Just getting up to that point now. . . I am happy I did not go sniper happy at one point near a dock : )

I must say I am finding this game truly great. The FMV really got me hooked during the virtous mission. The game so far is put together rather well, but I am waiting for the twists to come into effect. I know there has to be one or two, but it has been pretty linear so far.

i bought the game last night with the special edition strat guide (I wanted the artbook). I'll have to avoid this thread. Too many damn spoilers :irked:

Here is the list of music stations you can use on your codec.

# 140.01 - Salty Catfish / 66 Boys
# 140.52 - Rock Me Baby / 66 Boys
# 141.24 - Sea Breeze / Sergei Mantis
# 142.94 - Pillow Talk / Starry.K
# 144.06 - Jumpin' Johnny / Chunk Raspberry
# 147.08 - Surfing Guitar / 66 Boys
# 147.59 - Sailor / Starry.K
# 149.53 - Don't Be Afraid / Rika Muranaka

I fought The Boss for more than 10 minutes and got a different ending. Give it a try.

Get all the best times in the Snake vs. Monkey and you'll get the Banana Uniform. Beat the game once, and unlock two more levels. Beat the two extra levels and get the Monkey Mask.

Kill The End in just 10 secnds by shooting him at the warehouse where you first see him in his wheelchair being pushed by a guard. Shoot the guard, then shoot The End. He'll quickly scoot away, so make sure to shoot him in the head several times quickly. He'll say, "This, is The End." Then, he'll blow up. During the level you would normaly fight him is filled with Ocelot's soldiers.

However, if you want the Mosin Nagant tranq Sniper Rifle, you'll need to kill him with the tranq pistol only. Then, look for the rifle somewhere down below where you start after he dies.

# 149.53 - Don't Be Afraid / Rika Muranaka

I found that one last week, I really like the song, very soothing.

Argh! I could have killed The End way back at the facility? Blah! I did notice that they just left him sitting out in the rain, but when I zoomed in with the sniper rifle, I couldn't find him.

is the special edition one the one with the white spine and top?

cuz i have that one...and it says signature series in the top left corner. and it came with the cobra unit fold out.

nevermind. i looked at bradygames.com.

im gonna have to go back and get the LE one now. <_<. i love the mgs art.

You finish a game that's not even released in my country yet. Us Europeans might aswell be forgoten about altogether. Or is it time to move to the States, to catch up with the real world.

If you love MGS1 and 2, you'll love this. I beat it in less than a day on the day I got it xD. Just couldn't put the controller down.....

now im playing again..ive killed all the boss up to the fury with a tranq xD

If you like MGS1 or 2, you'll probably be less accustomed to the gameplay of 3. Simply because there isn't a radar. You'll have to use your human senses to find the enemy.

Same here. I'm half way finished with my third run. I'm concentrating on killing The End over, and over again in just 10 seconds. Hey, I think it's that funny.

I have all the boss uniforms, and by far the Moss Uniform you get from The End is the best one you can get. I highly recommend that you get it. I use it a lot. However, I'm sure The Boss' Snake Uniform is ok, but I don't really need it. So many other uniforms do the job better in certain situations. The Fury's uniform is pretty useless, too. It's only good for fighting him. Volgin's is usefull at the end when you don't want to kill all those guards shooting at you on their bikes, and stuff. The Sneaking suit is great for boss battles, because it cuts the damage in half, but it's not really Boss Uniform. The Spirit Uniform is awesome, though. You can sneak up on The End beautifully with it. It covers up your footstep noise, and you can decrease boss stamina by choking the boss with it on. I still don't have The Fear's uniform. It's the stealth uniform you get when you shoot all the Kerotan's in the game. I might do it this time around. We'll see.

Has anyone complete MGS3 yet? I have I did it last night and I must say I am well satisfied with this one more then MGS2 which left me a little dissapointed.

spectaculer game 👍

I got some more secrets for you.

