The Playground Games team will be broadcasting a special stream today, June 19, to preview the upcoming Series 22, which will reveal the second stage of Donut Media content for Forza Horizon 5.
We already learned about some of what’s coming up as part of a recent Forza Monthly event, which focused on the latest information about Forza Motorsport but also contained a small teaser from PG.
Of course the in-game “Coming Soon” tab has been displaying the name of the series since S21 began last month: Upgrade Heroes, but the Forza Monthly stream also revealed that Donut Media would be returning after its first appearance in Series 14.
If you’re not familiar with Donut Media, it’s a car culture YouTube channel primarily hosted by James Pumphrey and Nolan Sykes. The duo — and other channel hosts — appear in the game through facial capture and audio recordings.
In fact Pumphrey revealed Donut’s presence in FH5 through a podcast last year, commenting that some of the channels star cars — Hi/Low Car, Hi/Low Truck, and the Money Pit machines — would feature in the game, but none appeared in the Series 14 edition.
The Forza Monthly teaser showed that at least one pairing of vehicles will finally arrive in Series 22, with the Hi/Low Nissan 350Zs taking pride of place as the series cover cars. This is a pair of identical Nissan 350Zs which have been tuned with expensive and cheap parts respectively, to see which is best.
We also got to see the first chapter in a new 13-part story centered on Donut Media, which will see players join a Hi or Low crew for the event — although you can switch after you’ve completed the story and play through it again on the other team.
However that was all the preview offered, with the full, in-depth trawl of the Series coming up in today’s stream instead.
The “Let’s Go” stream will begin at 1700 UTC on Monday June 19, ahead of the update itself. Series 22 will then begin at 1430 UTC on Thursday June 22.
