GT Academy 2010 TV Series, Starts Sunday in UK

GT Academy 2010 is about to be turned into a reality TV series, airing Sundays this fall on UK television’s Channel 4. As you may recall, GT Academy 2010 took the world’s fastest hot-lappers (so long as they didn’t live in excluded countries, such as Japan, Canada, or the United States…ugh) from the GT5 Time Trial Demo and put them under stewardship of real-world motorsports stars such as Eddie Jordan, Johnnie Herbert, and Sabine Schmitz for 5 days of physical, mental, and driving tests at Silverstone. The winner joined the RJN Nissan Motorsports team to compete for the FIA GT4 2010 European Cup.

I won’t spoil the end result for those of you who will be watching the competition for the first time, but the drama throughout the week should make for a great show and nearly all of the finalists you’ll see are GTPlanet members. Here’s the full schedule, and a short preview video of the first day below.

Actual start times may vary – please check your local listings.

Ep 1- Sunday 19th Sept @ 08:20
Ep 2- Sunday 26th Sept @ 08:00
Ep 3- Sunday 3rd Oct @ 08:00
Ep 4- Sunday 10th Oct @ 08:00
Ep 5- Sunday 17th Oct @ 08:00
Ep 6- Sunday 24th Oct @ 07:30

I initially found this program to be interesting the first time around but the novelty wore off fairly quickly. since then it just seemed to me a program about how to get to become a race car driver which i know is the point of the program but it doesn’t show off anything about the game.

still it’s not that big a deal for me.

I recorded it this morning and watched it, it was ok considering it is only episode 1 but I’m not sure how they are going to keep it going for 8 episodes.

I actually thought it was pretty crazy how they played a one lap time trial on a PS3 then were let loose in real cars, I know for a fact I would be useless trying to go quick round a new track in the wet compared to practicing the same lap over and over in a time trial in the dry.

Anyone know how we can watch this outside of the UK? The video just says “The service is currently not available in your area.” Tried their help section link as well but it wasn’t very helpful.

This would make for good publicity of the Playstation Brand as well as Gran Turismo.

Sony should try to get this aired on as many different channels and in different countries as possible.

I mean they could spend some of that marketing cap to port over this show to different places.

Frappy you must be either 10 years old or just some dude trying really to be a hard ass over the net to describe your grammar as “ice cold”

For some reason, this makes me really excited for the karting in GT5 lol. I wonder if the episodes will make it to the US.
