I've been doing the first bit a lot, like about a dozen times thus far, because that’s basically what the internets said for getting technology slots, but never seen the second bit.
Three more scrapped yesterday, no augmentation modules. Sadface.

I read a Reddit thread that says you only get the modules from scrapping A and S class ships, not B and C's. It also said you're more likely to find A's and S's in wealthy systems. Whatever they are. Some of the Nexus/Anomaly or regular space station Missions often have them as rewards too. I think it shows the rewards when you click on the details to each mission.

If it makes you feel better it used to be worse.
There's so many odd choices in there that clunk it all up, and that's coming from someone who knows how to live with GT7's menus.

I understand that there's all sorts of stuff still broken from whenever it launched too, particularly with disappearing objective icons. That photo capture thing that @TheCracker mentioned is one I encountered earlier in the year, where even a pixel of the haze around a building being in shot prevented the image of the landscape registering. I also have an active mission right now to scan fauna... on a planet where I already scanned all of the fauna. :ouch:

Been a long time since I played, but you use to be able to buy ships from NPCs at the Space Station, and sell them for a profit on your Freighter.

For extra slots, again, you use to be able to warp to other systems, and buy a slot or two at a time, at Space Stations.

I had more money than I could spend, and all my slots maxed out, by doing those two things.

That's been years ago, when I played on PS4.

Thought about starting a new play through, but there's been so much added now, I'd be lost.

Go to the space station where the Nexus is located. The main teleport gives names of the places you go to. There they write the names of Class A or Class S aircraft. You can find them from there.
