Assetto Corsa Competizione players who opt for the PC version of the GT World Challenge simulator will be downloading update 1.9 and getting hold of the 2023 GTWC pack today, but it looks like ninth-gen console players won’t have all that long to wait to join them.
Alongside announcing the availability of the updated current-season pack — priced at $/€12.99 (£10.99) — official ACC social media channels have also revealed that the DLC will be coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles at a future date in 2023. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players, as expected, look set to miss out.
However DLC has often been slow to make the transition, with eight months between PC and console releases of the Challengers Pack DLC — though that was joined simultaneously by the five-month old American Track Pack “Land of the Free” DLC.
With the 2023 GT World Challenge pack launching today on PC and Kunos Simulazioni confirming a 2023 target for the PS5/Xbox Series versions, we’d expect to see it some time around mid-Q3 — although there is a small wrinkle that might see it take a little longer.
The 1.9 update, which brings support for the DLC pack, also features a host of physics changes centering on the overall tire and suspension models to address glitches with extreme settings. When similarly major tire changes came in 1.8, it took Untold Games a while to enact them in the console port due to testing them on a car-by-car basis.
As for the pack itself, that brings three new cars and a brand new GT World Challenge Europe circuit to the game.
There’s the updated Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo 2, the new-model Porsche 911 992 GT3 R, and the all-new Ferrari 296 GT3 to play with, and the Circuit Ricardo Tormo which hosts a round of the Sprint series.
Additionally, the 1.9 update brings changes to the Mercedes AMG GT3 Evo for all players, and updated liveries for the real-world 2023 championship season, alongside the physics changes and bugfixes.
