Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

How do I go about sending friend requests? My name on here is "ThirdrangerBn"

You have to exit GT5 then as Adrenaline says its under the right most option on the PS3 menus.

And I'm curious about your PSN id, but I'll ask about that in private.:)

XDesperado67 - You send the request on PSN, on the far right of the XMB.

I would except PSN hates my connection and keeps disconnecting me at odd intervals, generally when I'm trying to send friend requests or get into online race lobbies or the PS store. Last system update took me 4 hours to download and install because it kept disconnecting me. I can generally stay connected long enough to accept requests and send gifts though with gifts I sometimes have to sign back in three or four times before they actually send.

sins1er: You'll have a few more cars to test after these as I'll be releasing mine soonish as will others I believe.

Edit: Adrenaline, drop it. Please? I'd rather not have you legitimately banned before we're done with the Atenza if you don't mind.

No, I was giving him your PSN ID listed below your name. I see where the mix-up comes in though.

HeHe cool.
Yeah even with 4G now active PSN still gives me grief for using the mobile hotspot on my cell phone as my PS3s link to the internet.

@sin CIVIC is sent.

Back to the topic at hand.

I've driven some of the cars. My favorite, isn't my fastest. I'm buying FF cars from the UCD like a mad man. I'm painting each car a different color. I have taken a photo of each and I still can't find a '94 GPX FTO. This is a good event for me.

Thanks for organizing it and to all the tuners and drivers, thank you too.

Well because of various distractions I wasn't able to finish my testing today.:irked:

Need to get a couple hours sleep though before I go driving for real tonight.

Everyone stay cool and try not to trash the place to bad:lol: partying while I'm passed out over here.

As Harvey Wallbanger always says...
Drive hard and have fun!:cheers::gtpflag:

Check back with you all in couple hours.

Thanks for taking part. This event would be nothing without all involved.

Agreed!! The fastest car isn't my favorite BY FAR!... I bet ten bucks it's the same car.

I just want to say that all this bickering is sucking the life right out of this shootout for me. The only reason I'm here is to have fun in my spare time that is already limited by work, family and other important things like having a life outside of here. If I want to listen to drama queens go at it I'll tivo daytime TV. I find it all to be quite childish and if I aint having a good time it's not worth doing. Either this ends right now or take my name off the list of drivers.

I'd bet the Sunfire is fastest. ;)
I still have my fingers crossed someone deploys a tune for that here. :)

A valid point to be learned from, it may be a reason some people enter these things and then don't participate.

That said, it seems to be over, as of now anything related to it, whether a "thank god that's over" remark or anything of the sort prolongs the grief for those involved, and makes it harder for them to stay quiet. They're already presumably agitated, and will want to respond to this post and defend themselves. (which can bring the whole thing right back up)

I have 2 but never tuned them yet, I just know with a relatively high weight and low power they can turn 8:40's on the ring, with a horrible 4-speed trans.

I'm off to rune two tuned Integra's from raVen and praiano.

I gave one sunfire to "Drewsifer3x " ,i think he will tune it, if not he can pass it, ..????

I remember it was quick but underpowered for GT4. Gonna keep an eye out for one.

I too have been snaggin up a bunch of FF cars.

Wow, it's nice to see others acknowledge how well the Sunfire can drive.

It is absurdly slow for it's power, at least was in GT4, especially when you mod it, I remember it being about stock Integra speed with 300hp in GT4, hopefully that's not the case with GT5, but idk....

Fortunately enough, no mods are present
Maybe not right then but that shouldn't really matter, should it? Besides, the Report button is always present.

While this is mainly directed at a few, I'll shotgun it out to everyone. If you have a problem with another member, your options are as follows:

1) Drop it and never mention it again
2) Repeatedly bring it up in the forums (and look for other things to argue about) until you're banned
3) Take it to PMs and work it out
4) Add them to your Ignore list

Guess which one some of you are careening towards?
Hint: It's not the three short ones.

