A new update for DIRT 5 lands today, and brings with it an important feature for PlayStation owners: Fanatec peripheral support.
Back when the game launched in November 2020, it didn’t support wheels at all on any platform. Wheel functionality came along with update 2.00, a month later, but this only covered Logitech and Thrustmaster devices.
Today’s update, officially called 4.04 (insert your own “file not found” joke), finally completes the set by including support for Fanatec devices too — at least on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
The full list of supported peripherals includes officially licensed PS4 wheels and add-ons, including pedals, shifter and handbrake:
- Fanatec CSL Elite Racing Wheel
- Fanatec Podium Racing Wheel F1
- Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel – BMW GT2, Formula, Porsche 918 RSR
- Fanatec ClubSport Steering Wheel Universal Hub
- Fanatec CSL Steering Wheel – McLaren GT3, P1 PS4
- Fanatec CSR Elite Pedals
- Fanatec CSL Elite Pedals
- Fanatec ClubSport Pedals – V1, V2, V3, V3i
- Fanatec ClubSport Handbrake
- Fanatec ClubSport Shifter
There’s further PlayStation love in the update by way of fixes for two PSN Trophies — I’ll Show Them! I’ll Show Them All! and Spare Some Change for Gas? — which haven’t been pinging appropriately. Although Codemasters hasn’t gone into detail, the patch also features other fixes and tweaks “to improve game performance across all modes”, and on all platforms.
While Xbox users might be feeling left out, there’s also a new and exclusive content pack for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, available through the Perks system. It goes by the name of the “Power Your Memes” pack, and adds three new liveries and a rather odd bonus item for use in the game’s Playgrounds feature.
Players who get the free pack can add the Microsoft Xbox Series X fridge to their Playgrounds arenas, although it does look terrifyingly large in the screenshot above. That accompanies exclusive liveries for the BMW M2 Competition, Jimco Unlimited Class 1, and Sodicars Racing BV6.
Both the 4.04 update and the Power Your Memes pack are available now.
