Wallbanger's 1st annual million credit FF Summer Shootout!(6/19/11 final 7/17/11)

Jackthalad’s Integra Type R-
I have high expectations for this. Given that this car had been tuned with some advice from Leonidae, one of the most experienced tuners on GTP, I would expect it to drive with a hint of the fin’s madness weaved into its DNA. And it has, actually. The back is very loose on entry, if you’re aggressive enough, you could get it to pull slides that’ll worry a few rear-wheel drive drifters. It’s there to help you get around the corner, as is the handbrake :D Yank the handbrake while turning = forcing the back out = big fun. It’s still a FF at heart though, it may slide into a turn, but it will mostly be neutral on exit, maybe understeering slightly if you don’t knock it up a gear to stop it wheelspinning into the grass. I quite like it. It’s got a puppy dog enthusiasm to it. You corner with a big grin on your face and with the car’s tail out. It’s a car which’ll cheer you up no matter how miserable the day. On this example, I’m suffering from a terrible headache, and despite having a head-on crash with the wall for 5 minutes, I didn’t just quit and sleep like I should have done. I just pulled it out of the sandtrap, and kept on going. It was that good to drive. I went on for the best part of 15 laps, and not once, did I beat the time set by -raVer-’s car. I blame my holiday for that. A 2:05.736 was the best I could do. I have to say though, I prefer Jackthalad’s car more. It’s more alive, but it’s also slower. So, your choice. Go slower have more fun, or faster, but in for a dull drive.

Lap time-Grand Valley Speedway
2:05.736

Please don't tell me you were using the e-brake, were you?
That holiday must've done something to your head lol

I'm confused by that whole review, between the over-steer he felt, and running slower than raVer's.

Thanks, it works on my computer but not my mobile app. I should have known because my phone doesn't recognize alot of the links. Is it just the app I wonder or are their some settings that I need to change ?

Tap the post, it will open the post then the links will work.

Summer Shootout test results :

All cars given two warm-up laps then three race laps. I used DS3 sensitivity @0 ABS 1 all other aids off. Laps were driven using 2 tires on track and 2 tires allowed on curbing.
I decided on this criteria in the beginning and having to adjust to each car quickly means I couldn't just zero in on a tune that was better suited to my driving style. While five laps is not enough to get my best times I feel they are very consistent and I'm not the fastest driver anyway so I didn't see the need to chase after quick lap times. I also chose to use auto trans. for consistency and some of the cars could have really used manual but I didn't want to manipulate the handling by using it.
I realize that all tunes were designed and submitted with the one goal of being the fastest car @GVS so any comments I have are based on their driveability which may or may not have been sacrificed for overall speed. I enjoyed taking part in this competition and feel that all the tuners did a great job. I now have a garage full of very fast FFs.:)

Heres my results
Enjoy, AC

Basilea's: TRIAL Celica 2:00.463
Good simple tune that works very well. I prefer the brake settings the other way around though.

Dr. Slump: Trial Celica 2:01.179
Hardest tune to drive as overall handling seems to have been sacrificed in an effort to eliminate understeer.
Very twitchy. Would need more laps to get the most out of it but very fast overall

Praiano63: Integra 2:01.688
One of the first tunes submitted and despite being the target to beat remains one of the fastest. A little understeery at high speed turns and spins up the tires on slower turn exits.
Great overall gearing and an ability to turn-in under heavy braking which no doubt is a key part of its overall speed. This one leaps forward with very
good acceleration.

Zero Speed: Integra 2:02.004
My favorite Integra to drive. Good overall cornering and handling.
Lacks grip for acceleration out of corners but this is a problem for most of the cars. Not quite as fast as Praianos but very close.

RJ'S Mazda Atenza: 2:02.329
Very fast Saloon. Easiest car to drive here but lacks some of the excitement of other platforms. This one really could have used a manual gearbox as second gear was very tall. It got driven with auto though as part of my testing criteria. Overall a job well done thats sure to be a favorite for many.

Jackthalad: Integra 2:02.946
Another fast Integra that was easy to drive. Good overall handling and composure although a little loose and will slide the rearend when coaxed into it.
Lacks grip for acceleration out of corners but this is a problem for most of the cars.

