The fourth round of the 2016 FIA World Endurance Championship happened at the Nurburgring this past weekend. Held on the Grand Prix circuit, it was a hard-fought battle between the Porsche and Audi prototypes, with the Stuttgart manufacturer clinching it at the end of 194 laps.
As luck would have it, Porsche was also present in the builds of Assetto Corsa that Kunos Simulazioni brought to the event. The demo featured the brand new, turbo-powered 2016 911 Carrera S running around a shorter version of the track its 919 big brother was competing on. Youtube user Philipp Schalli was able to capture a quick 30-second video of the game, marking what very well could be the first taste we have of the new pack in motion.
The new turbo Carrera is one of the 20 cars set to feature in the 2 Porsche car packs. As the star of the original announcement trailer, it joins previously-unveiled cars such as the 935/78 ‘Moby Dick’ and 1974 Carrera RSR. No hard release date is penciled in yet: all we know is that the packs will be available at some point this autumn, on PC as well as PS4 and XB1. The console versions of Assetto Corsa are set to arrive in one month’s time.

People judging the sound quality by this video are slightly insane.. Will wait for live capture.
I do not see a rev needle. But looks and sounds lovely as all of AC’s content.
Sounds great but looks lazy and heavy in turns, physics must be reviewed in Assetto Corsa, there isn’t control in the middle of the turns, there are only longs slides and witing time to get again the control of the car, not that sharp, clean-edge control that we have in GT6 in grip limits while cornering.
I agree with your POV but maybe the DOR is just set wrong. What also seems to make the car look heavy is that is doesn’t seem to roll to the sides much (if any) to the sides. But also here, maybe the suspension is just set way too hard.
it understeers hence heavy and lazy. Traction control is on which makes it even worse(else he would 100% oversteer) as he wasnt used to it clearly(no one would be with such little time)
Way too early to tell, physics will likely change a lot up until release.
The scg003c changed a bit between the media events and the final release last year.
There wasnt lsides, there was corrective measures due to no or little stability control. The tyre screeching is very overdone by default because it helps for substituting the feeling of grip levels, we cant really(cheaply) replicate the G forces so its a close alternative.
You can lower the tyre volume if you wish of cause.
I agree about tyre volume, it’s overdone in GT series and in AC and IMO it’s a good thing.
I use to play AC with “factory abs” TC OFF and SC OFF, i miss a quick reactivity of physics in AC, in little slides and in big slides, i’m always waiting the car finish his slide to take control of it … That’s the point GT6 is quicker and give you the power of a greater control of the car and of the driving line.
My experience with AC is the complete opposite of yours. I’ve never felt more in control of a virtual car than I do in AC. Not every car has a quick reactivity and that’s the whole point of creating accurate physics, so cars can and do respond the way they should. You don’t expect a modern supercar to perform the way supercars did in the 80’s do you? You don’t expect a rear engined Porsche to feel the same as a mid-engined Ferrari to feel the same as a front engined GT-R do you? Personal opinions may vary however. And tire volume is not “overdone” in Assetto Corsa because it’s completely adjustable, both in volume and the point at which the tire sounds take effect.
I don’t thin that a Ferrari 458 Italia brakes and drives through the corners like a 12 tons truck, like it does in AC.
A Ferrari 458 Italia is a flying car, an hypercar, you should feel a lot of stability and quick responses and not 5 slides in slow motion into every corner that you have to wait their ends to take again the control of the car…
having driven a 458 with vigor around brands hatch(10 laps if i remember correctly) i can tell you that it does precisely what you think it doesnt in this case. I think you overestimate the amount of grip that semis or street tyres provide.
There isnt really much question about it, AC nails the hell out of its street cars, everyone including the haters agree with that statement. Granturismo has taught you wrongly and you have come to expect things that cars simply cant provide
The delayed and slow response after any “programmed” slide is like real 458 too ?
The feel of stopping a heavier car too ? That go to right and left while braking even with abs and even in not hard braking ?
I’m not a AC hater, i love its graphics and sounds, some great force feed back sensations too. I only miss a better sensation of speed and precise control in braking and cornering (not a simple or an easier one). I use a T500RS wheel.
Either you are misunderstanding the FFB and physics or there is something wrong with your wheel and/or pc because the exact things you say you are missing in AC are the exact things that people rave and rave about the game. Precision, control, accuracy, detail etc. I think you are mistaking ease of control at the limit with “sharp, clean-edge control”.
It’s not about FFB, it feels great and detailled in AC, it’s about Physics and the way they transmit heavyness and slow reactions in driving through the corners.
There is no problem with my wheel, i can drive and control the car with no aids, and control the slides, but i have to wait the end of programmed slides to have again the sensation of control of the car, tyres seems heavys and under-inflated, cars feel heavier, lazys and slow. My frame-rate is about 120 fps, the wheel works fine too.
Some people have said AC is perfect, i don’t think so, and neither lot of people, there are fans, haters and others…
I like a lot AC but i’d like a improvement of their physics reactions and a quicker-sharp control.
Sounds and looks good. Can’t wait to get my hands on this and the other Porsches and row through the gears with it
