Fanatec ClubSport DD and DD+ owners looking for a little more versatility in their wheelbase mountings can now pick up the DD Shaft Extension add-on.

The DD Shaft Extension comes in at $/€99.95 and adds a little length into the mix, allowing for a more remote wheel-mounting setup.
It’s a single, 160mm-long (6.3-inch) piece of CNC-machined billet aluminum, finished in classic Fanatec black. One end hard mounts to the wheelbase, with the other providing the QR2 Base Side Type-F quick release mount for any compatible wheel rim.
The Shaft Extension features integrated electronics, so attaching a compatible wheel is no different that any other QR2 wheelbase — just six inches further away. In fact you’ll be recycling the mount from your wheel, with the fitting instructions requiring you to remove it to mount the shaft and refitting it to the rim end.
It is, of course, only compatible with wheel bases using the QR2 Base-Side Type F quick release mounting, and as that can’t be purchased separately and used to upgrade, that means you’re restricted to ClubSport DD and DD+ wheel bases for now.
While that could add some reach for players who find it hard to mount the wheel far enough away on their rigs, Fanatec totes the improved immersion potential for the device. It’s made as thin as possible in order to allow for screens to be mounted between wheel and base to improve field of view.
