The hotly anticipated sequel to 2014’s Assetto Corsa, Assetto Corsa EVO, is going to miss its planned 2024 launch window according to the most recent financial statements from Digital Bros.
This delay was revealed in the 2023-2024 full year draft financial results, published on the Digital Bros. website following their sign-off by the board of directors.
It’s a typically weighty read, but does contain some interesting little glimpses of information. For example, the report cites Assetto Corsa and its spin-off, Assetto Corsa Competizione, as the most significant contributors to the company’s “Premium Games” — as opposed to free-to-play — sector, with a revenue stated at €28 million ($31.2m).
However, it also confirms that we’re going to be waiting a mite longer to get our hands on Assetto Corsa EVO, and that also means it’ll be longer still before it’s in a full release state.
The report twice states that the PC version of Assetto Corsa EVO will now be arriving in Early Access for on Steam at some point in January 2025.
Given that the original title was, similarly, an Early Access title in November 2013 but not a full release until the following December, it could hint that we won’t have an actual, buyable version of the game until 2026 — though we’d hope for a slightly quicker process this time around.
Notably the report cites the “PC version” specifically, which does still play into earlier stated plans to bring the title to other systems too. The precise nature of those systems hasn’t yet been confirmed, but we’re expecting it to mean PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. We’d also expect a significant wait for them, following the full PC version launch.
Having originally been announced as a 2024 release, what was then unofficially Assetto Corsa 2 became a “Spring 2024” title soon after. With the new name revealed, that was blurred out to a general 2024 release with a Steam listing back in June before this latest bump back down the calendar.
