As teased earlier last month, Assetto Corsa’s ‘Dream Pack 2’ DLC will introduce nine brand-new vehicles to the game as well as a laser-scanned version of Circuit de Catalunya, home of the Spanish Formula One Grand Prix. The cars included in Dream Pack 2 are as follows:

  • Lamborghini Countach 5000 Quattro Valvole
  • Lamborghini Huracan GT3
  • Ford GT40 MK1
  • Scuderia Cameron Glickenhaus SCG003
  • AUDI R8 LMS ULTRA 2014
  • RUF RT12R AWD
  • RUF RT12R RWD
  • BMW M4 Coupe
  • BMW M4 Coupe Akrapovic Edition

In addition to Dream Pack 2, Kunos will also update the core game to version 1.3 which will include a reworked physics engine that fully supports multi-core processors, improved 2D/3D models, and updated textures and shaders, optimized dedicated servers, and improved sound effects. The full details on those changes are as follows:

Physics

64-bit natively supported and car physics calculated on multi-thread. The physics engine has been reworked to become completely multithreaded: as a result, the driving precision is augmented, the accuracy further improved and the physics solver has enough horsepower to completely resolve any difficult calculations any speed, achieving butter smooth Force Feedback and complete elimination of signal noise and vibrations. We’ll be back with more details on physics updates when the new build will be released next week.

Graphics

2D/3D models, textures and shaders have been updated and improved, in order to keep the standards reached with the latest content. Now windscreens receive shadows, and a new camera facing feature improves the rendering of 2D/3D objects on track. A first basic support for dynamic objects on tracks has been added as well, and it will be improved in future updates, with the aim to get a more immersive environment.

SFX

Fine tuning and improved algorithms for audio editing: all new cars benefit by use of new techniques of recording and sampling for engines, interiors and exhaust systems, also thanks to the technical cooperation of Akrapovic. This allows to recreate a more detailed audio trace and the exclusive detail of each car, improving the immersion while driving. Content that are available already in Assetto Corsa will be updated during the process, to bring them to a higher level of realism and in line with the latest quality standards.

Multiplayer

Dedicated server has been optimized in order to improve general stability. New parameters and features have been added to server configuration, in order to please the requests of gamers who are looking for a more comprehensive online experience.

Got a chance to give a couple of cars a spin tonight and I have to say, this update hit it out of the ballpark. Just when you think AC couldn’t get any better, it does. The FFB is even more detailed and nuanced now, and I feel even more connected to the car now. The sound is better, a little more tire squeal is great and it’s adjustable of course. The Lambo was fun, but the Ruf R12T was bananas! So much poooooowwwweeerr and wheelspin it was like trying to ride a bucking bronco. When this game comes to console, any true sim driver/racer is going to love this game just for the sheer joy of driving!

Didn’t have time to play tonight but had a gander at the Countach 5000 QV and was very happy to see a Walter Wolf livery in there. Nice touch Kunos, nice touch.

I’ve been playing Assetto Corsa for 5 days now. I am so happy to see more Lamborghini’s coming to AC. Some of the free community created cars are really great, but most are just average. It’s wonderful to see that more official cars are coming even if we have to pay a couple of dollars for them.

Very good point SimTourist, everybody got something, I’m waiting for this game to come out on console next year.

Someone has reading comprehension skills. “Assetto Corsa” looks nothing like “Gran Turismo.” Or are you just trying to stir up trouble?

  5. Flash3001

I like the way they write their update notification. It’s really technical: “64-bit natively supported and car physics calculated on multi-thread. The physics engine has been reworked to become completely multithreaded”

Now that I read this, I’m a little surprised they used to be single-thread. Multi-threading is much better.

    2. Johnnypenso

Looks like it might just be a translation from native Italian but that’s just a guess. If the physics were that good on single thread imagine how great they’ll be now!

Wow, that Huracan tho! Photo looks so real! I actually thought it was real until I saw the AC logo in the bottom left corner!
