With the Formula 1 circus officially on summer break after last weekend’s German Grand Prix, Codemasters is taking advantage of the lull period and is showing off a new trailer for this year’s upcoming game, and are announcing a new championship — all with 14 days left on the clock until its release.

Nicolas Hamman, who won the 2014 US GT Academy, will participate in NASCAR for the first time this weekend after securing a seat for the XFINITY series race at Watkins Glen. Driving the #74 Mike Harmon Racing Xfinity Car, Hamman will make his debut at the famous circuit in a Dodge branded stock-car.

After weeks of teasing, Turn 10 has unveiled its bid for the burgeoning eSports segment. Dubbed the Forza Racing Championship, the ESL-hosted event will be open to all Forza Motorsport 6 players, with numerous prizes up for grabs. At the top of the pile is a brand new 2017 Focus RS, provided by the first season’s title sponsor.

This is certainly interesting. For those so inclined, snagging a shiny and new Bugatti is hardly a newsworthy event. It’s a different story altogether when the one-off Vision Gran Turismo that was shown off at last year’s Frankfurt motor show is claimed, and seemingly right under everyone’s nose.

After a month-long break, the Pirelli World Challenge got underway again last weekend, with Rounds 14 & 15 taking place at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Heading in, Alvaro Parente (K-PAX Racing McLaren 650S GT3) enjoyed a 52-point lead over Patrick Long (Wright Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 R), with Michael Cooper (Cadillac Racing ATS-V.R) a further 66 points back.

While nothing substantial has been revealed courtesy of GT Sport’s visit to China — at least in terms of new content shown — the interviews that continue to surface shed light on a number of subjects that highlight continued support for the title past its release later this year.

As has been talked about all week long, the Summer Special episode of Kunos’ developer stream, Look What the Cat Hacked In, revealed a respectable portion of what the team has planned for the future of Assetto Corsa over the coming months. Kunos’ Marco Massarutto had even more to share regarding the racer; the immediate focus becoming what wouldn’t be included, at least not in the first game.

Alongside dropping the news that GT Sport is currently 70% complete, Kazunori Yamauchi has also revealed an interesting insight into how Polyphony Digital view the latest entry in the Gran Turismo series.

In a recent interview with Chinese news outlet Sina, Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that Gran Turismo Sport is currently around “70% Complete” and improvements are occurring on a ‘daily basis’ to ready the game for it’s November release.

Despite last week’s unfortunate leak, Forza Horizon 3 continues as normal with it’s car reveals on the run up to release. This week, Road and Track have unveiled 14 of the cars that will take their place in the car roster — and in particular 3 beauties which are sure to make your car senses tingle.

If for some reason or another you’ve missed the news, Assetto Corsa has gone “gold” for consoles. There won’t be any further bumps along the road affecting its scheduled release dates later this month. With that in mind, things have been steadily heating up over the past several weeks and with no end in sight, there’s even more content to look forward to.

Fans of the most popular American auto-racing series are undoubtedly excited as progress on the newest NASCAR game continues. As you may have heard when we shared the official trailer earlier this week, Monster Games — the developer behind early-2000’s NASCAR games and PC classic Viper Racing — is working on NASCAR Heat Evolution. The game is scheduled to appear on September 13 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Project CARS is no longer the sole title on the market that supports Oculus Rift in its retail form. Recently support has been added to rally simulator DiRT Rally, introduced in an update earlier this summer for PC game versions. Although the download weighed an eye-popping 10.2GB, it certainly seems to be worth it, considering the praise from people who’ve used it.

Located in Britain, Oulton Park circuit has hosted a number of Formula-style events during the its existence — British F3 still visits every year — before it became widely associated with modern touring car competitions.
