Kunos Simulazioni have revealed on the offiicial Assetto Corsa Facebook page that new content is on the way to the game. That content, pictured above, is the Audi R8 V10 Plus and unlike its GT3 class brethren that was introduced in last month’s Dream Pack 2 expansion, the R8 V10 Plus will be made available to everyone as free bonus content.
This reveal comes hot on the heels that work may have already began on the next paid DLC coming to the game. Kunos posted the following video on the aforementioned Facebook page, showing former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard taking to Silverstone in the Lotus 25 driven by Jim Clark with the caption “Prepare yourself… #dreampack3.”
While a release window hasn’t been mentioned for either the R8 V10 Plus or Dream Pack 3 stay tuned to GTPlanet for more news when it becomes available. In the mean time be sure to stop by our Assetto Corsa sub-forum for more discussion and in-depth analysis.

What a great video! Never knew Fangio said that Jim Clark was the best race car driver. It’s kind of ironic for me, since Fangio is my all time favorite racer.
Fangio was the one who said (paraphrased): ‘you should always believe you could be the best, but you should never believe you have actually done so’. Perhaps complementing Jimmy was Fangio’s way of complementing himself! :D
Yeah, that sounds like a reasonable deduction.
Hans Zimmer – An Ideal Hope at 2 minute mark. Fits video nicely.
The Lotus 25 is one of the most beautiful F1 cars ever, and one of the cars that changed the motorsport, for sure.
Hope the car lineup stays different from PCARS, so i have more motivation to play both :P
Lotus 25 eh? The Lotus 49 in AC is already one of my all time favourites in sim racing, I suspect the Lotus 25 might be added to that list. Perhaps a Lotus 72D in there for good measure? :)
If I could be brutally honest – I really wish more racing sims had Chaparrals. Heck, I’d pay out of my butt if someone got every single Chaparral (from the 1 and 2A to 2K) in a game.
I’d pay for an entire current game that only had cars from about 1990 and back with a heavy focus on the 50’s to 70’s. There’s just something very enticing about racing those old machines. No ABS, no TC, hard tires that can carry big slip angles. Simple cockpits with no buttons or adjustments, steering with your right foot as much as with the steering wheel. Heel and toe in every corner. This week in the Assetto Corsa Time Attack Challenge 2.0 we’re running the Ferrari 312T at Barcelona on the Moto course and it’s such a delight to punch the throttle and spin up the tires in second and third gear, carrying some big oversteer for a couple of hundred feet around the sweepers. Can’t wait for this DLC!
The 25 is basically built on the same concept as the 49 (or, rather, the other way around), just to a smaller platform because of the 1.5 litre engine, and no stressed engine yet. So it’s similarly adjustable and sharp; at least going by amateur simulations produced for GPL. :D It might feel a little underpowered, though, as they all did at that time.
On the engine note, that Coventry Climax FWMV engine is one of my all-time favourites (YouTube: Jim Clark at Oulton Park ’63); the trouble is that Classic Team Lotus seem to swap engines around on the cars they demo at different events, so it’s hard to predict which version will be recorded for the game. I hope it’s the pre-’64 version with the crossplane crank and bundle of snakes exhaust (CC were the first to use these, much to their derision).
I’m waiting for a sincere re-attempt at the Grand Prix Legends concept. So far, I’m not convinced by the cynical pandering and the elevation of the 49 to the level of yardstick, much as the E30 is. Yes, it’s fantastic that these cars are reaching a wider audience, but they need to stop messing around and get on with it proper! :)
