Assetto Corsa’s September Update Now Available on PS4

Assetto Corsa Maserati Levante S

Kunos Simulazioni have released the first console patch for Assetto Corsa nearly a month after release. The patch addresses a number of issues brought to light by the community, and is now available on the PlayStation 4.

To compound the improvements introduced in the update, console players are given additional pieces of content at no additional cost: Black Cat County and the Maserati Levante S.

Loosely based on the American South, Black Cat County will be available in three configurations and offers players the feeling of driving on an open road. The Maserati Levante S on the other hand, while appearing to be a bit of an outcast, is anything but. The first SUV introduced into the game, it is surprisingly agile for its weight and can attack corners with the best of them.

The complete rundown of everything included in the 1.03 update is as follows:

Graphics
• Framerate is now smoother.
• Screen tearing issues have now been resolved.

Quick Races
• Players will now be able to select their starting position in the race options screen. • Gamepad algorithms have been improved, resulting in better handling.

Controls
• On launching Assetto Corsa, the game will now recognize the device you are using, when selecting the ‘X’ button in the start screen.
• A ‘Reset to Default’ option has now been added that resets the gamepad settings to recommended values.
• Thrustmaster T80, T100 and TH8 shifter functionality has been improved.
• A new option has been added which allows the player to set the visual steering lock to a degree of their choice.

AI Opponents
• 2 additional difficulty levels have been added – ‘Very Easy’ and ‘Very Hard’.
• AI strengths have been re-balanced, in response to community feedback.
• Algorithms have been improved.

    • AI strengths have been re-balanced, in response to community feedback.

It’s not re-balanced as far as i can see.

Quick race BMW Z4 E89 Nurbürgring sprint is just as hard on easy as it was before this update, the Z4 is not fast enough against the BMW M3, so i have a hard time achieve 3 place as i had before this update.
Yes i can set the difficulty to very easy, but i hoped the re-balance would be enough.

This is exactly the point I was trying to make below. In fact, you referenced exactly the same race I was using as reference point. I’m not saying that I want “Medium” to be easier, as I know there are other options. However, the clear implication is that the patch was supposed to make some difference in the AI strengths across the board (i.e. at each difficulty level) and I just don’t think it has.

Wonderful game.. the physics are very good. Now white the update I notice improvement.
I hope for the next update they worked on the online part of the game. Private lobby where you can change car or track or set the lobby like I want to.
For now a good replacement for gran turismo.

Can someone explain the new track. Is it laid out in square blocks, or just one road with a scenic vibe. Also does it have night and day, rain. I find this feature really intriguing, especially if the can add more. toyko, germany..

DS4 feels a bit better and the picture is smoother. That said, I don’t really notice much difference in the AI difficulty as a whole. When I set it to “Medium” I get smoked just as badly as I used to. Additionally, no custom button mapping is a bummer, and while the driver turning animation in the cockpit is better, it’s still jerky.

The update is fine, and they are clearly working, but to be honest it fell some way short of what I was hoping for.

@ALB123 – Indeed, but since the AI was ‘rebalanced in response to customer feedback’ I played at the same level I did before the update. I expected the update to make some difference between my speed and that of the AI, but the race ends with them just as far ahead as they were before. ‘Very Easy’, here I come!!!

@GrumpyGrumps — Ahh. I see what you meant. Hey, nothing wrong with using “Very Easy”. That’s why it’s there. You’ll find improvements over time as you get used to driving in Assetto Corsa. Keep pluggin’ along!