Another way to defeat The End: Save the game right before the battle, then, head into the PS2's settings and set the internal clock one week forward. Now load up the game. The End has died. A cinema will commence once the game is loaded. God, Kojima is nuts.

When The Boss' horse comes up after you kill her, hold R1 to see something cool.

After the Ocelot boss fight and you're in the caves call up EVA and she'll reveal some very interesting information on Ocelot. Here is the transcript of the call originally from a member of the Gamespot forums:

Jack: EVA, I wanted to ask you about Ocelot…
EVA: Yeah, I know. He’s pretty infatuated with you, isn’t he?
Jack: That’s not what I meant. Aren’t the Ocelots an elite unit?
EVA: Yeah.
Jack: So how’d he get to be their commander? He can’t be any older than 18 or 19. I can’t believe he’s already a major…
EVA: I heard from the Colonel that he’s been given…special treatment.
Jack: Special treatment?
EVA: Yeah. He’s the son of some legendary hero or something.
Jack: No wonder he seems to have the right stuff… So who is this legendary hero, anyway?
EVA: Beats me.
Jack: …
EVA: The Colonel never told me. All I heard was that his mother was supposedly shot in the gut during battle and that he was born right there, with bullets whizzing past them.
Jack: A pregnant woman in the middle of a battle?
EVA: That’s what I heard. They say that when they stitched her up, the scar was shaped like a snake.
Jack: Well, that’s battlefield medicine for you. What about his father, this legendary hero?
EVA: He didn’t tell me. I don’t think Ocelot’s ever met his parents.
Jack: Are they dead?
EVA: Maybe, I don’t know. There were a lot of MIAs back then, during the last days of the war. Ocelot probably would have ended up the same way. But he was taken in and raised by GRU and Volgin.
Jack: Because he was special?
EVA: That’s my guess.

It ends all discussion on whether The Boss and The Sorrow are Ocelot's parents.

You can hold R1 while saluting The Boss' grave at the end. No one has seen anything yet but apparently you can see the tear in Snake's eye.

During the Operation: Snake Eater cutscene, when you have a chance to look around using R1 during the movie of Snake inside the cockpit look up.

During the Virtuous Mission ending cutscene, as soon as the R1 possibility comes up after Snake heals himself with the cure system, look over to your left as quickly as possible to see something interesting.

For some humor, get in a box and call Sigint.

When fighting The Boss, look near the three logs on the ground to find 3 white snakes: Solid, Liquid, and Solidus. Each one will fill your stamina entirely.

Let EVA loose all of her stamina and knock her out. Her hair will turn brown.

During the ending cutscene, while Snake is saluting the President, hold R1 and look to the left, just over the President's shoulder, to see Ocelot standing out side the window.

During the Volgin boss battle, you can see Ocelot above walking back and fourth. If you shoot him, Ocelot's health/stamina bar will show up, as well as the number of bullets he has in his Revolver. If you shoot him until his health bar goes to the end, you get a "Ocelot is Dead" screen.

Eating spatsas make you fall asleep.

yep.

kojima is a SUPERGENIUS. i wrote an entire essay on mgs2...like an entire author study, but on mgs2. i got an A+ on it too. lol.

i seriously want to meet mr. kojima before i die. i would probably pass out though.

Snake can pee! Ha ha! I figured how to use the glow mushroom against Volgin. Read on!

EDIT: I think Snake peeing is just a hoax. I can't seem to get him to do it. There might be something else to it, because it came from a pretty reliable website. I'll report later.

Hitting Volgin with a Russian Glowcap Mushroom, while you have it equipped (punch with it, dont throw) it will absorb his electricity and he will be unable to use it for a while.

Urinating on Volgin will do the same thing. In order to make Snake Urinate, Spin Snake around in the survival viewer, and eat something poisonous, like the Fly Agaric Mushroom found in the area where you meet Eva behind the waterfall. Instead of Vomiting, Snake will urinate instead.

Urinating on Eva while escorting her is supposed to get a funny reaction.