If you'd like to remain a member here, (re)read the AUP and start playing nice. It's really not as difficult as some of you make it out to be.

That's what I remember. I think it lacked downforce in GT4 too, in GT4 that would crippled it. Might be different in GT5 with the new DF levels being much more moderot.

Acan Civic:
Run 1: 2:03.646
Run 2: 2:03.295
This is another favourite of mine. Not quite sure what happened here, but I only had to limit mine by 89.9% (346bhp) to reach 500pp. Those extra ponies paid off. I love the simplicity of this build. I knew the car was brilliantly quick in a straight line and Acan's gear ratios provide acres of top end speed. They also do a brilliant job of reducing wheel spin on corner exit. I think some adjustment to the Final Gear and the addition of a custom diff to improve acceleration and traction could see this car top the pile

Thanks for the review.

My time at GVS was around 2:05:*** constantly. My knowledge on LSD are limited, so if i installed it i would mess things up.

Onboy did we fail to include Cy somewhere?
Thought we had added him but guess not.

Thanks for the reviews Cy and after the tuner deadline on the 2nd we'll be making sure that all drivers have access to all cars either through sharing or gifting. I've been buying large quantities of FF cars to try and insure said availability.

==SNIP==

CyKosis1979 your now on the list of drivers as a temp. If you wish to be a full driver let us know and I'll insure you get access to whatever information and/or cars you need.

Thank you kindly Sir, I hadn't asked to be on the list, I was a bit loath to commit due to life getting in the way of my precious gaming..!! However, now I'm on the list, I'll happily offer opinions and set some times.

If I'm struggling to find some of the cars, I'll tap you up, ta

Not a problem Sir. I could offer some suggestions for LSD settings, but I'm not sure if that's within the rules  Some very mild settings will get your car under the 2:02.xxx mark :mischievous:

Sorry Jack, don't know why I stopped short of testing your car. I'll get on it as soon as I can. And sorry for the apparent suggestion that your build was lacking info, when blatantly I was being a numptee (see above :indiff:)...

Wow this thing's quick. Just like the other one but with less under-steer and more grip, can't wait to see what I can get out of the second session.not sure if it's the tunes, or the car, seems to be some weird physics going on, I think GT4 physics for this car.
Still fast and very good, back end cant stay planted through double-left following hairpin, losses some time from it, but could definitely get 1:57's.

Basilea - Trial Celica '03
1:59.333
This car is definitely in another league, with more weight and less power it accelerates as quickly, spins the wheels less, and corners quicker. This tune felt a little under-steery at times, a longer second gear would probably prove useful also.
Second run proved slower, third gear just not quite long enough, give this car slump's gears and it might have a chance. Solid tune otherwise though.

Rotary Junkie - Mazda Atenza 25Z '07
1:59.989
The surprise of the competition I guess, I'd had high hopes for it but with everything else panning off I had doubts, especially seeing not all the weight reductions done.
Brake balance is a little low in the front, caused some tail action entering turn 1 a couple times, and lsd accel is to high for maximum grip, but nearly can't spin the tires without trying, so it doesn't hinder it to much, though the outside wheel glows red easily, the over-steer balance of the suspension is fantastic, and the gears are pretty close too, though a quicker third may help some higher speed exits.
If it wasn't for the bb or lsd, either one this would probably get my drivers choice, though it's still possible.
Liked it even more the second time, very nice car to drive, though still a little hairy here and there.
Secondary Drivers Choice. 👍

Praiano63 - Integra Type R '04
2:00.301
A little twitchy for high speed braking, a little under-steery for braking and corner entry, traction out of corners was decent, considering the weight and power. A little prone to high-speed under-steer when on the throttle, especially for the s-turn after turn 1, but all-in-all a pretty capable car.
If possible more front grip, perhaps camber, not sure. It definitely took less effort to get a solid lap for this tune than the Lolvo, but something just didn't feel quite right, it seemed like it should have been much faster than the Lolvo.
I think with more grip out of corners this could pull 1:59's easily.

