Have you ever been on a heated race when you connection failed you?

I was here just now trying to get a race at the new events... more specifically, Daytona Road RWD Expert.

After 3 tries I got a little disapointed... but suddenly I was in a race... it was a 1 on 1 with GTP-FLASH_48...

He was driving a Mustang and me my RX7... with stock settings... just to get a feel for the new event... at first the guy smoked me really hard, I was 4 seconds behind by our second lap.

After that, I don't know if he slow down his pace so I could catch up, or maybe made a few mistakes while I got faster, but I closed in and eventually passed him on the main straight... and lost my position just after, when I stepped a bit on the grass on the braking of corner 1. But again I was just 1.5 second behind... catching up... when DANG... PSN connection falls.

Kinda frustrated now... did this ever happened to you? It's been kinda hard find a worthy clean opponent these times.

And Flash... I presume your GTP means you're from here so, if you're reading this, sorry for abandoning such a great race, not my fault.

I get dropped frequently. It's very annoying. Especially, as you noted, when you actually get a good race going with whomever. Swear-inducing, to say the least...

I've never been dropped. I think you should check your ps3 connection, the're more than enough threats about connection problems with the ps3.
But once things are set up correctly, you should have no problem at all.

Yeah, but I'm stuck at my mom's until her broken arm returns to 100%, so wireless is my only option for the time being.

Never had dropped connections but I have the girlfriend nagging problem frequently. Sony should do something about that with the PS4. Like an anti-nag feature or maybe some knock out gas that shoots out of the front.

I never get any PSN drops now. Maybe once or every two months. It's really that rare to me. Same with GT5P
Before I fix the problem, I was always dropping out PSN.
The thing I did, is to RESET my PlayStation Internet/connection settings and it fix all the drop outs.
Hope it works for you guys.

BUAHAHHAH!!!

Good thing I don't have a GF. I can play my PlayStation or PC all day if I want to without any NAGING! LOL

Haven't been in a heated race, but all morning today it has told me 'failed to connect to host', 'failed to connect to host'. I don't know why, I don't know how many times i've reset the router and ps3, but it still hasn't made a difference.

Have you tried this here?

I know that when I was having a lot of issues, I did the port forwarding settings for my wireless modem that were suggested by the US site, and it has made my connection much more stable, even when using my PAL disk from here in the US.

Thanks, just trying it all out now. I'll have answers soon.

I hac this happen to me a couple of times before. Both times I fixed it by clearing the cache. You can find it in GT5P in the options menu. 👍

Ok thanks, any advice I get helps because not much seems to be working right now.

I had this problem last year. Everytime I entered a race, it kept on disconnecting me and saying constant Failed to connect to host aswell. Now your problem is Failed to connect to host, have you managed to get into atleast 1 race ?

I got into one tonight, but its still very inconsistent.

Right I think I know what your problem is. Your router is timing out when connecting to host or there's a delay in connecting to host. Thats what my problem was last year, but when you can get into a race, do you get disconnected straight away ? Also is it laggy ?

Connections seem to have been crap for everyone lately. Every race I entered tonight got DC'ed after a couple of laps. Lag has been horrible, and I've been reading it all over the forum all week, people talking about failed attempts at races that got DC'ed and failed to connect.

I've run practice races for the last 3 nights, mix of PAL and NTSC. I've had no connection issues whatsoever, and have run with several racers from around the world, Europe, Australia and New Zealand included.

I've had connection issues in the past and have known individual racers I was trying to arrange times with that have had the same. Most of the time, if they are having that many issues, it's a problem on their and and they eventually figure it out. Hopefully you guys will get enough good advice in here to be able to do the same. 👍

I wasn't host in these races, and the other guys got DC'ed as well, every time.

I had problems connecting on certain games, on street fighter2 hd remix only a couple of rooms would show up,also on cod4 same thing w2ould take ages to find a room, also on gt5 sometimes not connecting.

If you want a nat type 1( direct connection to the internet,) on the ps3.
Go to setting up the internet connection on the ps3,a few options in it will ask you how you want to connect( select ppoe) and enter the user name and password your internet provider gave you for your router.
You should have nat type 1.
I havn't had any connection problems on any game since i have done that.

i've had some connection problems the last 2 days of racing online. I was mostly in the Eidger FWD Expert event. Atleast 3-4 of the races got cut-off/dropped after it was started. I notice because i'm racing, and all of a sudden my opponnents start slowing down and veering off course. A minute or so later it says connection to host/server has been lost. I am not on a wireless router, i have a cable directly from my router to the back of the PS3. And also the matchmaking was failing/re-trying a couple of times, but that may just have been because the lack of players. Also fairly laggy at some points. I feel like i'm making my pass and all of a sudden the guy is in front of me, and i'm hitting him. Causing me to stop and wait up out of fairness. Then losing the rest of the pack.

It definately does suck when you are on someones bumper in a close race, and all of a sudden it goes dead. I wish they could speed up the matchmaking process as well. Especially after a lost connection, it almost de-motivates me to try again. I just can't wait for private rooms so we can set-up races. If it crashes atleast all of us can get together again and re-do it. CMON PD private rooms!!!!! :)👍

GTA, Ontario, no connection problems here.

Linksys WRT5g v.6, stock firmware, ports forwarded. Well, gigantic port ranges for the PS3 actually. Preventitive connectivity measures. If I ever read about widespread malicious PS3 exploits I'll forward more specifically.

All of my other games work well online as well.

Sometimes I get disconnected straight away when I get into races, but it's not that laggy. I've tried some things to make it work and it's worked in every race i've entered(2). Thanks for everyone's help.👍

EDIT: Can't connect to races still. I think I know why now. I've got NAT type 3 and for some reason I can't change it to NAT type 2. Would it be because of my router? My router was one of the cheapest you could buy.(belkin)

Sorry for double posting, I just want your opinion. I have NAT type 3 and ADSL internet. At my Grand mother's house I was able to get NAT type 2 with the same router, she has ADSL+2. I'm thinking that the reason I can't get NAT type 2(and can't connect to races) is because my internet is just too slow.

How close to the router is your PS3 at your Grandma's house compared to at home?

Edit: BTW, the best I've always had is NAT Type 3, and I've been connecting OK this last week. Sure lag can be a little......laggy if the host has a dodgy connection, or isn't Australian (Europeans with good connections seem to be OK), but I've been connecting OK lately.

Home it's 80% signal strength, grandma's 100%. That could also make a difference.

I'm NAT2. My speeds are dog-slow, but I can sometimes actually race. It seems to come and go.

Still having problems, I've tried port forwarding, i've tried DMZ. I suppose I should try using an ethernet cable and just bypass the router. That might work.

Sorry for double posting once again.:nervous: I'm now using a wired connection it worked for the first week but today/tonight i've been unable to connect to races. Weird?

I've posted this allready, but here it is again.
Do that and you will have no problems.

I'm hopefully going to find out the PPPoE username and password soon and try that out. I'll list what I've tried.
  • Setting the IP address and DNS manually
  • Tried DMZ
  • Tried Forwarding ports
  • Tried wired connection
  • Tried enabling UPnP
What I haven't tried
  • Faster internet connection(probably won't get that)
  • Different router
  • Putting in a PPPoE username and password
I should be able to try a different router at some point.(borrow someone elses)
