Why is the Lancer Evo being ignored?

I really liked the lancer evos in the past and while the evo X (or final) is considered to be not so good compared to the previous versions, I like the design so I was planning on using one.

But I noticed that no one is using the lancer evo in amy daily races let alone not even a mention about lancer evo in the threads here when talking about which car performs good.

Is the lancer evo in GT7 a subpar vehicle compared to other cars?
 
First car I bought in the game was an Evo V. Have since bought the X and the Gr3 car.

No complaints here.
 
It seems slow and outclassed in bop similar to GT sport. I recall one race where it excelled, but I usually see the Mazdas, rcz, or faster cars used. The Supra always stood out for me as OP as well.
 
They axed the AYC controller so they aren't nearly as fun to drive anymore.
