Overview (How Does This Work?):
  • You must be part of our registry to participate.
  • These are Time Trial Events, we have Online Races here.
  • Set the game up according to the event, car and track details below.
  • Save Your BEST LAP replay before exiting your session.
  • Be sure and run cleanly to the end of the first sector after setting your fast lap. If you exit right away, your time stamp may not show up in your replay.
  • Report your split times in here, so you can compare your pace to other racers, without revealing the full lap time. (Note: this is required if participating)
  • Our leaderboard shows how you stack up during the week, before the deadline.
  • Submit your lap via PM to our Fetchbot, before the event deadline.
  • On deadline day, we will publish the results in our leaderboard and in a thread in this section.
  • Identified replays will be checked by your fellow participants to be sure you meet the event regulations.

  • The use of the clutch is strictly prohibited.
  • Use of the Handbrake is Prohibited.
  • No Contact with walls or other objects. Any contact with walls, no matter how minor, will result in a DQ.
  • At Least 2 Tires must be in contact with track at all times (See image below).
    • In situations where contact with the track is not possible because tires are airborne (above the ground), then the run is only legal if at least two tires in-line would have made contact with the track if the car were not airborne.
    • If track contact cannot be 100% determined, then consider it dirty.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible.
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty.

Steward's Comments:

It's been a while since our last tuning combo, and the WRX is a much more enjoyable ride with some tweaking. Have fun!

Saving Replays, Viewing sector times and Submissions:
  • You need to make sure you use the 'Save Best Lap Replay' (ghost replay), not the 'Save Replay' (See pic below).
  • Before saving your replay ensure that you continue running after completing your fast lap until at least the end of first sector. This will ensure you have a complete replay.
  • To view your best lap replay, go to 'My Library' and watch the replay from there using the 'Replays' option.
  • While viewing your Replay, enter the live timing screen to view your sector splits. You will need to do this after your car has passed the sector markers to see it listed.
  • Simply post the splits that are shown in the live timing screen, and our Fetchbot will parse them and add them together for your total sector time.
  • When saving your fastest lap replay please ensure that you watch the replay to the end and that it displays your full lap time. Any replays submitted that do not show the posted lap time will result in a DQ.
  • Remember - When you submit your time you're also declaring that your run is 100% clean. We request replays for the purpose of verifying to all those concerned that the drivers claim is correct, which in turn safeguards the integrity of the driver, and just as importantly, the WRS. The golden rule is to check your replay before submission. If you’re still unsure, check it again, ask for a second opinion and if you’re still undecided, run the lap again.

Good luck,
:gtplanet: & The WRS team.

My tune dialed in for Nurb GP.

If the car does something you don't like, let me know and I can give you the changes to fix it. 👍

The ride height is minimum in the rear and 3 clicks up from minimum in the front.

Ok, I'll give this a go.
Just spent the 450,000 Cr for the car, and set it up to your tune (which looks good, especially in the diff dept) and going for a spin in it now.

Just one question.
Is this the promised 'tuning week' or a 'week that is tuned' and we have to stick to your settings (not that they will be anything but great)

First few laps, and the car's good, grippy, well set up, nice job.👍
and good practice for the Lewis Hamilton challenge too.

As the OP states, settings are open except aero, trans, power and weight. Those are all spec, adjust the rest to your heart's delight.

Nice tune @EDK. Is it meant to get sideways through turn after sector 1? Or is that just rotation, and my bad driving style:)
Are you talking about the right hander that is the exit for the first sector and the stadium section? If not, would it be Valvoline or Ford?

The car is set up to be loose enough to turn. We had been fiddling with the Anti Roll Bars, removing some front and adding some rear. Trying to balance them out a bit. At Fuji, the settings for ARB were quite extreme. But with the elevation changes here, something less aggressive is needed.

Let me know the corner you are getting sideways and when that is happening. Is it on turn in, mid corner, or on power at exit. That will help me give you some suggestions to counter it.

This will be an awesome week, cannot recommend this car with these settings highly enough ( it was super snappy default, understeer entry and violent oversteer on exit, like a gr3 version of a yellowbird on CH tyres )

Really looking forward to pushing the WRX round here after a good few miles testing/racing it round Fuji :)

In practice saturday I didn't change LSD and now when I got full setup it's feel better. I'll still going to do some test to make it more for my style of driving/liking how car handels. It's good setup.
Here's my initial splits for testing the combo.

