Many gamers like me look beyond the glittering lights of the Premium 500-600bhp plus supercars and trawl the backwaters of the many Standards to find diamonds in the rough.
Take the VW 'New Beetle'. A MkIV Golf in a curvy retro-look frock. You have the potent RSi version already, but what about the cutesy cooking model? Admittedly on paper it's uninspiring: FF drivetrain, and VW's aged SOHC 8v 2.0 engine making a paltry 115bhp stock.
Turbos take it to 339 bhp plus, which is fine and dandy. But after various struggles with understeer, lift-off oversteer, wheelspin, I went back to basics and decided to keep aspiration natural. This is what happens when you take the mind of a DC2 Honda Integra Type R and mate it with the cute and innocent New Beetle. In other words, I merely took the settings of a stock '99 Integra Type R and used them on the Beetle to see what would happen.
This car now revs to 8000rpm and laps up sweeping bends. This has mostly eradicated understeer. Cornering speed pretty quick. On Sports Soft tyres it can beat cars with a much higher PP value. Best time at Tsukuba is 1:02. And. It will beat the Tuner Car Cup at Apricot Hill (thus far), with a best lap time of 1:34.
You don't have to spray it Championship White and fit white multispokes but it will add to the image. Also, keep the standard wheel size as smaller wheels mean better cornering.

- Set max speed first. Then gear ratios. Then Final Drive. IMPORTANT: The Integra only has five standard so sixth is that, and I adjusted fifth accordingly using the chart. Only entered the value to match the format.
