Me likey. đź‘Ť
Not nearly as much as a Cayman but certainly a great deal. If I would in the market to buy an Audi 2-door, this would be the winner. Further, I expect this will easily handle the Cayman (not cayman S). Should be a very interesting addition to the 2 -door segment. đź‘Ť I expect to see this being compared with Japanese 4wd and european high dollar cars.

Not sure what you mean by pretty well clear, but if the article is correct in with it's (UK) pricing, it will be roughly the same price as the Z4 M Coupe, which in Europe makes 343 DIN hp.

Which, btw, is no longer in production as of last week.

M

[speculation]I was referencing the next Z4 in my post, assuming they make one. It looks like the two cars could end up being quite competitive against each other. Although I don't know much about the current M coupe, let alone the next one, if there is even a next one.[/speculation]

Audi I5 revival? Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god. Can't wait to hear the exhaust note!

+1 I actually said outloud, "oh my ******* god". The family didn't appreciate it. They asked me what's wrong and I just said, "the Germans did it again" and they knew it was car related. :D

yup, sounds good

RS or not that sounds bloody fantsatic!

I'm interested, but unless Audi does with the TT what they did with the A4 (via the RS4), it won't be a winner. Not by a long shot. This is not to say Audi can't makea winner out of this, it's just that they have a long way to go. Of course, I have yet to see any drive of even the TT-S, let alone the TT-RS, and given Audi's recent track record.... Okay. Maybe there's a winner lurking in there somewhere. A twin-turbo inline-5 is hardly a bad place to start. :)

No surprise there, I have been saying for months if not a year now that the TT-RS would have a 2.5 5cylinder engine. Some people thought I was making it up, but my sources came through yet again.

Apparently porsche pulled the plug on the 2.5 5cylinder engine, and the TT-RS could very wel have a 350hp 3.0 supercharged engine. All rumours ofcourse.

Could there be any more inconsistency between these two, 12-hour apart posts?

Oh the engine sounds lovely. :D So like, is this really gonna be like an RS version of the TT? Now please lets hope that there is an RS5 in the future.....

Yup. This is just an RS version of the TT, hence the name TT-RS. :sly: And there are spy shots of the RS5 floating around on the web too, so that's coming. So much for Audi only wanting to make one RS car at a time...

I'm wondering how Audi the car will be though. Will it still have Audi's famously inefficient drivetrains? Will it be a bit of a luxury cruiser or a super fast track car?

I'm not sure how Audi would "pull the plug" on the 2.5L I5, since its actually a VW engine to begin with (used here in North America in our Rabbit/Jetta), but then again, I don't have "sources" at Audi either.

The regular TT and especially the TT-S are supposed to be very good cars, and handle genuinely well - not like the previous TT at all. I wouldn't doubt for a second that the TT-RS will be even better to drive than the RS4. It's relatively lightweight and although it probably won't be as quick as the RS4 it wouldn't surprise me at all if it was more fun. Given how good the current TT is supposed to be your post seems unduly pessimistic!

Because audi would basically change every single bit on that engine to bring it up to date and efficient, and strong enough to cope with the boost and increased engine speeds etc. I think the theory is that there is no point in spending all that money on R&D when possibly only 1 car will use that engine, and when there is already a 3.0 supercharged which audi have developed.

Would audi however consider using a 3.0 supercharged engine in the TT-RS with 350hp, and then also in the S4 with 350hp? I dont think it would fit the marketing, having a TT-RS with the same engine and power as a "lowly" in comparison S4.

All my audi sources will reveal is that the VR5 is dead. I personally hope the TT-RS will have a 2.5 inline 5 twin turbo, a supercharged 3.0 wouldnt be a very good engine for a car that is meant to be the top of the line TT.

My source has now confirmed that there is no chance of it being a 3.0 supercharged engine because it wouldnt fit in the TT. Said all the various car mags that speculate it will are all idiots lol.

there is no links or proof. Its called "my source" for a reason. Obviously take it as a grain of salt!

Why post it then? You'd save a couple keystrokes by just typing "I ..." too.

Is this the same source that said the TT-RS had a good chance of having said 3.0 supercharged that doesn't fit?

no, different one.

The other source was edmunds apparently (and it caught some wind), that threw out there about the 3.0 supercharged.

what, another guy from halfords whispered it to you? linkies, proof..?

As I implied here, with enough guesses, he'll always have enough "sources" to have one of them be right.

WorldCarFans.com has received from a reliable source a copy of a letter from Audi to its German dealers which includes more details of the upcoming Audi TT RS.

The Audi TT RS will feature a new 5 cylinder, 2.5 liter TFSI mated to a 6-speed transmission churning out a remarkable 340 hp and 450 Nm of torque. The new engine will make the TT RS one of the most fuel efficient sportscars around. Audi claims its direct-injection FSI technology will keep consumption under 10 liter/100km while still making the car capable of doing 0-100km in 4.5 seconds.

The exterior will come with front air intakes, 18" aluminium wheels and two twined, oval shaped exhausts pipes at the back. Interior design will be pure RS - with RS insignia on the instrument panel and the onboard computer menu. The cabin remains classic Audi metallic-themed with aluminium air vents against a black dashboard. The TT RS comes with Alcantara/leather sports seats with a distinguishing silver stitching.

The RS version of the TT will also be available as either a coupe or roadster. No details on pricing are available yet.

The accompanying photos are recent spy shots taken of the Audi TT RS at NĂĽrburgring in Germany.

The TT RS is expected to be launched in the third quarter of 2009.

I just read your post. That's pretty funny. As far as I'm concerned, I take forza2.0's "sources" with a grain of salt as he suggested himself.