Acans Civic '08: 2:03.221
Fastest Civic here for me and I also like this chassis as it is fun to drive and toss around.
Good simple overall tune but lacks grip out of corners.
Would like to see the LSD set-up and more time spent dialing in the suspension but still a very fast Civic.

Brave Bear Integra: 2:03.531
I would need more laps to get the most out of this one. Probably just my style but it felt like I had to keep my lines very tight or I lost time.
Third gear was also a little tall.

Drewsifer Eclipse: 2:03.548
Good chassis and powertrain fun (easy) to drive
stock gearing with horrible 5th gear ratio
car stays composed with good cornering and balance
I look forward to building up my own Eclipse as I really like this platform

Rojs Volvo: 2:03.553
Large heavy feeling chassis with understeer. Would need more laps to adjust as each lap was faster than the last.
Love the creative tune and choice of car.
Nice work on creating grip for corner exits
Tune feels the most polished but needs less understeer
Still it gets my vote for drivers choice and one of the best tunes overall.

Assassins Civic: 2:03.610
I like this tune it did everything well. I prefer my brake balance to be much lower on the front and higher for the rear so that I can get better turn-in under heavy braking though.

Shmogt SRT4 : 2:03.625
very good tune overall only some slight tweaking needed to be great. It probably isn't ever going to run with the Integras but some gear ratio tweaks for better spacing between gears and top speed will help it get close.

Mafiaboy Eclipse GT '06: 2:03.782
good overall tune on one of my favorite FF chassis. braking distance seemed a little long from highspeed and could use a little tweaking of the gears but otherwise a solid well composed entry

D2's Accord EX '03: 2:03.887
Large long wheelbase chassis that stays very composed in the corners. longish wheelbase creates wider turning radius. Needs tighter gear ratios.
The car is surprisingly good (being an Accord not that the tune is surprising) overall and quite a sleeper here.

slowGTR Civic: 2:04.069
Good overall balance and handling but has some highspeed understeer and excessive wheelspin on corner exits.

XDesperado67 C4: 2:04.083
large heavy feeling chassis with excessive wheelspin on corner exits. Not my favorite chassis. I had high hopes for this one but just couldn't get this frog to hop forward fast enough. Good overall gearing and top speed though.

CoolDude Civic '08: 2:04.286
Another platform that I like. Easy and Fun to drive with good overall handling like the other three GME cars. The car felt faster than the
lap time would suggest. Maybe a change of gearing or more grip out of corners would help but I never really noticed what may be holding it back

RaVer Integra: 2:04.416
Just couldn't come to terms with this one. It felt like it wanted to be driven aggressively but when I did so it ran wide in the turns and
I lost time because of this.

Dylans10 Mitsu. FTO GPX '94: 2:05.236
Love the tune but it suffers from PD's skinny tire modeling and grip levels . Fun to drive but not fast enough to win. Good handling tune in a car that is held back because of low grip levels.

C-ZETA Mitsu. Cyborg: 2:06.096
I want to like this car but skinny tire game modeling has left it with little grip for cornering or acceleration. My times were obviously affected by this.
Fun car to drive with good chassis and motor just unable to go very fast.

*I copied and pasted this from notepad to here and some of the structure is different now but hopefully it's not too hard to read.

Good , happy to see my car in first position again after the 2 celicas.. But i think that CSLACR will show a faster one after this shootout. Last time she gave me some modifications to test on my tune and it was half second faster in my hands .
She say she will do his own, with a super fast pink paint :) , so wait and see. i'm shure it will be much more faster.
Thanks to ACSR421 ,great job again, congratulations.

Yep, but only because I hadn't got the hang of writing and driving yet. So should I make it clearer or leave it?

