Codemasters has today announced the official game of the 2021 Formula One World Championship, F1 2021.
The first F1 title under Codemasters’ new EA ownership naturally follows on from its predecessor, F1 2020. It will, as you’d expect, feature all the 2021 season teams, including the new Aston Martin and Alpine teams, and the new circuits of Portimao, Imola, and the Jeddah Street Circuit — which will arrive as free post-launch DLC.
F1 2020’s My Team mode will return, as will two-player split-screen, esports, and F2 integration. There are, of course, enhancements, with “real-season start” in the career mode allowing players to join in the F1 season at the same point as the real world, with real driver and constructor points as they stand.
You’ll also find a new two-player mode in the game’s Career, which allows players to join in each others’ campaigns and race alongside each other — as team-mates or rivals — with their own choices of aids and assists, so that players of different abilities can play together..
One all-new feature for 2021 is Braking Point, a new story mode. Players will take part in a driver journey through F2 and up into F1, including unspecified off-track activities, racing against returning rival Devin Butler.

Braking Point transforms the game and puts players centre stage in the greatest racing spectacle on the planet.”
The game launches on July 16 on PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series, and PC via steam, with PS5 and Xbox Series versions getting the benefits of a dedicated next-gen console version with better visuals and loading times. Players who pre-order the Digital Deluxe Edition get three days’ early access, along with 18,000 PitCoins and seven “iconic F1 drivers” for use in My Team mode. All pre-orders get a bonus Braking Point Content Pack, which brings a set of exclusive in-game items and 5,000 PitCoins.
