Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Heres a video of my lap:

What i tried to do in all sector, explained in very few words... :)

t1: throttle oversteer on the long right hand and dont go too wide.

t2: keep it very tight around the apexes and accelerate a soon as possible

t3 keep inside on trailbraking before the last corner.

Congrats to Mike for the win, and all the podium drivers. Tim @WRP001 , you are turning into a TT beast. Thanks Chris @Vagabond for the choice this week, the more I ran it the better I liked it. The combo had such variety of ways to attack the course, which made it lots of fun. One of these days Lucas @Gravitron I am going to be ahead of you, I think you got me by 4 hundredths.
 
Congrats Mike on the win and nice handicap 👍, and to all other podium finishers. Gayle, very nice handicap, too 👍

D2 : 11 out of 27 got negative handicaps, seems to be improving a bit for us as a division. Should be even better next week because of the promotions.

What a relief I don't need to compete with you now, life got a little easier now for us D2 guys. ;)

In an effort to keep up with the seconds-per-minute thing I started, here is a Google Docs with weeks 2, 3 and 4. I'll see If I can get week 1 on there sometime this week. WRS Time Trials -Seconds per Minute

This is to Mike @mike_gt3 or other drivers faster than me. I have seen in a number of TTs where you grab a lower gear just for a second, then shift up immediately. Does it help you brake later, get the car pointed in the right direction quicker, or some other reason? I tried it in this TT in the 2 places you did it, but my faster way through was to stay in the higher gear.

Until the aliens answer: Shift to 2nd for rotation... Back to 3rd for more steady torque and forward grip. Also going into the tough uphill left at the start of T2, 2nd allowed me to slow more which meant a little later braking. In third I would often oversteer and miss the apex, but by braking down to 2nd I was more consistent.

Back to par (over par, really) for me :yuck:. S2 really killed me (71st of 76 who submitted both splits and times in that sector, leading to 70th at that line), but as usual, I had a better-than-expected S3 (56th of 76).

Even considering just the Division 4 crew (pre-promotions, that is - the first round of promotions is out), I stunk on ice until S3 (14th of 20 who submitted both splits and times in S1, 16th in S2, 14th at the T2 line, and 9th in S3 for a 13th-place division finish).

Could @GTP_DeathStar have inverted his S1 and S2 reported times by any chance?

I got 9th in my division outa of 25 cars, 62nd outa of 85 cars overall, and 4th in handicap does that mean I had good week. Finshed good in the division for me but I'm still new dont understand the handicap leaderboard part. I'm thinking the higher I am like being 4th better I did this week.

Got caught up and managed to just miss the deadline for uploading my replay! Fully gutted as I would have continued my trend of featuring in the next division up! That is two I have missed now haha

Like Tim @ GTP_WRP001 said its to help getting a rotation on the downshift, and shifting an higher gear help keeping speed and stability , especially with understeerng cars. In 1st corner of t2 it helped slowing down and turn-in slightly better and it worked with the way the track grip at that place, but on the 2nd time i did on the left hand before the hump i was slightly too late on my braking thats why i used 2nd gear quickly, normaly i kept 3rd gear there it was faster, i got lucky to keep enought speed.

its trial and error, normaly keeping higher gear when possible is the way to go it will carry more speed when the gearbox allow it and the car have decent turn-in. In a car with a short turning radius like the lotus elise its better trying to keep a higher gear to increase turning radius in a corner than using a lower gear while high reving, you have more control and and it carry more speed (most of time). While the opposite work as well, more with understeering car where using a lower gear reduce turning radius. Its a little more complicated than that but once you see what the car do you can use some characteritic of the car to your advantage. :)


For the Monza event i used that method in the 1st corner, downshift to 2nd gear shift back to 3rd, if it slide too long(like keeping 2nd gear) it was really hard to control and it will lose grip and all the speed you could gain, you need to use oversteer at your advantage for only brief moment to make it effective.
 
I submitted well before the deadline but fetchy never accepted. No lap for me this week then?
Why have you only mentioned this now, when it may be too late to do anything about it? Copy myself and @Gravitron @EDK @WRP001 @JoostBaksteen into the Fetchbot conversation and we'll take a look at what happened. There may be something we can do but its not likely at this point I'm afraid.