She already did, but it's Purple Relex, and ran 1:59.025, It's shared on her profile right now. ;)

I'm actually quite impressed with those times using an automatic, I thought the Accord would've suffered more as that car preferred to be shifted earlier. I guess my cars are right up your alley as it comes to the fun factor as those reviews were quite complimentary, so thankyou ACSR. 👍

Once again I apologise for my tranny set up. But I will be working on that as soon as I get back my ps3. I can't always borrow my friend's lol. But I know it sucks. The car has a lot of potential but when this comp is over I'm changing the tranny then giving it to my friend. It's actually meant to be a prize car, my tiger. But I'm proud of my first offical gtplanet tune and you'll be seeing a lot more from me. I have another ITR at 450pp that ill be doing up fully NA. Thanx guys

Great! That was unexpected!
You make me nervous again! It will be very close. :nervous:

Hi CSLACR,
Do you mind to post the settings here?
First page, post 2

PS: What happened with Adrenaline 2 aka "Grinols"? Only 1 post and banned?

Grinols is my soon-to-be roommate's account. I let him use that PSN because the WRS requires that I created and used a GTP tagged account, so he made his gtplanet username the same. If it was banned, I assume it's because they thought it was me? But a simple IP check would have verified it wasn't.

Yes, this must be the reason. I thought it's because of you!

Hey, Adrenaline, got some good and bad news for you. The bad news is that vette lost your Spirra V8
The good new is that I've sent him mine as a replacement so you should get it back soon, if you still want it……

Am I too late to drive these hopped up FF monsters? I've got a day off tomorrow and need to get my head out of the Nurburgring 4 Hour event.

Go on, you have 4 days left, so please do :D Welcome aboard, read your 4hr 'ring race reports, inspired me to give it a go, but I'm desperately trying not to………
and Desperado, your bobs have improved massively from last time, they are beating my best driver :dunce:

iiiiiiiimmm baaaaaack..... And no, it had nothing to do with Adrenaline, or anyone else for that matter. Assassin hit it on the head that it's poor moderation nothing more. I was dead tired sitting on a plane and I used "u" instead of "you" while trying to help a kid out with a tune. So they booted me. Seriously? Cmon. So the moderator and my self got into it. Oh well. I'll have my tests done by tonight I'm sure. I'll post em' and you'll never have to be bothered with me again. Sorry for getting folks riled up. Cars and art are pretty much the only things I get passionate about anymore. Peace out ladies and gentlemen.

Welcome back sins and glad it was only a temporary thing.
Looking forward to your times.👍👍

Why did they think it was Adrenalin & just Ban them up. Doesn't seem right... Or make sense...

Since his user name, is my old PSN, I could see how they based the ban, but like I said, a simple IP string check would have proven that it's not me. Even if the IP's matched, which they might once we share the same internet next month, there's nothing preventing people from sharing a PS3 and both wanting to participate in a forum. What if I had a little brother who had his own profile on my PS3 and used it to race. Is he not allowed to have a GTPlanet account, because we share a PS3 or computer?
It would have made more sense, if his account had a bunch of posts, that were somehow productive to me, but 1 post in 2 or 3 weeks, just stating that he put a car up for share for this competition? A little odd.

Thanks for the comments. I know how hard all the drivers are working on their testing and finalizing a results sheet. So we all appreciate the feedback. I'm also working on a Integra tune and trying to get under the 2:00 minute mark at GVS. I ran a 2:00.7xx with it so far. It's up for share if you or anyone else would like to try it but it's very narrowly focused for my driving style and I may need to go less aggressive on the settings to make it more driver friendly.:scared:

I can see what assassin means now by 'poor moderation', though I mean to say this without insulting the staff. But please, I know this particular area of the forum is a hostile and sensitive one, but do try and think about why...let's say an account was created under Adrenaline's PSN tag when he already has a GTP account. It wouldn't have been a coincidence, so there must be a reason. And I bet the mods didn't ask for a reason before dropping the ban hammer on him, they thought it was adrenaline on a new account, so banned it without knowing why it was there in the first place...

Yep, but only because I hadn't got the hang of writing and driving yet. So should I make it clearer or leave it?

Do what you want with it, I wouldn't mind another review/test though, because I think your holiday effected my results. Your choice i'm not that bothered really.:)

Thanks for the comments. I may try the Accord with manual to see if I'm any faster by short shifting it. All three cars were fun for me to drive and handled the way I want them to.👍
