That car looks quite generic for a supercar :(

Well, it kinda reminds me of the Saleen S7 or Farbound GTS. Remember this is an extremely compact supercar. Its shorter, narrower and lower than an F430, so it'll be interesting to see what it looks like in the metal. The Mclaren F1 wasn't exactly a shouty car either...

It looks bland, i love how McLaren have played down there boring styling by saying that it will be timeless bla bla. New ferrari poo's all over this.

One could say that an Aston Martin looks bland? Or Ferrari's no longer look beautiful. To each his own. Although I dont find the new Mclaren a 'pretty' car like the new F458 or V12 Vantage, it has certain something. An odd meanness, its actually alot like GT5. It doesn't need to shout about its abilities for everyone to know its going to awesome!

I would rather have McHammer in than McLaren ;)

looks a bit like a lotus evora ripp off

Except a Lotus Evora doesn't have a Bi-turbo V8 with 600bhp, a duel clutch transmission which launches it to 62mph in 3.4 seconds and beyond 200mph. Plus a carbon fibre tub developed directly from Mclaren's F1 know-how providing the safest and stiffest road car structure ever made. Sounding less and less like a Lotus Evora to me...

When the Esprit arrives with its twin-turbo BMW V8, will it be a Mclaren MP4/12C rip off? My point is, they are two entirely different cars, from two entirely different walks of life. The Lotus is a sports car, a very good one, but it competes against cars like the 370Z and BMW 135i, not a £150,000 supercar.

Personally, I dont even think they look alike. The Mclaren is also alot smaller than the Evora, so if anything, when side by side, the Lotus will look like its copying the Mclaren...

He was talking about the design...

I dont know why this thread is still open, no one can answer the question and we have a forum to discuss real life cars.

Guys, you are right, the new McLaren does look very similar to the Evora, and the new 458, and many other modern supercars. But if you read what McLaren have said about the car, is that it was designed to be as aerodynamic as possible creating as little drag as it can, and putting style to the bottom of the list of priorities. So i'm guessing that all of these cars are lookig similar because this is te most efficient shape possible for a mid engined car, so they are very likely to look the sam. Just like all F1 cars look very similar in design, and if one team comes up with a good idea, then it is copied by the other teams because it works well. Get used to it because a lot of supercars in the next few years are going to look the same, until someone comes up with a revolution, which will then be copied by the other manufaturers. lol

You know what it makes me think of? A supercar you see driving around in GTA, without a real identity.

Looks still pretty good in that last pic though.

aha sounds like those modern supercars are heading towards the "porsche syndrom" ;-)

Well I would prefer something that doesn't look like al the others out there. So no new supercar for me then :P

Corrected grammar

Not saying it looks exactly like the Evora but the headlights, the way the rear spoiler is done and general look remind me of the Evora and front end of a Ferrari a little. At the moment it looks like something from the Evora price range or slightly above.

I just hope we get the real Mclaren F1 in GT5.

I don't understand why people are saying this, it's nothing like the Evora in looks or concept. Are you guys blind?

No, its the back of the cars that look similar. (sorry about the small picture but the botom one is the mclaren)

Still don't think they look anything like the same at the back either. Sure, they both have 'bridge' spoilers, but then so does the Porsche 959.

They both have small roofs and wide rears and bridged spoilers but apart from that they dont look identical. They have the same sillowet (correct my spelling if wrong) but if you look at their details they are completely different.

I think it looks like a hybrid of a lotus evora, a 458 and an ascari a10 and maby a little bit like the original.

Was reading about the new McLaren earlier. While it sounds great (Save for that whole not being a 1+2 seater), there was one thing in particular that caught my attention...

"...flat-plane crank, dry sump and can rev up to 8,500 rpm, though 80% of the torque is said to be available from as low as 2,000 rpm..."

Can I get a hoo-ha sergeant?

Discuss the various attributes of the real life car here. Let's keep the GT5 section for GT5 related topics, the question is whether it will be in GT5, although a pointless one as none of us know, discuss the car itself in the link provided.

It wasn't aimed at you personally, but everyone is discussing the cars appearance and such here in the GT5 section when we've had a thread about it which started in February in the motoring section.

For all those who claim McLaren ripped off Ferrari & Lotus, you're wrong.

The P11 first broke news in 2007. Car Magazine was the first source to print most of its news. With that, Car Magazine produced these images as the spy shots of the car's design.

So, note again. These are 2007 shots. The Evora broke news mid 2008. The 458 didn't come known til' what, early 2009?

So, who copied who again?

Pff McLaren, youre just a McLaren fanboy. ;)

Yeah, youre right.
Didnt knew that these pics are from 2007, i just remember some spy shots from a couple of months ago.

The rear looks of the car have massively improved though IMO. From Mazda-MR2-ish rear-lights to... different rear lights! :dopey:

That car looks horrid, i'd much prefer the 458. We don't know if this car will be in, because no one has told us, and no one has seen it. If you want a car to be in the game, post it in the vehicle wishlist, like we are all supposed to do.

Love this car, It reminds me so much of the old mclaren f1 with a modern twist on it. Love how sleek and low profile it is, it just look's like a speed monster.
