THIS MONTH'S THEME

I discussed options with @MatskiMonk, the winner of LEC 40.
This month's LEC is "What if..."

Following on from Ferrari teasing a light blue livery for Miami and then the hype from all the
concepts online, the reality of their livery was a disappointment.

Have you ever saw a new livery launch and felt you could have made a better version?
Do it.

Take over the launch of a team.
Improve the livery.
Share it with us.

Any team. Any era. Any motorsport.

Please read the rules below to make sure you don't miss anything when you post your entry, as ignoring them can get you disqualified.

CARS:
  • No Restrictions

BODY PARTS / WIDEBODY:
  • No Restrictions

LIVERIES:
  • Your take on an original livery. Original sponsors must be used.

UNIQUE RESTRICTIONS:
  • No Restrictions

BONUS PICTURE SETTINGS:
  • No Restrictions

USER MADE DECALS:
  • Allowed

GENERAL COMPETITION RULES

ENTRY SUBMISSION

  • The only way you can take part is to be a member of the GTPlanet forums. If you haven't created your account yet, click here.
  • Mark your FINAL ENTRY clearly, with red text.
  • Unsure how to? Copy and paste the following: FINAL ENTRY
  • One entry per user. It must be your own work, and never previously used in a competition.
  • You may change your entry once. Do it clearly; edit out your previous entry, and either post the new one in a new reply, or in place of the original.
  • Do not post "Honourable Mentions" or outtakes - just your Final Entry, that's all.
  • Absolutely no entries which utilise edited/hacked file saves.
  • Winner gets to choose the following month’s theme.
  • The organisers may ask for the original image/livery and it must be submitted if so.
  • It's recommended to share the original livery online (in-game) to prove it’s your work.

ENTRY PRESENTATION
  • All images shall have preview images which may not exceed 640 pixels in either direction (main and bonus pictures).
  • You have to post two main pictures of your entry using the mandatory location and settings as shown in the quote below.
  • You are allowed to post two bonus pictures in a spoiler (
...
) with free location and settings (unless the unique restrictions of the week’s theme specify something else).
  • You have to make one post with ONLY the set allowed number of pictures and the FINAL ENTRY (see above) mark. If you want to add precisions/background story/links, you are allowed to double-post under your entry, but please put all additional images in a spoiler. The best way to do it will be to "reply" to your own post.
  • It is recommended you host your image either here on GTPlanet (via the Media section), or on Flickr
  • Not sure how to submit your image? Here's a guide for both methods mentioned above.
  • Do not attach your phots directly to your entry post.
  • A preview image must be representative of the full-size image. Do not add effects to it.
  • Please use a clickable-preview to full-size, not a separate text link for it; it makes poll creation much easier!
  • No post-game editing of any entry image is allowed.
  • Mark your entry with which platform you're on and which mode you're using, whether it’s taken on PS4 Base, PS4 Pro, PS5 Raytracing or PS5 Framerate.

MANDATORY PICTURES
  • You have to post a front and a rear quarter view of your car:
    • Mandatory Scape: S&Company East, Saitama, Japan (scape number 5)
    • Focal Length: ~80mm ±5mm
    • Aperture: f5.6 or f8.0
    • Shutter Speed: 1/1 Second
    • Exposure Correction: +0.5 to +1.0
  • Do not use any Filters or Effects at all and only the camera setting above within the allowed limits; the pictures are supposed to be as equal as possible for all entries and not give anyone who is a bit more savvy with the Scapes Camera an advantage! Try to stay as close as possible to how the video shows the shot to be taken!

NOTE: if you have previously entered, just go to Scapes > My Library > click your previous entry > Open Scapes > change car to the new entry, refocus and snap a new photo. No need to reposition the camera/car unless its proportions are wildly different.

Please, ensure you read and understand all requirements for this competition. Failure to follow the rules may result in disqualification. If you have questions, start a convo with me, Matski or any other participant you feel comfortable reaching out to.

PLEASE NOTE: Repeat offenders will be disqualified. If your entry doesn’t match the rules you will be made aware of it at least once, so please keep an eye out for any notifications reaching your profile.

Interesting theme :) Hopefully something will spring to mind, 1st thought is which liveries do I dislike, hmmm...

The new locations are cool; how will they fit into the rules? Either/or, or one of both (same front and rear, zoom and lighting/effects etc. except new locations?)

You can use one or both but still only a front 1/4 and rear 1/4 shot. Still only two pics and spoilers

I will suggest someone do this car:

While not my personal favorite, I suspect it is in the category of being more popular than the renditions from GT3/GT4/GT5.

After long consideration I decided to enter a car which I had already made in the past.
When Dutch rally driver Antoine Biesheuvel presented his M3 rally car which he uses in the Historic championship, I immediately wanted to recreate it in GT7 because it was such a cool livery.
Now, people who follow me here know that once I do a livery, I always tend to do more colour variations.
This is ideal for this LEC and I really think that the white version looks better, even though we already have enough rally cars with a white base colour, but to me it just pops better than the blue which is used in real life.

Don't know if it's OK that I used both new photo locations. In my opinion the museum shot was better used for the front, otherwise you wouldn't really see the hood. For the rear that location in the pits worked better.

Make sure to check out the bonus images because there you see the white version paired with the actual/original blue car.

See the real car here: Antoine Biesheuvel BMW M3

I think that's the point of the two location options.

Looks great!! But I thought the theme was to make your own version (not just switching the colours around) ?? Yours is a replica, right? Maybe I misunderstood the theme... ??

That is how I understood this months challenge. Looking at @Racerx_34 his example screenshot.
Everything is the same on both cars, but he changed the colours.
  • Your take on an original livery. Original sponsors must be used.
So that's how I got into this, you take/create an original livery and then go and change the colours because in your opinion the car would have looked way better if those colours were used. Let's take the Grello Porsche's with the bright yellow and green. Maybe if you use blue or red instead of the green it might pop even better (in your opinion), then I thought that would be eligible.

@MatskiMonk and @Racerx_34 will surely clarify how they saw this LEC going down :D

It's up to you.
The sponsors have to be exactly the same.
It can be a colour swap or a better tribute livery for example.

Take McLaren's Monaco Senna livery.
Someone can now take this season's sponsors and overlay it on the old Marboro Senna colours if they want.

I think that's the point of the two location options.

If people want to try a colour swap that's ok for this round.
The BMW is running a white base as opposed to the black base of the original and it's a more modern design than the original.
On both points it works for this LEC.

Got ya. I had it in my head quite different: take the classic Marlboro livery and design it the way you would have done it (stripes, circles, curves, whatever). But I see where you're going with it.

One week to go and you could be about to win this by default.

Would be interesting to see if the drop off is Summer related or more people having issues with the editor.

I might put up a Special N24 round next, depending on the new car releases.
Could tie it into the new cars released and do a Gr4, TC, Wagon special.

Given the drop off, if I do a Special N24 special it will be for June/July.

FINAL ENTRY

What If...

Having initially backed Drift Games with their Lambo,
LBWK decided to add their own twist to the Drift Games Silvias that compete in Drift Masters.
Carbon Fibre base with transparent wrap to get the look I wanted.
G2A decals now white font on black. Rear decal added to achieve this.
Now with added LBWK decals.

Original Akiba livery included in the bonus shots for comparison.
