Earlier today, we reported on a quick flash of new GT Sport content found in a PlayStation video. A longer edit of the clip has now surfaced, and with it, confirmations of even more upcoming goodies for Polyphony Digital’s sim racer.
Let’s just jump right into it: after putting the NSX GT3 racer on display beside the game at PlayStation Experience last winter, the car can be spotted in-game in the clip above, leading an Audi R8 LMS through the Nürburgring’s famous Karussell. While it’s quite new, the GT3-spec NSX seems popular already: it’s destined for Project CARS 2 as well.
That’s another addition to the burgeoning Gr.3 class of cars, but it isn’t alone. Immediately after, a red version of Acura’s racer is spotted on what looks like a new track (more on that later). With yellow headlights, it looks like a modern interpretation of the Team Kunimitsu NSX that was campaigned at the 1995 24 Hours of Le Mans — and which provided the basis for the NSX-R LM Edition way back in the original Gran Turismo.
It’s possible this second race car could be the Honda version, as the road-going model of the reborn sports car wears the H badge on its snout in GT Sport. A clearer shot of the car will sort this out.
A Mclaren MP4-12C is visible in a road car lineup at Tokyo While it seems an odd inclusion in the face of the 650S already being a part of the roster, it isn’t without precedent: the Mercedes SLS and GT currently both line up in the N-series and Gr.3 classes.
Meanwhile, it appears another track has been inserted into GT Sport. Given the tall man-made structure, it seems this is unrelated to the other unknown location in the video. The addition of designated lanes has some fans suggesting this circuit is another oval in the same vein as Northern Isle Speedway, but it’s impossible to tell given the quick look. Perhaps one of the Polyphony classics, like High Speed Ring, has received another makeover?
With any luck, the upcoming move to Phase Two of the Closed Beta Test Version will put some — if not all — of these questions to bed. Stay tuned for more GT Sport news as it happens.
Thanks to AKps3 for finding the longer clip!
