Registration is now open for the 2022 edition of the Ferrari Velas Esports Series, with the eventual champion winning themselves a seat on the Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports Team in 2023.
It’s the third season of what was the Ferrari Esports Series, which has previously seen Giovanni de Salvo become an official Ferrari esports driver in 2021, helping the team to a Virtual 24 Hours of Spa victory and take the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Series title.
2021’s Ferrari Esports Series winner Kamil Pawlowsky, who beat 30,000 competitors to the title, will be hoping to emulate these successes this coming season, as he races alongside Brendon Leigh and David Tonizza for major esports honors.
There’s a change to the event for this season though, which will see participation extended to include a North America region, encompassing Canada, Mexico, and the USA.
Two championships, one in Europe and one in North America, will run in parallel. Each will consist of a total of eight qualifying races on both Assetto Corsa and, for the first time, Assetto Corsa Competizione.
The registered participants will race four rounds in the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo in AC, and another four using the new Ferrari 488 Challenge Evo, which will arrive in the Challenger Pack in ACC on March 23.
Following the eight rounds on each continent, there’ll be a pair of Regional Finals. The top European players will race on September 13, with the North American final the following day on September 14. Each regional final will send the top three players to the Grand Final on October 2, in a new and as-yet undisclosed race format.
There can only be one winner, who’ll take their place on the Scuderia Ferrari Velas Esports Team in 2023 alongside the contracted esports drivers. However a special prize draw event will once again run alongside the main series which will see any driver who participates at any stage — including hot-lap qualification — eligible for Ferrari-branded prize merchandise by way of four random draws.