Use fake death pill in front of Eva

In Graniny Gorky South, the trapped area where you fight The Fear, a tree near the north exit has a spiked log with an impaled scientist who apparently tried to escape.

If you kill Raikov, you will see a naked Raikov running down the river during the walk with Sorrow.

Taking pictures of dead bosses during the Sorrow walkwill reveal developer faces in the background. Dont forget to snap the photo of the Sorrow floating above his corpse, this is supposed to reveal Hideo Kojima.

In groznyj grad northeast, climb into the back of a truck and equip BOX B, and you will be driven directly to the Shagohod Hangar.

If you dont remove arrows, they will remain stuck in you for the entire game. They dont show up in cutscenes however, but still funny.

Destroying armories with TNT will cause soldiers to run out of ammo quickly, and run away.

Destroying provision houses with Rations inside will make soldiers in the area physically weaker, taking only one combo or 3 chokes to knock them out. Tranq darts have faster effect on all body parts as well.

Hold R1 after Volgin is hit by lightning, and you will see the Sorrow. Perhaps he brought the storm, like before Boss threw Jack over the bridge?

Free shot on the Boss in the final battle by equipping the monkey mask.

In the Virtuous Mission, throw a snake into the Northeast window, and Sokolov will shriek "Get Off Me!!"

At the end scene with Ocelot, choose the left gun, but DONT FIRE. This will trigger a fourth alternate scene. Aiming off to the side and firing reveals a differnt ending as well.

When disguised as Raikov in the officer's uniform, punch guards and scientists for funny reactions. Also, equip a box, and when you are discovered by a guard, he will apologize.

Equip the croc cap and call Major Zero

In the Virtuous Mission, equip the Raikov mask outside Sokolovs room, and attempt to enter. Call Major Tom for extra dialogue.

Choose "I like MGS 2" when starting a new game, and after Jack removes the mask, put the mask back on and call Major Tom.

Call Sigint after playing "Snakes Nightmare"

With the SAA equipped, push the right analog stick to twirl your gun while fighting Ocelot. He will be impressed, and juggle his guns.

Shoot at mountains off in the distance with the SAA to see the bullets ricocheting off into to the sky. Works great at night. Try it at the Warehouse, where you first see The End.

Find a Russian Glowcap Mushroom, and call Paramedic. Eat the mushroom, and call Para medic again.

If you destroy the Hind Choppers at the helipads, when you get to the mountain pass, there wont be any choppers, instead men on the hoverjets will take their place.

Oh, I'm having problems with WMV 10. After I download a video, and I store it on my computer, the movie will play fine for the first time. But, any more views later and I'll have problems with the playback video speed. Audio is just fine. The video will run in a strobe like effect, and sometimes a lot more slowly than the audio. Any of you got a clue how to fix this? I did a system restore, but that didn't work. This problem started after an automatic download of some sorts.

That's got to be one of the funniest things I've seen yet.

Well, in the spirits of sequels, are they ever going to give MGS2 a more proper ending or are we all just going to gripe about that forever? (Not to say that it was bad enough to hate the game--I love that game. Maybe MGS4 could tie up a few loose ends or so if there is one, that's all.) I'm happy enough with it now though.

To be honest, I don't think Kojima is going to do one damn thing to the story in MGS2. I think it's a perfect example of, "Forgive and FORGET!"

*Shakes fist* Damn you people, i have to wait till tuesday before i can play it... :)

Mum went on a holiday to Malaysia, so i asked her to find me a copy 👍

I heard from a mate that the PAL version when it released, will have like extra features.

It will have more camoflauge uniforms and masks, I think. We could download them from the website, but you get to unlock them during the game. It sucks, but what are you going to do. Well, you don't have to do jack since you guys are getting the game with all the goodies in it.

Oh, for anyone reading this who hasn't played a single game yet, here are some tips you MUST follow when playing the game for the first time.

