Steward's Comments:

Nice job everyone!

Cheers,

OLR Team.

Important notices:
To streamline the WRS administration process, all required replays for this race must be submitted within 7 days. This thread will be listed as "Provisional" and will become "Official" once all posted replays have been verified. After 7 days, all drivers who fail to provide a requested replay will have their lap disqualified. (Beware: disqualification isn't taken lightly within the WRS.)
Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

Replay Verification Requests:
This week we would like to see replays for all indicated results. All replays are to be posted here.

Instructions on how to upload your replay can be found here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

shows that the replay has been posted and verified.
rflagnv1.gif
shows that the submitted lap turned out to be dirty or doubtful.
bflagtp3.gif
shows that the replay has not been provided in due time.

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

 Look at that handicap! And I left at least 0.3s on the track... I'm pretty darn happy! :dopey: I guess my bus stop must have been not too boyish after all... maybe late teenage-ish?

Congratulations to everyone who submitted, really, this wasn't an easy one. But Kevin, how could you let Lucas beat you?? (Just couldn't help myself, I actually have no idea what the score is between you two...)

It was a great combo, frustrating at times, but rewarding in the end. I spent too much time on the grass to be tempted to participate in the online event though... Thanks to everyone who contributed tips, videos, etc., you really make a difference! 👍 Oh, and Vaxen too, who doesn't get mentioned enough!

My NTSC replay.

And so you should be, good effort mate 👍 Wins aswell, another strong finish!

Congrats Matt on the victory 👍 A sub 1'40 was my target, I didn't quite get there though! Well done again Chris for another strong podium finish!

One other thing... American Car, American Track... 3 Brits on the podium! *starts singing God Save the Queen*

Here's my PAL replay:

What a great combo this was! Very addicting! Was on pace for around a 40.2xx but went in to hot at the bus stop and slid off into the grass. My goal this week was to get in the 500's and I got exactly a 500 1 time. Everything else was. 6 and this lap. Glad to see I made a div 1 time again too! Not bad for div3 huh ;) Some great times across all divisions. Congratulations to everyone on a great week. Thanks to Chris and Lucas for their videos, and Matthew for the overall!! Replay will be up Wednesday.

Well, looks like the slow splits and fast bus-stop served me well again. Nice time Matthew knew sub 40s were possible, closest I got was a red-lapped 40.1. 👍

Nice going again Wins, you really shouldn't be in D3 though. 'Grats to everyone else as well.

And my largest negative handicap to date. :D

I know I shouldn't. I'm hoping to get promoted this week. When I did my qualifier, I used a wheel. Tried it for awhile, then had to sell it and my cockpit. I hadn't raced with a controller for over 3 years up until about 4 weeks ago. Guess the cobwebs are starting to come off. If I would have known I was gonna fo this much better with the ds3, I would have never bought that wheel :D

Great bus stop btw. Looks like you really jammed it in there! Its amazing the time you gain when you're in the throw away lap mindset

Wow... I almost can't believe that I won. Thanks everyone :gtpflag:

I was expecting it to be closer than that, I had lost 0.25 in the bus stop and Chris was really happy with his final bus stop, plus there were another three who could have won with a perfect bus stop.

The trick in T2 is to fully utilise the banked part of the outside of turn 5. Taking the instinctive line means you aren't getting the most out of the corner.

Well, looks like the slow splits and fast bus-stop served me well again.

Holy smokes, is that time for real? That would mean your T4+T5 is 0.246 faster than anybody else.

Here's my replay. I'll see if I can record my lap somehow so I can post it to YouTube (I can't afford an HD PVR :().

I notice that in the original event threads it shows the events as A spec practice mode & then in the unofficial results threads it shows as arcade mode. I assume these are typos?

Replay to follow this evening.

Great job Matt. You had the dedication to put the time in this week... a very well deserved win. 👍 My problem with Daytona Road generally is I start out full of enthusiasm and then just run out of patience too quickly with having to spin round to get a run at the first lap (or bin lap 1 and start at lap 2) and, as with most of us, I cannot stomach binning a great lap at the bus-stop too many times. Patience and dedication are key.

I'm not going to use my wheel as an excuse but the G25 doesn't have the precision any more so I'm not as smooth with it as I'd like to be - that said, it made the lap feel more exciting and I was pleased with it, despite losing .35 off my best times. Happy with another 2nd place anyway (I have 21 of them now :P) and Matt deserved the win this week without doubt. I'll do a video of your replay later on if you like Matt.

For now, here's what 2nd place looked like:

Congrats Matthew, you certainly showed us how its done this week.

