spoon race car

Well, I did what upgrades remained for my svt, put on some softer tires and tweaked the settings a bit... finally won the last race of the AM stars and stripes. For some reason I had it mixed up that the prize would be the camaro race car, but as I see from the faq, it is the spoon.

It corners well, but has no speed out of the box, especially from a start. What would be the best thing to improve the power of the spoon?

ADDED THOUGHT: At this point, I'm not sure how anything I currently have is going to unseat my stanger.. at 716 HP and a nice little tweak from gtvault, its a PIG! I had no trouble at all with the black cobra in the last S and S race.

When you complete 50% of the game you'll get a 787B (or is it 75% ?).
Then you'll forget any other car you've had before.

It's 75%. I think you get the Corvette race car for %50. But yeah the 787B is the best non F1 car in the game IMO.

I gotta loooong way to go for that. I'm somewhere around 20% as I have not done the enduros or most of the am league yet. Guess I need to do some more arcade as well.

The Spoon S2000 Race Car isn't about speed - it's the best handling car in the game bar none, and a very, very rewarding drive.

Maybe I will jack it up a bit and play with it a bit.

I have won it but I haven't driven it yet. I might have to give it a test drive tonight.

14 cars in my garage right now, half of them have 0 miles. :)

In my test drive, the power was not great but basically I noticed that you pretty much don't need brakes (at least not very often) unless you want to slide..

I just upgraded it as far as it seems to go.. entered the AM FR and it was not able to keep up, even tho I ran a very nice controlled line pretty much as fast as I could go.

You're right. You get a Corvette C5R for 50%. Nothing worth reminding, huge yellow piece o'sh** that keeps on spinning around while you desperately try to keep the front end pointing to the front.

Arcade would count for about 25% (there is the exact percentage in some other thread but I'm too lazy to search, you would do it if you ever want to know). Li'l trick BTW for the arcade mode : turn ASM and TCD off, take the 207 hp Altezza from C series and race in 'Difficult' mode. That will be easily won and 'easy' and 'normal' modes will automatically be validated when you succeed. ;)
...you'll only have the Time Trial stuff which might take you a while.

Are you forgetting the GT-one Race Car and the R390 Race car?

I agree, this thing handles better than almost anything else.

What it lacks in power, it more than makes up for in grip.
On Super-Soft tyres, this thing grips like it ate Velcro for breakfast, SuperGlue for lunch, and Spiderman for dinner! :D

The problem with the Spoon is not the car itself; it's the races PD put together. The Spoon S2000 is a lovely drive it's true - but it has no home in the game. For most races, PD always trots out the big JGTC guns. No matter how much momentum you keep through the corners, you just can't compete against an NSX with 200 more horsepower than you have. So you can use the Spoon to trounce street cars, or you can get trounced by the GT500 cars... nothing in between.

That's why I've never bothered doing much with it. it's a pleasure to drive but sadly it has no place in my championship winning rosta. Cool paint job tho 👍

i've been trying to win any of the amateur league IB license required championships with the spoon s2000 racecar to no avail (the GT World, German Touring, Gran Turismo Allstars, and the All Japanese Championship).

To all those good racers out there, is this even possible? or should i give up? the german touring championship is the closest i can come to winning, however, since it is only 3 laps i didn't have enough time to catch up.

If anyone can do this with the Spoon S2000 Race Car, please post. it would give me motivation if i knew that this can be done. Mod the s2000 race car anyway you want, and if you could post your lap times that would be helpful too. i'm not the greatest racer, as i'm more of a collector in that i care more about winning cars then executing the most perfect racing lines, but i consider myself decent, as i have golded the IB license. thanks for listening =)

just confirmed that you can win the amateur GT World and German Touring Championships with Spoon s2000 Race Car :)

THE SPOON RACE CAR!!! man this car is amazing. i thought it sucked because its so underpowered in lemans and JGTC500 races (basically any amateur or pro championships), but i just ran a great race.

It was in Professional FR Deep Forest II. I drove the car fully tuned (which is only 355 hp), and Super Slick tires. I tried it the first time on Medium, but i ended up losing by 14 secs because i couldn't turn as well and lost 5 secs per lap (i was averaging 1.24's) after tires turned red =(. The main and only competition in this race is the TVR tuscan, which will literally burn you on the straight. I eventually over took it late on the 4th lap because i took turns so fast. The spoon s2000 race car has incredible braking distance and grip. i won by about 6 seconds, but i was running pretty nice laps, 1.18.767 as my best and averaging mid 1.19's from lap 4 on.

I dare/challenge anyone to give it a try. it won't dissapoint. the TVR looks so menacing (as it is beautiful) in your rearview! and you better not slip up, the TVR gains on you quick if you don't run clean.

also just confirmed you can win Amateur League GT World and German Touring Championships with the spoon s2000 race car :sly:

I like the S2000's ALL OF THEM!!! I haven't won the spoon race car before but I'm gonna win it, as I said I love the other S2000's, the stock one tuned to about 350hp or so AND........the S2000 race car LM...............that's my favorite above my favorite S2000's group, it's just sweet in black/orange, JUST AWSOME:sly::sly::sly::D:D:D:D:D:tup:👍:):):):)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the GT300 cars fit the Spoon race car nicely, like the Autobacs MR2, West Razo S15 Silvia and so on....oh, try racing the Spoon Race Car in GT4 Prologue and the other cars are WRC cars, VERY challenging and rewarding !! Highly recommended 👍👍

One of the most fun series I've done was the last one in beginner league in the Spoon S2000 race car. I can't remember the title of the series at the moment, but it's full of rally cars, which have way more acceleration than the Spoon. I ran it either stock or lightly tuned .. can't remember :)

:D

I've done a bunch of testing with the S2000s of the game.
Mugen, spoon road & race, normal. :P (barely any LM :( )

My test show that the spoon race can fit into races on a spec level quite well.
Actual race testing was inconclusive regarding the spoon's overall ability to win.

However,
Under full modification the spoon race car can be one of the best race cars.
It has fully adjustable downforce and a PWR nearly perfect for the GT300 race concept.
355 max HP
1055? KG weight
👍

The spoon race just has the problem of being "too realistic" in a tuning sense.
The max tune is 355
With that much down force?!

Why would PD want to under power the car?
Make it a driver's car? ;)

:P
Later. :D

The spoon hauls very serious booty. I was racing it today and man can it fly around corners. its like a mini F1. So fun to drive.