D3MONIC_Z3RO_ - Integra type R '04
2:00.313
Re-tested this car, the LSD is actually low, and the suspension is what makes it stiff, but if you coax it just right the gearing is excellent and allows this to run much faster than I had anticipated, just keeping constant under-steer in mind. Also pretty forgiving, I ran most every lap consecutively faster than the one before it, until I ran this lap.

Jackthelad - Integra Type R '04
2:00.618
Pretty similar to Praiano's but more under-steer and gears are a bit shorter, a little more wheel spin. I thought it might get it but nothing ever tied together. Pretty much the same second time around here, third's just a little too long to pull from when second's to short, a little to stiff handling.

BraveBear - Integra Tpe R '04
2:01.075
Looks like an AT trans, with a longer second gear this could definitely run with Praiano's. With using third it just can't get enough power down at low enough rpm's, an issue with the Typer-R's. Otherwise felt very nice in and out, still a little under-steery for me.
Second Run: 2:01.075 I kid you not. Third just plainly to long, still can't quite use full throttle with it, but no pull from Integra's at low rpm whatsoever, and it killed this car's time for me.
However, with a DS3 or less throttle control, this third gear is perfect for full-throttle exits, or close to it, so many might gain from it, and all is not lost.

raVer - Integra Type R '04
2:01.085
Third was a little quick, running out about 80mph, with a long throw to fourth stifled the car third worked great for tight turns, but on faster ones it just wasn't long enough, and fourth was to long, otherwise seemed pretty tidy, a looser than factory lsd usually helps too.
Second run gain-less here as well, if you'd taken the time do put just a stock aftermarket set, lost the wing (because the set-up doesn't need it) and tuned the trans more this could be a good run, I guess the short way to say it is the suspension/brakes combo isn't to bad.

VTiRoj - Lolvo C30-500
2:01.332
Interesting how numerous laps on different cars changes the viewpoint... The under-steer didn't feel as bad this time, now being used to FF's and the track, and the corner exit grip is still second to none, full throttle, no wheel-spin, it's quite impressive, despite being significantly slower than the Integra's it proved itself a pretty worthy opponent on a fairly high-speed track.

AssasinTuner - Civic Type R '08
2:01.442
Good all around little car, very nice grip, seemed over-penalized compared to the Integra, more grip than Integra's, just less go. A little to much under-steer, and better gears would make this probably reach 2:00.xxx, LSD seemed to kick in earlier than I wanted a few times. 2nd run felt better, the gears are pretty good compared to others, much better feeling the second time.

Driver2183 (Acan) - Honda Civic Type R '08
2:01.541
Call it a draw in speed for these two 08 Civic's so far, but this one drives better, excellent tune, except the gears. :( second is perfect, but third is to long, with a quicker third, followed by 4th, 5th, and 6th, this may have seen low 2:01's, possibly 2:00's. Otherwise fantastic, my favorite drive yet.👍
Hmm, cursed by the second run, I maintain the gear statement, it makes do with what it has well, but the under-steer is pretty dramatic, and the bb 6/5 isn't helping, I guess I just didn't push quite hard enough the first run.

Drewsifer3X - Eclipse GT '06
2:01.697
I had high hopes for this car, knowing it's grip on exits, and if performed nicely, very drive-able, just not fast enough to run with the Integra's, but a very enjoyable drive, number 1 on my driver's choice so far. 2nd run: Stock transmission? didn't take notice the first run, It's a shame because with basic custom trans settings this might turn 2:00.xxx times.

shmogt - Dodge SRT-4
2:01.883
LSD is to tight, wheel-spin isn't even a big problem on this car so I'm not sure why it's so high, but still yanks out of corners well, the gears were a little quick, a slightly longer third and higher would help, it was exhausted halfway down the straight, might have went high turbo with less other power adders to bring the power up higher, makes gearing and shifting easier, no under steer when it's not spinning the front tires, suspension felt good, what the lsd let me feel of it anyway. A few tweaks and I think we could have an Integra competitor here.
Second run gained nada, I don't agree with much of the tune, but I'm not as convinced in the car itself after this run.

