Steward's Comments:
This model is renowned in America for being a rental car upgrade model. The gearbox sucks in this car, but on the Madrid course, it really doesn't matter, since the shifts from 3rd to 4th happen after the main brake and acceleration zone.

The inspiration for this event was last week's Parity Event. Have fun out there. 👍

Viewing your T1 & T2 Lap Time Splits:

  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay'.

  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replay Theater' option.
  • While Viewing Your Replay, Choose the "Live Timing Monitor" To View Your Sector Times
  • To post your T1 and T2 Splits, simply post the sector times that are shown in the live timing monitor.
  • The WRS Fetchbot has been updated and will now add your splits together

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 110 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Please submit your time in the following format on a single line:
    Time: X'XX.XXX
    (Example-) Time: 1'10.100
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the body: "get entry"

Why Use GMT?:
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Time verification:

Save your ghost replay and keep it at least a full two weeks after the event's deadline:

  • Racers, named by the OLR Admin staff, (if any) will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • Any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • When a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide the correct replay within seven days of the request
  • Failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from the results table
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Good luck, :gtplanet:

Funnily enough this is the car I rented when I went to L.A, the gearbox is is just as bad on this game!

Well, I've never driven a boat but I imagine it would feel a bit more sporty than this car

Reminds me of a Mk III Transit I used to have except that was diesel. :P

First run just to dust off the rust.... Early days but showing that the fundamental pace is still around... somewhere

I think the board is almost useless this week, as much if not more time to be gained/lost in the last sector then the first two combined. Its not uncommon to see many push themselves to what is a known limit (other posted times) however those who are best at exploring the limit themselves will be the ones who most benifit from this week I feel.

Also, I find the handling of this car on C3's to be very nice indeed. Understeer if pushed too hard on entry and oversteer if you are too throttle happy but all in all the car is quite well balanced I think?

Hey Dion, nice to see you around mate. 👍 I agree with you on the car its just that it feels somewhat lazy in the handling department compared to other cars I've run recently. Quite fun when you get used to its quirks though and Madrid is always a good challenge to push it to the Armco. :sly:

First serious effort:

And "hello Div 2, see you Div 3" :)

@Small_Fryz: Please edit your post, 24' is definitely not possible in split 2, i'm 10 secs off lol.

I took care of it. Someone needs to lay off the Bacardi. ;)

Sheesh, what a beast of burden.....

I can't tell if I am getting better or worse since switching to wheel. Oh well, keep on plugging away.

You'll feel slow and may even be slower right after changing over, even for a few weeks like I was. Just stick with it and once you are used to the feel of it and how you need to approach your input you'll pick up pace quickly. 👍 If I didn't need to use a controller for Forza I wouldn't even remember how to use one anymore.

For me it only took an hour or so to improve after I got a wheel, but that's probably because my thumbs weren't at all co-ordinated

Some advice would be just to try throwing the car around, turn into corners abruptly and see if it sticks, get used to correcting it by using counter steering, explore the limits, nothing is lost if you throw it off track as it's only a game. I find that when I am comfortable and relaxed and not driving tentatively that I am much faster, so just relax, keep practicing and enjoy! 👍

Certainly yes. Because i confess i'll certainly need a month or more to be used to a wheel :ill:

Actually, the car I was driving when I was adjusting was a kart on a track I know better than the back of my hand

Although maybe it helps to practice with something you are familiar to, also I would recommend practicing in the kart round (autumn ring mini) because it is a great hands on introduction to wheel use, and you feel much more plugged in (especially using cockpit view), so maybe that is the best way to get used to using a wheel :)

I also recommend sticking with the wheel and not switching back to the controller at all until you have mastered the wheel.

Switching back and forth will only make things harder. From memory it took me about 2 weeks to be upto pace with the wheel and I have never looked back since.

Can anyone point me to a hotlap video of this circuit so I can get an idea of the best line around this track? This is one of my worst tracks, mainly because I haven't driven it much. When I did, I just could never figure out the best way around this circuit. Any video help would be appreciated. I looked myself, but couldn't seem to find anything of value. Thanks.

Oh boy. This is not going well at all :grumpy:

Any tips for a rookie??? pleeease :dopey:

Don't jump on the gas, as the wheels will just spin up, you need to feel for the grip on corner exits and then steadily feed the power on especially out of the tight hairpin and and tighter corners throughout the track.

Thanks I'll try it.
