One of the last cars built for the original set of rules for the famed Canadian-American Challenge Cup (Or simply "Can-Am"), the Sting GW1 was designed around a modified McLaren M8F tub, but with a slightly longer wheelbase and a brand-new, hand-crafted body for wealthy American privateer Gary Wilson (A Rancher from the state of Kansas who would later compete in the Indianapolis 500) by famed car-builder John Collins. Powered by a "Big-Block" Chevrolet V8 pumping out over 750 Horsepower, Wilson drove the car to 5th place in the final "Original" Can-Am race at Elkhart Lake, Wi in 1974.
I must confess that I partially want this car in a futre GT Title due to having a chance to see up-close at the "Wine Country Classic" Historic Car Races at Sears Point Raceway, but also because I feel that GT Games need more Can-Am cars in general... Plus, it's a virtually All-American "Homebuilt"! (Since the tub itself was extensively redesigned by Collins's firm.) What more could you want?
