Forza Motorsport 7 players have a chance to get behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 race car in a new competition.
The contest, a collaboration between Porsche, Forza Motorsport and ESL, runs from July 29 through to October 2. It takes the form of an in-game challenge in its initial stages.
To qualify, players must compete in an online lap time event. This first step runs from July 29 through August 7, giving players 10 days to set their time. For this, players must use the 2019 Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the Rivals In-Game Mode. The top 48 players from the global Rivals rankings then qualify for the Online Playoffs stage.
The live-streamed playoffs get underway on August 11. First, the players are split into four groups of 12 players each. Each group then races a Free-For-All (FFA) BO2 race over a selected track, with the top six players in each group advancing to the second day.
For the second day, players are again split into 12s, but in two groups. They will race off against each other again, this time in FFA BO3 races, and the top four in each group advance to the next stage.
This will a live event at Gamescom in Cologne. It takes place on August 22, with the remaining eight players driving FFA BO5 races in order to find a final quartet. These four drivers then head to a driver training day at Porsche Liepzig on August 27.
But there’s more competition to come after that. With a month’s break after the Liepzig event, the four drivers will then head to the Hungaroring. There’ll be more professional driver training on October 1, followed by one last time trial. This will feature a Porsche Cup simulator, and the fastest driver there takes the overall victory.
For the winner, there’s a very special prize. They get to attend a four-day event in Barcelona, starting November 25, where they’ll participate in the two-day Porsche Master Cup training session. This is a training course for Porsche customers who want to enter the world of motorsport, and the training includes laps of the Circuit de Catalunya in a 911 GT3 RS and a 991 GT3 Cup race car.
To be eligible for the Online Playoffs, players must be resident in Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Portugal, Russia, Spain or Switzerland.
