If you want to get your hands on the official wheel of Gran Turismo 7 before the game launches on March 4, 2022, now’s your chance. Fanatec has started listing the “express version” of its new Gran Turismo DD Pro wheel on its website for customers to order today.
- Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Express Version (US Store) – $849.95 USD
- Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Express Version (EU Store) – €849.95
- Fanatec Gran Turismo DD Pro Express Version (AU Store) – $1,499.95 AUD
In case you’ve missed out in the details, the GT DD Pro is the first official Gran Turismo wheel from Fanatec, and the first to use direct drive motor technology. This means that the steering wheel itself is attached directly to the motor input shaft rather than slaved to it by gears or belts (or both), allowing for much finer control and force feedback.
The wheel base itself is almost identical to that of the CSL DD, but it’s compatible with PlayStation consoles — supported by both PS4 and PS5. Meanwhile the wheel rim is designed in collaboration with Polyphony Digital in order to be as easy to use with Gran Turismo as it possibly can be.
At present, the wheel is only available as a bundle, but in three different grades. The entry kit consists of the wheel base, wheel rim, two-pedal set (based on the CSL Pedals), the table clamp, a 90W power supply, four T-nuts for the rail mount system, USB and RJ12 cabling, pedal spaces, and a Torx key.
You can also pick up the GT DD Pro with an upgraded “Power Boost 8Nm” power supply, or with a Load Cell upgrade for the pedal set, or — in the Premium edition — both. However all of these will only become available to buy on March 14, 2022, after GT7 launches.
That’s where the Express Version comes in. Available to order right now, it consists of the basic bundle but adds in air freight express shipping. This means you can get your Gran Turismo DD Pro wheel almost right away; customers who ordered the Express Version during the Black Friday promotion have already received their bundles.
It’s not a cheap option, of course. Plumping for the Express Version will set you back $150/€150, but it will guarantee you have the large white-and-blue box ahead of Christmas.
