Kenny's Muscle Car Competition Week 4

This week's theme is drag racing.

I want you to show me your best drag racer ripping it up at the dragstrip. After all, isn't the essence, the purpose of the muscle car to be at the drag strip?

The ONLY eligible 'track' for this is Las Vegas.

However, for this week you *may* add in other cars. Obviously, only 2 drag cars in one shot. If from the jump theme you have pics of your car doing a wheelie or burning out or something, you may put that into your shot at Las Vegas. If you do, pay attention to the shadows and lighting sources. There are not two suns. You don't have to stay true to the original for this, but as always you don't HAVE to use photoshop. You may edit the color of the car and add sponsors, bigger engines, etc. However anything you do in Photoshop you must specify below your picture. Don't try to pass off a chameleon paint scheme as 'real.' You won't automatically win just because you spent 50 hours adding in each decal. Also, I don't want to see silly crap like 80 inch tires. I want it to look realistic. So if you add bigger tires, but I can tell that you didn't blend it in right, you have no chance at all.

The other car in the left lane, if you add one, doesn't have to be a muscle car. For example you can show your old school Camaro wiping the dust off a ricer, if that's what you want to do. The muscle car has to win though :sly:

....and go! Just don't redlight

5 entries total per person. This comp will end 3PM on July 9th.

Please upload your entries in large size format, as a thumbnail in imageshack. Remember to take your pictures in super fine mode. Please blur the people in the background if it is a close-up, we all know they look horrible.

Thanks. I'm starting to think that I need another muscle car (aside from my newer Camaros, my GNX and my SVT Cobra R, that Chevelle is my only one). It would probably add a little more variety. I'm thinking the 440 'Cuda or the '69 Z/28. What do you think?

One of my favorite locations to shoot....its hard to get creative shots on the track because the cars going straight for the most part.

And seeing as I grew up at the dragstrip....I think I have some ideas. I just hope I can translate them to the shot :yuck:

Is there any other outcome for a muscle car racing a ricer? Of course the muscle car will win! :D
Yeah that's why I went to the track last week and outran a '01 GT, '76 Camaro, and an '03 Cobra? I love how people classify every import as a "ricer".

But I'm not posting to get into the import/domestic arguement, just thought I would give it a try this week...good theme, and good luck to everyone.

Thank you for being mature. With that said if you heavily tune a car from either side you can get it to whoop @$$ on just about anything out there, so it depends really how much you want to spend. I prefer V8's though :dopey:

Toronado, I suggest them all!

I took 2 shots and put them together in Photoshop. I also adjusted the color a bit to make it look nice

As Kenny's request, I did this Cuda wheelie
I took 2 shots again and made it look like doing wheelie
both photos were taken in LV Drag Strip
smoke, tire mark, extra large drag tires were added in PS
I was thinking to put firwork into background
couldn't find a good one to insert ... shame! :indiff:
as usual, I added some adjustment filters to make it look nice

can i enter a ford gt? i know its not a proper "muscle" car but it looks damn great :D

Those are all very quality shots mymkovski. How much PS work did you do to them?

Thanks!

Pics 1,3-5 I used Contrast/Brightness

Pic 2 I used Contrast/Brightness and a bit of Saturation/Hue to get the colour effect I was looking for.

Final Entry x 5 :P

and the camaro is edited with the streaks in line :)

the camaro one was edited by :

clone stamping the streak so it went inline then with the rest of the body panel so it had a nice line then had to clone stamp the door crack so the streak highlighted it then had to clone stamp over the intakes at the rear as well as brushing them over the streak to give depth then had to brush to make the intakes larger height wise

to get the original picture i made it high contrast so that the highlights would stand out then changed colour balance so it was was a darker red

the others had the levels changed, colour balance and contrast etc