MafiaBoy - Mitsubishi Eclipse GT '06
2:01.953
To much under-steer, lsd was to stiff, which causes the car to break first traction easier, because the grip tire is losing grip first. With a lower diff and shorter third gear or longer second this could be pretty quick.
Second run, still can't get around the diff, combined with under-steer, but the car has potential, enough to pass the Accord with I believe a slower setup.

d24689 - Honda Accord '03
2:02.121
Lots of under-steer, made cornering difficult, gears are way to long, second is good to pull out of corners, but third is to long when second is to short, you want to be in as long a gear possible while still being able to break traction for cornering, and these gears don't let you do that quite. Even with the long second gear, torque is still overwhelming, which is another reason a quicker third would help, but more power can always translate faster, but makes it harder, and makes under-steer worse.
Still managed a respectable time, still time out there on a second run if I can catch it.
Second run, realized the LSD is to loose, the inside's burning up while the outside stays planted. I'd still like a quicker third gear too, otherwise pretty solid, has good levels of grip.

slowGTR - Civic Type R EP '01
2:02.404
494 PP?
Absolutely love this car, and a very drive-able tune, stock gears worked perfectly, maybe a little to soft, and little under-steery as well, but great poise and consistency with this car/tune. Another favorite to consider.
No luck in second run, but still enjoyed the drive, it almost feels factory. Under-steer is more than I'd like, but the way it handles itself great, always composed.
Driver's choice for me. 👍 Just all around thoroughly enjoyable ride.

Cool-dude3007 - Civic Type R '08
2:02.942
20 down-force on the rear? I think that alone ruined the car, just under-steer everywhere, lots of tire grip, but the lack of boost with at least some power limiter, all N/A powerband on a Civic is a nightmare.I know second was to short, third to long, never used sixth gear, these three things proved dominant in the first session, hopefully second session will improve things.
Second run, If the gears were reasonably quick, and the lsd was higher then almost zilch, this could probably manage 2:01's, but the loose lsd is the worst, because it's harder to tell when you're spinning, and you end up breaking the outside loose anyway 6/10/8 I think is what I saw, I'd probably double the initial and accel. Best time of second run was 2:03.339 :grumpy:

xDesperado67 - Citroen C4 '05
2:02.974
It seems so far this is a victim of being yet another low limit car, and I believe this is the one I got mixed up with Z3ro's, with a very tight LSD, which made for good traction without throttle finesse, but doesn't have the grip a gentler touch can achieve with a looser LSD.
I could be wrong, but I'll be surprised to see lower than 2:02.800 out of this, just not enough grip.
Second run, not much to say, the time improved but the car's not up to par with the competition, pretty decent tune, I think a longer second gear would help, and an lsd adjustment, but don't know if the car can break 2:02's with any tune.

Dylans1o - Mitsubishi FTO GPX '94
2:03.406
Very fast, fastest of the group, (so far) but the car itself seems victim of low grip, can't put the power down at all exiting corners, otherwise feels like a very good setup, a good tune on a poor traction car.

C-ZETA - Mistsubishi Mirage Cyborg '97
2:04.339
Well.... It has no traction. None at all, my only guess is some over-steer would help, but all in all this car didn't have a shot in this. Seemed to handle consistently, just slow, very odd given it's low weight of 910kg's.
Second Run, tried everything then traction control, don't know if the tcs helped me any, it usually doesn't, but improved the time a bit. After I finished, I tried a gear ratio mod, and out of every slow corner I would just flat-out dog the ghost, right at the second/third change, with a quicker third this could run 2:03''s, managed a 2:04.1xx on my second still sloppy lap with the new gears.
