Quite an huge step since last year, and I think I could get the 20Mb they announce I have or should have if I had it directly connected to my PC.

This is what happens when you live in rural Australia and have a poor signal and nly one ISP to choose from that has coverage:

Bear in mind the ping test is from a server just over 1000km away, and look at the ping on the speedtest, less than 100km away.

EDIT: It seems to have sped up a bit now. :)

Internet was being slow today, so I thought I'd see exactly how slow it was... :(

And the ping test too... why it chose to test from NZ is odd...

Still faster than mine, 0.12/0.01 d/u. And ping was almost half a second to Sydney.

What does the F* mean?

But you live in a rural area, I'm in a decent-sized town ;)

The F is like a school mark, isn't it? The asterix might be a + or -. Can't wait for the new internet connection, online games suck at the moment :(

Edit: the asterix is referring to the fact that it wasn't able to test the packet loss, therefore being an inaccurate test.

New laptop, with better wireless card and much better results. It's much more reliable, my old one would drop out. I could get better results with a better router than the Sky one, but hey, it does what I need it to. I can on-line game with it no problem, so no point in changing.

In terms of downloading stuff, from the work FTP (so no traffic) I can download at 600kb/sec, compared to about 340kb/sec I got on the old laptop.

Sky Broadband Connect by any chance?

Gah, I have really slloooooooowwww internet. Updating it in 5-6 months. Hopefully GT5 is out before then. :D

Mine is pretty bad like always, at least it is consistent.

My upload is horrible :( 30kbs tops.

Is TPG any good? My Telstra connection has had so many problems, i've been on the phone to them twice already this month about my slow connection. So much for 'Super fast wireless broadband'.

Also from what i've seen, Australia has really crappy internet. XD

Yeah TPG is good but setting it up is difficult, it seems all of the calls go to an Indian call centre and I have huge amounts of trouble understanding them. Once it is up and running it does what it is supposed to with very little downtime, maybe it goes down for a few hours once every couple of months but no biggie. Look into them a bit, ask mates, I'm sure you can work it out.

You are correct on your last statement, Australian internet is RUBBISH. You see those guys above paying 10 of their dollars for unlimited usage on ADSL 2+ internet, you are looking at 80+ AUD (Australian Dollars) for something like that.

What's wrong with that?

What were you downloading through μTorrent, may I ask? ;)
