the same (the bar just gets adjusted upwards).

Hope that makes sense

Well, I found this GTA statistics from my savedata:

Gold Trophy: 40
Total Mileage: 1503.9 Km
Total Retries: 432

I thought I was tried less times  That's a lot of tries!
Would be good you guys encouraged to share yours GTA statistics.
Here's my replay. You can see how bad are my DFGT Pedals :grumpy:

Hope you guys understand my english. It's so bad!

I'll have a look but I know I had put in about 2,100 kms. My retries was higher though - a lot higher due to the fact that I loaded Twissey's ghost and tried only the first sector for about 90+ minutes straight :D
Plus in the final hour I may have actually finished only about 4 laps. Typical deadline stuff ;)

Edit: If drivers post their stats I'll add them to the green flagged results for an interesting comparison. To check your stats just highlight the GT Academy game save in the XMB and it will give you the details.
Please post the details in this format: Total Mileage: xxxx.x Km Total Retries: xxx. I'll do the conversions for km/miles.

Certainly was fun, attaching replay.

Gold Medals: 40
Total Mileage: 553.1 Miles
Total Retries: 552

I found this funny too, a backup file. It looked like it saved right before my last session.

Miles: 450.4
Retries: 40

Either something messed up or I retried a lot more than I remember in that last 4 hours.

The backup saves all list retries as 40. Don't know why, but they do.
I'll update the numbers you guys have submitted 👍 - and add mine.

40 Gold
Total Mileage: 2,257.8 KMs
Retries: 1001

Attached is my replay.

Checked my save data:
40 gold
miles: 999.8 = 1609.0 Km
retries: 1225

Lots of restarts? Or did you try the early events a lot?
Just curious as to how I have 224 less attempts, but drove 200 kms more.

I do not know lol. I would have to assume that about 1200 of those were from 8-5 haha. Didn't really retry the others. Other than that I do not know how it is that high.

 I think I retried the (non 8-5) events about 5 times on average, unless it was 'fun'. I think I found 4-5 events to be 'fun' :D
And my last lap finished with 7 seconds to go on the countdown clock. Got booted after the first corner when the event closed.

Here is my replay. See if this works.