I'm just glad I didn't lose any positions in the final two sectors, that's always been my weakest part of the track. Now I just need to remember how to post a replay.

Congratulations to the winners and podiums.
A nearly 0 handicap, but was a nice combo.

Oh good, I win slowest T4+T5 in the top 12. :P And Ford showed that if I'd done those sectors like him, I would have been dicing with Matt & Chris.

Congrats Matt on your first win, very nice drive. 👍 Well-done Chris on the close 2nd, and thanks for your tips and vids throughout the week.

Tim, nice win in D2 and 3rd overall, your laptime would have been a magic lap for me for sure, and you said you left time out there.

Thanks Brandon for showing us how its done with a DS3, and podium'ing in your true division (D2). :sly:

Well done throughout the board, and congrats to the other winners and podiums as well. :gtpflag:

Super combo, Kev! :D

Yes, it's hard-coded to say "Arcade Mode" for every Results thread, just a minor annoyance that we haven't gotten around to fixing.

My NTSC replay, suffix 040. Close only on the right rumble entering the bus stop, but it shouldn't take longer than ~5min to get it paused at the two important splits that matter.

Congrats to Matthew for the overall and to all of the other winners and podiums. Special mention, as always, to the over-performers. Well done by Tim with the D1/overall podium pace, Brandon for the D2 podium pace, and Daniel for the D2 pace. 👍

I was waiting for Lucas to post this before making my reply, as I was curious where I shook out in the Bus Stop. Looks like it netted me 3 places, and I was 2nd fastest among the D2 guys, while tied with Brandon. Too bad I could not tie it to a better first sector.

I will say that I'm happy to have improved on my Handicap for the first time in many events. It's really just about the time I spend. I was able to get 3 short sessions and one long session in for this combo. Probably ~4 hours spent in total. Most of my other recent submissions have probably been 2 sessions and 2-3 hours of work. The extra sessions make a pretty big difference.

I just watched Chris' video, and my strategy with this car was not the same as his, which likely slowed me down some. I did notice at times that I would enter a corner hot and get some oppo lock action, and would come out the other side faster. But I was going for consistent and replicable, and with a car with power to grip like this one, sliding it about does not suit my style.

I will say that I believe I'll be quite competitive online, as my lines are clean and my splits are consistent. And my style is better for the tires. ;)

Will see you guys on Wednesday night. :mischievous:

Cheers all, I'm happy with my result, was closer than I was expecting! On a downside, my PC isn't letting me download any replays right now, I turned off Windows Defender but it still says that they contain a virus and get deleted automatically... So unfortunately I can't help out with replay checking until I manage to solve this issue.

Holy smokes, is that time for real? That would mean your T4+T5 is 0.246 faster than anybody else.

It's fo' realz. 👍

My bus-stop split was 15.264, S5 was a 19.751.

Thanks for the kind words about that sector by the way guys, I've always been good there.

Kind of disappointed I couldn't string it together with a 27.8, 23.6, 13.4 as that would have put me right up the top there. But I'll take fastest bus-stop nevertheless. :D

Congrats Matthew! Congrats to all podium winners as well! I must say that I did put a lot of enjoyable hours into this combo and had my best lap the first day. Kind of frustrating chasing my ghost all week but I am happy with my D3 podium. I am very confused that after all that driving I end up with a + .704 handicap??? I hope its a reflection on others alien-ish times and not my driving.

I will get my replay up later today.

Al

Congrats on the great win Matthew! It's good to see *a* Matt winning, even if it ain't me

Some great times in there thru the divisions.

A couple over par for me I think this week, bit pants :(

Congrats to both of you for making the overall podium

By the way Chris, I'll be able to record my lap tomorrow as I'll be borrowing a DVD player (I have one but it's broken), but thanks for the offer. 👍

Thanks Matt. 👍 Its no trouble if you want your lap recording, honestly mate. I can do it right now...

Both very nice laps. I'm learning a few things watching these replays; of course I need to learn a lot more to shave 7seconds off my lap time!!

Both very nice laps. I'm learning a few things watching these replays; of course I need to learn a lot more to shave 7seconds off my lap time!!

Thanks for checking Grieco. 👍

Umm, I was a little closer through the bus stop than I thought. Coming off the rumbles on the left side, and by the outer wall at the exit are pretty close, but they are clean. Shouldn't be too hard to verify, just closer than I thought.

Nice lap. Maybe a little conservative in a couple corners, but I couldn't get near that time with a controller so who am I to judge.

Clean and correct and easy to check.
