What is with all the periods?
Marilyn Manson is alright. I've only heard a few of his songs and they aren't anything special. I've heard his live shows are great, though!

Marilyn Manson wouldn't exist if Alice Cooper and Iggy and the Stooges hadn't shown him the way. He also wouldn't exist without Trent Reznor's patronage.
But that's OK. Manson is currently carrying the "play badass guitar and scare the crap out of whitebread America" torch. Somebody's gotta do it, and he's pretty good at it, if not particularly original.

Like so many before him, he literally started out as a joke, and wasn't particularly interesting to listen to. Sometime later, whilst still a joke, he (they) released a complex, startling and flowing piece of work that was quite tongue-in-cheek, and happened to feature a cover of a popular song which had all the potential of becoming a hit single. And it did.
And then people stated taking him seriously. Subsequently, he began to take himself seriously. The end result, as we know it, is pretty insipid. Unfortunately. He was showing some promise at one point.
Great voice, though.

But see, the point is, Marilyn Manson wants you to think he's a freak. 99.79% of everything he does is directly intended to make you think he's a freak.
Michael Jackson, on the other hand, desperately wants everyone to think he's always been like this, and that he's perfectly normal, despite the fact that 99.79% of everything he does is far more truly freak-like than Marilyn Manson.

I don't like him too much, but I don't have a problem with him, other than killing puppies and self gratification. Thats just sick.

Like 'Duke said, he's doing the scare-the-WASP thing. I don't have much of an opinion of him, though I liked his comments in "Bowling for Columbine."

Fro the record, Ozzy did bite the head off a bat at a concert once. He said someone threw it on stage & he thought it was a toy. He was quite hammered at the time. There was also an incident at a CBS Records meeting with a dove. I'll have to re-read the Rolling Stone interview for the details. These both happened before 1985.
As far as Manson with the puppies & the other thing, I'll say the first is probably not true & the second- If he can, good for him.
