More F1 2017 Details: Expanded Career Mode, XB1X/ PS4 Pro Support

June has been a busy month for the team at Codemasters. DiRT 4 was released into the public’s hands, Micro Machines: World Tour is due to launch next week and F1 2017 took to the stage for E3. The industry veteran hit Los Angeles to talk about the title and turn some heads with what it has in store this August.

Lee Mather on Twitch: A Further Expanded Career Mode

Creative Director Lee Mather appeared during Twitch’s live stream to talk about the latest entry in the series.

F1 2017 is continuing to expand on the precedent set with 2016, with your experience as a driver becoming even more intricate in Career. Research and Development will be a key focus, much like last year’s entry. The team you choose will be able to improve its car through each season in an RPG-like fashion.

This is achieved by earning credits distributed through specific R&D challenges in practice sessions during race weekends. When you earn the credits, you can then invest in areas you feel you need to improve in. To mirror the real life motorsport, engines and gearboxes are now consumables too. Use too many of these and you’ll need to face the associated penalties.

PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X Support Showcased

F1 2017 appeared on the showfloor during E3 running on PlayStation 4 Pro and Xbox One X consoles. The super-powered hardware will support the newest entry and Codies proved it to the gaming public. Lee Mather was very happy with the team’s showing:

“We also confirmed that F1 2017 will be supported on Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. A lot of people asked about Xbox One X… so it was very cool to be able to point them over to the game running at the show!”

Winner of Atomix’s ‘Best Sports Game’ Title at E3 2017

F1 2017 bested showings from the likes of FIFA, Pro Evolution Soccer and WRC7 to take home the award from Mexican games outlet Atomix.

E3 is the biggest gaming showcase in the world, so this was no mean feat. Congratulations to the team at Codemasters — we’re looking forward to getting more seat time with the game this summer.
