F1 25 Revealed, Launches May 30 with Braking Point, F1 Movie Tie-In… and Reverse Tracks?

The 2025 instalment of EA’s official Formula One title, F1 25, has been revealed with a new trailer starring Sir Lewis Hamilton, and what looks like some surprising twists.

Global launch for this year’s title will take place on Friday May 30, on PC and ninth-gen consoles only, marking the first time that PlayStation 4 and Xbox One support has been dropped. As usual players who pick up the highest-priced version will be able to get early access — by three days with the Iconic Edition.

As we’d been expecting, the “Braking Point” story mode will make a return as it follows its one-on, one-off cycle of games, with the third chapter focusing on the latest developments with the fictional Konnersport team looking to secure championship titles. This will now feature different difficulty settings too.

Additionally, it looks the Braking Point will tie into the upcoming F1 movie, with players who pre-order the Iconic Edition being able to play “post-launch gameplay chapters inspired by” the movie and featuring the also-fictional APX GP team.

One we weren’t expecting comes by way of the game’s circuits. Naturally we’d hope that F1 25 would contain all the tracks and cars of the real 2025 F1 season, but it appears that the track count could double judging by the trailer. That’s because three of the circuits shown in the trailer — Red Bull Ring, Silverstone, and Zandvoort — present cars driving the wrong way round the track.

We’re going to have to wait and see how that one pans out, and it might not apply to all tracks either, but it’s certainly out of left-field from EA. It wouldn’t be the first time that even F1 circuits have appeared with reverse running in a Codemasters title either; looking at you, GRID.

Whichever direction you run, there’ll be some track upgrades as EA has updated some circuits and their surroundings with LIDAR scanning. There’s no specifics on which tracks will be so enhanced yet, with EA only stating “several”.

There’s plenty more that’s under wraps for now, with more details coming in a “Deep Dive” series over the next few weeks, but you can pre-order the title now. It’s priced at $69.99 for the standard edition and $89.99 for the Iconic Edition, which also includes other F1 movie and Lewis Hamilton-related perks, and 2025 content for use in F1 24.

Players who already own F1 23 or F1 24 on PS5/Xbox Series (not PS4 or Xbox One) will be eligible for a 15% discount on the price, and don’t forget that there’s a standard 10% discount for EA Play members too.