THINGS TO ACCOMPLISH WHEN PLAYING MGS3 FOR THE FIRST TIME

1. Search and shoot all the Kerotan (green, plastic frogs) in each level. There is a total of 64. Make sure you move left or right of areas on the map to find new areas to move into and then search for the Kerotan. Many people miss the Armory just before fighting The End. Go north east, and you'll see it. Try to remember, EVERY level has one. Even the the levels during the bike chase. Shooting all the Kerotan will earn you the Stealth Suit, which is NOT a uniform. Using the "Duck" uniform you find at the big swamp during the Snake Eater mission, you can hear the Kerotan calling out to you. You'll need to press the start button first, then go back to the level to hear the call.

2. Go for 0 Alerts, 0 Kills and 0 Continues. If going for all the Kerotan is too hard, which it is in my book, then make sure you perform this instead. Reward is of course the Stealth Suit. The tranq pistol must be used on everyone, and that includes the bosses. It's easier than it sounds, but The Fear will be difficult. Remember to leave posinous food around so he'll eat that during the fight. I finished him off with only one shot and a bunch of poisonous food like the Dart Frog, Fly Argic mushroom which can be found on that level. Actually, you'll go through this level twice. It's at night the first time through, and there will be a lot of Dart Frogs around. Make sure to get rid of most of your food and collect as many poisonous items as you can. What's great about this is you can save as much as you want. So, save at every level, if you want. I recommend doing that.

3. Catch a Tsuchinko (?) snake. Use a rat trap at the same area you fight The Fear. A brown turd-like snake will get captured after doing it a while. Keep it alive, and NEVER eat it. You'll get a reward of Infinity Face Paint. You'll lose it when you get captured, but you can get it back by looking on the ground at the waterfall area where you meat with Eva. Actually, you must get your backpack back first after meeting with Eva, then go back outside the waterfall to look for it. Do the same for The End's parrot, but not at the same time. Just remember to tranq it when recapturing it. It's no good if it's dead.

4. Capture all the animals and plants you can. There is a lot of different animals in the game. Too many to list here. But, if you look out for every animal you see, and hear, capture it or kill it along with all the plants and food items like fruit, bees nest, vine melon, etc. You'll get the brown and the green face paint. I don't know how this works, because I have yet to do it myself. But, people say it's possible. Remember, you'll need The End's parrot and the turd snake.

5. When fighting The End, sneak up to him and "hold him up" to get his Moss Uniform. Aim at his head and never move from that position until he gives up his camo to you. Equip it at once, and use it to crawl around and he'll never spot you. You'll have a 100% camo rating. The suit also replenishes your stamina when you stand in sunlight, and it lets you get the Mosin Nagant tranq sniper rifle after you defeat him with the tranq pistol only. Remember, no kills. You'll have to look around for the tranq sniper rifle after beating him. It will be on the ground somewhere where you start after beating him. The tranq rifle will make the rest of the game a lot easier for you. Remember, missed shots counts as alerts if you miss. With this rifle, you'll eliminate that from happening.

6. Select the pistol on the right during the WIG/Ocelot pistol fight. Never aim or shoot at him. He'll give you the SAA pistol for your next game. The pistol is awesome!

I love the game to death. I could also live with the ending. It just seemed like an open ending that was hinting for a sequel. If there isn't anything coming, then that's still fine. I still play it anyway. And MGS3 is enough to quench the thirst for that sequel.

Just got my import (US) MGS3!:D Surprised it worked with my swap magic/slide card!
It is good...although I've only played for around 3 hours. Getting used to the subtle differences with MGS2.

I got the copy of MGS3 about 4 days ago :P must say i am very impressed with the game soo far... I liked the intro and the way it starts off.

I was wondering if you get more supplies of bandages and the other various cure related objects? Not that i have am in need of them, but just curious thats all.

Yes, there are plants, animal and fruits that turn into medicine. Plants that turn into medicine can be found with the thermal googles. They'll either turn into syptics, splints, cold medicine, syrum, ointment and other medical aids. Food, like rabbits, hornets nests and false mangos can also turn into medicine as well as food. Then, you can find medicine from guards to just plain lying around. Check planters located in buildings for medicine plants.
