Steward's Comments:
This is a fun little combo for you all to dive into during the Christmas break and chase some tenths while enjoying your Egg Nog. Only a little tricky, but oh, so addictive. Have fun, and Happy Holidays from the entire OLR Team! :)

Viewing your Time Splits:
  • You need to make sure you save the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below)
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Home' and watch the replay from there using the 'Gallery' option.
  • Live timing monitor does not work properly, so we have to use a small trick to view splits.
  • While viewing your Replay, pause the lap by hitting start, before the end of the first sector.
  • While keeping the replay paused, advance the replay, using the forward arrow on the replay HUD. This will advance the replay to the end of the first sector. That's your T1 split, write it down.
  • Advance the replay again. That will show the lap to date time on the screen, this is your first and second sector time, added together.
  • To post your T1 Splits, simply post the lap to date times that are shown in the middle of the screen. Do not try to calculate the actual T2 split time, the Fetchbot will do that for you.

Standard Clean OLR Rules:
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times.

    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty
  • No hybrids
  • No cheating of any kind, these are relaxed races and we are experienced racers, we know what times can be done, and we can read your mind.We will know.
  • Nothing that goes against the spirit of the rules

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods):

  • Total Lap Time
  • Any information which can be used to infer your total laptime

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

  • The first 2 splits: T1 & T2 times
  • Any settings discussion
full

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 101 Submission ) to (WRSFetchbot):

  • Then attach your 'Best Lap'/'Ghost' replay in zip file form. Everyone submits a replay instead of listing a lap time.
  • You will need to put something in the message body in order to begin a conversation. It doesn't matter what you put, it can even be 1 letter or symbol. Nobody but the Fetchbot is going to see it, so it's sort of pointless, anyhow.
  • You will get an automated response within 15min, letting you know whether your submission was accepted, or if you had an error.
  • If you have an error, don't panic. Just review the instructions for submission and submit again. If you are having trouble and cannot figure it out, please post your question in the race thread.
  • Users can ask the bot for the current submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Get Entry" and any text in the body.
  • Users can delete their submitted time by sending a message with the Subject: "GTP_WRS Week XX Remove Entry" and any text in the body.
  • If you want to submit multiple times in the week that is still not a problem. Just reply to the conversation with your new time and new replay. Fetchy always uses the last submitted time as the final one.
  • See this screenshot as an example on how to submit:

  • The deadline is Monday, December 28th 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Why Use GMT?:

GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.

Replay Checking:
  • Everyone is required to submit a replay for verification. This happens when you submit to the Fetchbot, and the replays will be visible in the leaderboard, once we've reached the event deadline
  • Participants will be expected to check each others' replays for cleanliness, for replays marked in the Results thread as (Check Needed)
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Good luck, :gtpflag:

Nice combo, what a difference the sports hard tyres make, accidently left them stock for several laps before realising and the SH's feel fantastic in comparison.

It's the staggering that does the most to take out understeer.

I assume you noticed and left CS on the rear?

What a lovely combo! Really exciting throwing the car through the second pair of corners. 👍 IIRC the Del Sol had a sound update recently, before that it was more like a buzzsaw. ;)

So I've tried out some different things, brake balance of 1/3, 2/3 and 3/5. And came back to 2/4. It's about what will help the car rotate in the second set of turns, without overdoing it.

Also, know that the VTEC wants the ever living snot rung out of it. I am shifting AT the limiter, which means pulling the paddle at 58 MPH for the 2/3 shift and 86 MPH for the 3/4 shift. That will find you some tenths.

For the second series of turns, I am setting up right, dabbing the brake in 4th, carrying speed into the first apex and then progressively braking to the second apex while shifting down to 3rd. It's awkward, but faster than trying to get all the braking done at once, less crashy than trying to take the first apex with only a lift.

I know the key is carrying enough speed in 3rd to keep the car in the power for the second apex without hitting the wall. I am unsure of what that speed is, not in the habit of looking at the speedo while turning. When I have a chance to make another run, I will let you all know.

A wild ride in the second sector, not sure how I got through those 2 turns. Have seen .1 sector 1s. Sector 2 is about a 1 in 3 chance of me getting thru there will out losing it. BB 4 4. TC 3. Tried BB 1 4, but think as I brake in sector 2 a little less rearward bias helps some, although not much. Nice combo @EDK .

Only have today for this week's TT so I had 1 session for this week which was today. There is still quite a bit of time left here. And every miles per hour counts for this week's TT as its a momentum car for keeping the speed up. There's about .1xx left in T1 and about .2xx left in T2 for me.

Good Luck To everyone who will be racing this combo the rest of the week! As I said I won't have time for another session. Just wanted to get something on the board for this week.

Merry Christmas WRS Racers! Have a happy Holidays with all of your families!

This is a weird one.
Do you mean how the whole lap basically comes down to that second combo of turns?

To a great extent, that's the nature of the track.

Besides that, I was trying for some specific things with the car, and it is a bit weird and quirky. But pretty fun to thrash around, I think this will be really fun online. :)

Once I got a glimpse of my T1, I got nervous and just tried to bring it home in one piece, last sector is pretty lackluster as well. I'm probably better off on the tracks where I'm too busy driving to see my split times being displayed. :nervous:

I think a 20.9x is possible in sector 1, as yesterday on one of my laps I got a 21.03 or .04. I can go faster than my best lap in sectors 1 and 3, but replicating my sector 2 is not easy. I can get through those turns safely if I take it easy, but to go fast through those turns does not happen very often.. I know I have 2 or 3 tenths to get, just a matter of being able to go through sector 2 quickly and more consistently without so many spins.
