When we heard about the announcement for Truck Driver last month, we were pretty excited. For the first time, console players would get the opportunity to get behind the wheel of a virtual big rig. Now we are finding out a little more about the game.
For starters, the team at SOEDESCO announced a few new features and improvements for the game. Chief among them are day-night cycles and an updated map.
While the day-night cycle was pretty much a given, we did have concerns about the map. Even some of our forum members expressed their wariness of how small and bland it looked. It sounds like SOEDESCO listened to the followers of the game though.
According to its latest news post, the map density is now bumped up. This means there should be more buildings, trees, vehicles, and other things to make the environment feel more lifelike. The team also said it improved the graphics since the game’s announcement trailer.
Unfortunately, SOEDESCO is still keeping the information a bit scarce for its upcoming game.
But, the other bit about its new post might change that. Currently, the company is accepting sign-ups for a closed beta of Truck Driver.
Hopefully, those who get into the closed beta can talk about the game in more detail.
SOEDESCO said that once the beta closes, it will use feedback from players to improve the game even more. It really does seem like the team learned a valuable lesson from its time with Real Farm, which took a beating in its early Steam release.
If you would like to sign up for the beta yourself, you can head over to the Truck Driver website. However, be aware it does require you to sign up for its email list. It also appears that the beta is only for PC players using the Steam client.
With the game entering the beta phase, we hope to get a release date in the near future. As of right now, all SOEDESCO says is that the game is coming soon for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
