Fair point. Problem for late entrants like me to the tuning game is that all the fun cars have been well tuned (with exceptions of course).

In relation to TCv5 ideas: go for the unlimited to replace N3. I wasn't in the last one, but I followed it and N3, while wuite difficult, was more of a rubik's cube for tuners, or so it seemed. Unlimited has its own challenges, though. What about a classics unlimited eg. pre 70s, +500bhp? Just a suggestion

I'll be away for prob a few more days so my input will be even more sparse than it has been.

Check this out boys and girls,

Unlimited: Any (non-racing) car, Tukuba, S3, go for it.
Vintage: Pre-1980 cars on N3s.
FF: S3.
FWD/AWD: S3.

This seems the perfect mix of power/tuning/wanker categories to me.

Whaddaya reckon?

Swap S3's for R2/R3's with the unlimited category and I think you've got it all. 👍 Guys?

Oh, and you've got FF then FWD/AWD, I assume you mean FF then RWD/AWD together. ;)

Orrite kids, lets get this going. Here's my current proposal:

Vehicles must be production or concept street vehicles (ie., no rally or race cars). Wings are allowed, driver’s aids are not.

There will be four classes:

Unlimited: any car, Tsukuba, R3 tyres, go for it.
Vintage: Pre-1980 cars on N3 tyres.
Front wheel drive: any car on S3 tyres.
Rear wheel/All wheel drive: any car on S3 tyres.

Judging for Unlimited will be based on the speed of the car around the track as assessed by the judges. Tuners should not include their own times

Judging for Vintage should take into account the base-model and the improvement to the car through tuning. To take an extreme example, a poor tune of the Lotus Elise ‘77(?) should be beaten by a great tune of the Fiat 500.

Other categories should be judged as per TCv4, ie., somewhere between the two.

I have taken text from RJ, ideas form mafs and Paulie, and input from Kurei.

Please keep comments concise and to-the-point.

Also, has anyone put their hand up to organise this? I can't do it all but can provide some level of support and will prob do some judging (doubt I have the time to enter a tune).

TCv4 was the first I've been involved in and has expanded my knowledge of GT4 and cars in general beyond belief. I'd therefore be happy to put in a few hours gratis no matter what the format.

Not crazy on the wing idea but I'll let it slide.

Only other issue is change the vintage class to S3 tires. Otherwise that proposal sounds good.

I suggest no wings on the Vintage class this time. Or make it pre-1970 so we CAN'T have wings fitted, GT Auto won't allow us to do it then. ;) But N3's on that class would be perfect as the tyres would more reflect cars of that era.

Pre-1970 would exclude alot of cars from the vintage class. Pre-1980 would be better. Just no wings for vintage, if not all classes.

I suggested S3 tires for the vintage so there might be more competition, given how unpopular the N3 class in TCV4 was.

I believe it was that too, but since it was only the first time it was trialled it could also be us concentrating on our other entries which reduced the N3 entries. ;)

I like the idea. Vintage on S3's seems better to me, meaning they'll be going faster through the corners. :) Now it seems finally something is happening apart from complaining about TCV4..:P

@ adamgp and Vince: I suggested the N3s on vintage because the tuners that go for these categories are more likely to go for style and authenticity over sheer speed.

I forgot to list that Vintage should have no wing for the same reason. I hope you can see that there's a spectrum or axis there going from fast to regular to specialist/enthusiast tuning. TCv4 worked great, but we need to make it different and therefore more applicable to different tuning styles so a greater number of people will feel comfortable with the categories. I felt dreadful as a judge marking down Maf's entries because I felt I had to judge them on criteria that he possibly didn't consider when making the tunes. However, I had to follow the rules as they were written, and therefore had no other option.

I think these categories and judging criteria are broad enough to encourage more entrants, while preserving the 'core' of the comp, that being the two S3, FWD and OTHERWD, categories. Rev-heads will go for Unlimited and enthusiasts will go for Vintage, so based on my judging of the last one, I'd expect a list similar to Unimited=6, FWD=8, OTHERWD=12, Vintage=5.

Also, just to really undermine my argument, you folks should possibly ignore everything I say, as I can't really promise as much involvement in this one. I really doubt my chance to enter a tune, so the participants should have more say than a loudmouth wanker yelling from the sideline.