First splits, after the race last week I feel really dialed in and on the pace with this car, some slight issues with setup as I forgot to put in Kevin's Nurburgring adjustments, they should bring a solid couple of tenths I think in the next run.

34.224
24.651

I don’t think I’ll get anything worth posting, too much understeer for me with max rear aero. Will probably have another session or two before completely throwing in the towel though, but it doesn’t even feel like it’s capable of such times I’m struggling so much. :banghead:

Valvoline, Ford and Dunlop.
I would say it's on turn in. Valvoline I am dropping from 5th to 3rd and the rear is stepping out. Controllable but obviously it loses time.
I am in 2nd gear at Ford and Dunlop with similar results.

What brake balance are you running? I have -1 on the car, that should help with that.

The other things I would try -
  • Reduce negative front camber. Do this in small increments, 1-2 clicks at a time. (It's 2.7 in my published setup, and as low as 2.0 could work. It depends on how you like the car balanced for turn in, mid corner, and exit).
  • Reduce Braking LSD number. Again, small increments (It's one click from minimum in my published setup, and this typically tightens the car. If you change it and it makes the problem worse, try a couple clicks the other way. It's just hard to say if the snap is being caused by this being too tight for you).
  • Lower front ARB setting. 1 click at a time. (We were at 10/2 with the Fuji tune, and now at 8/4 here at Nurb. The closer you get to the same front/rear, the less the car is going to rotate when you want it to. Buyer beware).
  • Raise front ride height. Also small increments. (This will tighten the car. Quickly. 3 clicks up from minimum right now, and I certainly would not raise it any more than bringing it back to the same number as the rear. A quick google of inches to MM conversion suggests you have 7 clicks to play with in there, but I would take it 1-2 at a time)
I would work in that order. The first 2 are fine tuning adjustments, the others are going to affect the car more dramatically and may affect it in other ways, in other areas of the track. Better to start small with the changes.

Also, it might be that you are just downshifting too quickly. If the shift affects car behavior, then wait to shift. We get used to using all these tricks to make stock cars without tuning do what we want them to, but using a shift to rotate the car is not really a setup feature. :)

How you release the brake pressure also, especially into Dunlop. I 100% wouldn't try and put more understeer in the car though even if it makes those corners easier, just costs too much round the rest of the lap.

Edit - unless there is some way to help those corners without sacrificing others, I don't know enough about setup to know if that's possible though.

Thanks for the advice guys.
I ran a couple of laps at BB+3 which made things worse so back to BB-1 now.
I think my biggest problem is speed of downshifting. I tend to want to get to the correct gear for exit as fast as possible which in this car and tune, for me, makes the rear step out.
I will work on gear changes before making any other adjustments because it is a good tune.

I realized after running tonight that I had not really tried the car offline. I made a bunch of settings adjustments that have made the car safer, but some of these may move back the other direction as I look for more pace.

Overall, offline, I found the front of the car too darty and tried to dial some of that out while retaining loaded mid corner rotation.

Changes from my first posted tune.

Front ride height to minimum (this actually loosens the car but Phil said he runs with more rake, so I am putting that on and then compensating).

Rear ARB to 2. (Was 4 after having adjusted some things online, but I think I went too far).

Front Camber to 2.0. (0.7 lower) helps immensely with darty turn in for cambered corners.

Rear toe to toe in 30. (Was 25). Helps exit traction in slow corners.

Finally, braking LSD to 12. (Was 6). Tighter braking LSD will cause the car to snap on brake release at times. So I went back looser with this.

Those changes are all directional, the things I think CAN be adjusted to make the tune suit your style. Where YOU end up will vary based on your style and preference. Hope this helps.

Looking forward to trying these out, Its such a different track from Fuji I'm actually impressed with how well the base setup transfered over, but pretty sure the changes will help like all the others have.

I also found a way to speed up, chasing @Philtaylor17 ghost in the DBR time trial.

Yeah the lines are very similar with them both being gr.3 etc, I remember I had a better lap than that by a tenth or so but I didn't blitz the chicane quite as well, I would have matched or beaten Josete's time I think if I had but.... Anyway, glad it helped

Edit - just remember not to follow the ghost outside the white line like I did on that lap with WRS track limits, and in this car I find it faster to use more speed in Valvoline and have a slightly tighter entry into ford than the in the DBR 👍

1 tenth faster with the changes, but so borderline on track limits that I won't submit that lap. Just cannot seem to beat the first lap at all, I think I've had so much mileage in this car now I hit my limit pretty early this week with it. Hard to get much more out of it.
